    Two pretty pens, but I have to say that I like the convenience of a converter.

    I can't prevent bleed-through or pen leakage, but I can control how I react to it...

    I'd love it If they make one with the blue material on the Grande

    Beautiful pens. I love their material and the strong chatoyance! The cap that tapers down to meet the barrel appeals to me too as does the ebonite feed, but I actually prefer converters simply because I change inks often. I do not need a new pen. I do NOT need a new pen. I do NOT NEED a NEW pen. Ah, man. You're dangerous, Stephen!

    Grande. It's the feed. It's the QC. There's more beautiful resin to see. I am in Florence at Casa della Stilografica a couple of hours at a time, and got to try pens, and bought several and practiced for many hours at home. What I found so far is... Leonardo ink flows beautifully in Leonardo pens, whether plastic or ebonite feed. The red passion, blue and green are intense and clean colors -- highly recommended. The shattoyant materials are amazing -- the lighter the color the more bling. The darker the color, the more like you're seeing stars pop out from behind dust clouds as you rotate the pen in bright light. The 'spaghetti resins' are more subtle, but you can spend ages looking at them from different angles -- like looking through ribbon agates. The shattoyant materials look like they are on fire in the sunlight -- both beautiful. I don't have big hands, but all the Momento Zero, Furore and Furore Grande are comfy in my hand, however I hold the pen. The extra girth of the MZ Grande near the crook of my thumb is more noticeable, but not so much that I'd have any discomfort from it. The ink flow in all of them (I'm using 1.1mm Jowo steel stubs on all) is good. On the Grandes I have tried, it is WAY wetter than the sample SBRE has -- maybe the Jowo-ness. The (steel) nibs seem better tuned and smoother on the Grande models. The spaghetti resin seems 1% more glassy to the touch than the shattoyant models. The balance on both is great. The regular probably 'disappears' in the hand a bit more, but both are easy for finger-centric or for whole-arm pen control. I do like the converter -- easy to see so one can fill to 100%, and easy to clean and I presume repair/replace. Both seem straight-forward to pull the nib and feed alone to swap out, but at the shop there was enough issue getting a nib from a different sample of the same model to adjust just right that they said, "Let me just order a whole pen -- we might get you a special model if we're lucky, like the acrylic from this model but the shape of this model." That's super-cool but only happening because they are in Italy on a first-name basis. In any case, the swap should be easy enough. You MIGHT try getting the regular model and seeing if a nibmeister can put an ebonite feed on a steel nib and tune it. If they can do it, it might cost $100, but not the $300 of the gold nibs.

    Loved your shootout! Thanks to you, I'll soon be the happy owner of both pens - but with steel nib. I wonder if it really matters, though.

    I've got the blue one with chrome trim and a steel 1.5 mm stub - what a fantastic pen, what a smooth writer... One day I will buy Furore Grande, not sure which colour, but definitely with that kind of chattoyance. Deep amber with such effect would make me scream "shut up and take my money".

    It's not as easy but when I put a bright light (phone flashlight) directly behind the pen I am able to see the ink level on my Grande.

      I have reviewed one: it was on the Cuspide. I don't have the link to the review at hand, but an index to all reviews can be found on sbrebrown.com. I hope that helps.

    For those who have the furore has the resin ring at the bottom of the cap ever crack for you guys? Happened to me and had to glue it back on. Still really like the pen

    • @SirWeasel
      @SirWeasel Před 3 lety

      I only have the Grande, but I would contact Leonardo directly - the pens come with a lifetime warranty.

      I did and they they told me they would give me a new ring to slip on which didn't make sense to me. Also I had to pay for shipping so I ended up just fixing it myself.

    Q: what's the difference between a Leonardo Furore?
    A: one of its nibs is both the same
