I've always appreciated that Sakuya plays by the rules. During the time stop, nothing is really stopping her from picking up a single knife and putting it right on Youmu's throat, or at least on a critical position, yet she only picks the knives up and returns to where she was. That's prime sportsmanship to me.

Cannonically, Gensokyo residents aren't allowed to fight seriously or without the spellcard rules because the boundary or gensokyo itself would just get destroyed by an aftermath of even the mid level characters powers. Spellcard battle is about beauty, technique and hitting the opponents.

There is just something adorable and funny about Sakuya having to do this after evey spell card while also trying to appear effortless and cool in the meantime to her opponent at this level of quality.

As funny as this is, I like how between this and part 2 you can kind of draw the implication that if not for Sakuya's timestop, Youmu would have dispatched her multiple times given that half the times she uses it is to avoid a deathblow. And even then she would have outright lost to Youmu if Remilia hadn't shown up to catch the blade right before Youmu f*cking murdered her.
there's also several moments where Youmu *blocks a time-stopped attack.* Always at the last possible instant, but it means the only time she needs is the distance Sakuya has to avoid to not unfreeze Youmu.
Youmu is super underrated in terms of power, really I feel she was holding back. Trying to block any attack from a sword that can cut through (almost) anything was something Sakuya got away with a bunch in the fight

You’re missing the entire point of touhou. If Sakuya did that it’d be an egregious violation of the spell card rules, which would then mean others in Gensokyo would respond in kind. You can kind of see what happens when everyone has a mutually agreed hatred of one person in ISC. They start using bullshit patterns that damn near *require* cheating in some way to surpass, and that’s with them *bending* the rules. Later photo games keep the bullshit patterns in many cases for the simple reason that the protag(s) always have a bullet-destroying camera, so bullshit patterns are less bullshit and are thus fair play to use.
the sheer amount of Stamina Sakuya, would need to both fight, and be constantly recollecting her knives mid fight is crazy. And to keep up with the rest of the powerhouses of Genoskyo show's her skill. Thank's for making this vid Minus!

I like how the area around her includling the knives and ground has color to show that those items are continuing in time. Its a nice detail
