A simple trick to mark that tube guard flat across is set a piece of wood or steel square tube on the bumper then hold the tube guard in place and draw a line across. nice and straight on both sides.
I'm not gonna lie, I have been watching your videos off and on for a while, including on your other channel. It all started with the low buck diesel truck. And I recently got back into a 4x4 pickup. Short bed regular cab. And I'm planning to build a bumper for it to house my winch, as well as a few other things, and I want to hit a few local northwest trails. Thanks for the content. And thank you for all the ideas.
Man that front bumper came out really nice Nate . That was AWESOME you did that for your brother . I wish we lived closer , I would love to have you build me a rear bumper for my TJ . I have grown apart from the one I currently have . Great Job Nate . Until next time take care .
I built one for a 94 K1500 diesel out of 5 lengths of 2 inch schedule 40 pipe. I used my Sears 110v welder, Harbor Freight tube bender, mounted a Harbor Freight 12000 lb winch, and a Harbor Freight light bar. It looks homemade, but deer (and small cars) shudder with fear when they see me coming.
Got a winch for my beater truck for Christmas, once I finish building the motor for my focus the truck is getting a winch mount. Thanks for the awesome video!
I dig it that you are rocking the UA hoodie,I am a union tradesman myself. As I always say UA quality, welding and craftsmanship is second to none.Stay safe bro.
I could build this.... If I could weld, had fabrication machines, a garage, and steel, and your knowledge. But I sure had fun watching you build it! Fun stuff!
It's not that hard, just gotta have the material for it. It's harder making stuff outta scrap. The hardest part is lining things up but it ain't that bad
For cutting tube to the right angle Iâve found the easiest way is to tack weld the bar to a piece of plate steel or a welding table and then get something about an inch to so tall (as tall as you need to clear the gap) and then get a pencil or pen on that and trace around the base. Then just pop the bar off the table and cut the line and it should be perfect. Tacking it to the table isnât completely necessary as you could use magnets or a buddy to hold it but it is nice to have the tube in one solid place to ensure it doesnât move while marking it.
I bought a brand new poisen spyder bumper I like your idea about the truck bed paint no point in pretty powder coat since it will be crawled and trail ridden i like this stuff
I've been watching your vids for a very long time and just realized that you're a UA brother! Just left your locals jurisdiction recently from BP at cherry point! Keep up the good work brother!
5:20 I like how youâve put it together so that the winch play the Fairlane is all one unit and I really like that angled piece is on the left and right
Man I don't know how I've not seen your videos before yesterday but I'm glad I found them....I like your simplistic design and function over form approach.
Dude, I am so glad I found this channel! Didnât even realize you had left BleepinJeep until the algorithm pointed me toward your ânewâ channel. Love your stuff, Brother!
Pipe Master makes a super slick template adjustable dealie that works super cool for those weird angles. I've used them before. They make figuring out those weird copes and angles easy.
@@DirtLifestyle I was also super stoked to see it, I am an apprentice out of local 342, and starting a build on an 89 4runner, planning my bumper/winch mount and working on a lift at the moment.
Nice work. Very smooth. I love your process that you got through as you plan and build things, you seem to have a very great mind for fab work bro đȘ Sure wish I had friends like you đ€·đŒââïž đȘđȘđȘđȘđȘđȘđȘđȘđȘ
Man i gotta quit messin around and get a dimple die set. It makes everything you make look so sweet..i built a similar bumper for my yj out of the original bumper but i made tab mounts that wrap around the side of the frame rail to keep the back of the winch plate from pulling up when winching.
Thanks man! I would like to have capped the frame rails as well. I should have explained this in the video but I need to leave them open because my brother plans on getting an anti rock sway bar. This swaybar uses the hole in the crossmember as a mounting location. Unfortunately I can't cover it.
At 8:04 you talk about going from a round surface to a flat surface - what you need is called a Pipemaster (available on Summit Racing, etc.). They come in fixed tube diameters and are just a series of small rods that you can push up to the mating surface, then pull back to trace the contour. You can see a worked example if you search "Pipe Master Tube Notching Template System" here on the Tubes. I haven't used one, but can imagine it'd be quite handy especially for tube-to-tube notching.
Awesome, Ive recently learned how to weld and have been practicing on small projects at work. After I get my suspension set up on my 4Runner Ill refer back and get ready for a bumper.
Awesome bumper. I've been contemplating building something for my wife's suburban since she smashed the front end. I just still haven't found a good used front end. Also I need full width protection because cattle like to kick things.

For you tube work use a pipemaster! We do a fair bit of cage work helps substantially! More accurate that eyeing it up bud, love the vids keep an coming
I think you over estimate my fabrication abilities.
Lol
I was thinking the same thing
Yup, but love it!
That's an awesome bumper and you are an awesome brother to make that for your brother's birthday.
Thank you!
Dude using your shop press as a press brake and speed hole die press is genius.
I never thought of doing that.

Nice and clean look. It fits the look of that Jeep well!
Thanks brother đ
Sick ass bumper
Awesome bumper
I bought a brand new poisen spyder bumper I like your idea about the truck bed paint no point in pretty powder coat since it will be crawled and trail ridden i like this stuff
The way you timed the music to the tool and machine noises is brilliant and entertaining, a multi-layered endeavor indeed!
Thank you!
Boy you really laid them bead down.you did a awesome work building that bumper WAY BETTER LOOKING than the one that was on it.
Thank you!
Bro this video couldnât come at a greater time, I literally took off my bumper this morning prepping to make one myself! Great vid!
Awesome! I hope it gives you some ideas! Thanks for watching!

Nate the king of dimple dies.
That's a minimalist bumper I'd BUY!!! The dimple died steel looks great! Love the gusseted tube, too. Great
Nice. Now I want to learn how to do things like this.
nice new bumper present!!!
your brother must be STOKED!!!!
He is stoked! He is on his way to see it for the first time as we speak đ€
I like that bumper. That would look good on my TJ
Very nice result. Your brother should be pleased to be running a Nate Design. đ
Lol thanks man!
5:20 I like how youâve put it together so that the winch play the Fairlane is all one unit and I really like that angled piece is on the left and right

Very cool Nate. Thanks for the video. I'd like to build one for my TJ as well.

You must have read my mind. Front bumper is on my list of projects for early 2020.
This was a super cool video. This is exactly how I build my bumpers-- start with an idea and just mock things up and make it up as I go along!
Thanks man!
Nice job ! Herculiner rattle cans are better than Rustoleum only next to Raptor which are way to expensive.
Watching your videos make me want to get back to welding stuff lol. Awesome job on that bumper.
Thanks man! Get back Into it! Fabrication is a great way to spend your time đ
Dirt Lifestyle thatâs for sure!
Damn Nate you do great work.

Yep. M18 tools, Milwaukee tape measure, and torn nitrile gloves.... youâre definitely a plumber. (Like me. Lol)
Nice simple bumper. Love the intro to đđđ
Thanks!
Gone crazy with dimple dies? I like that industrial, purposeful look. Nice build!
Lol thanks man!
Great video!, the more I watch the more I want to get a welder and a few other items. It been years since I have done any welding or cutting.
Thanks man! Do it! You wont regret learning how to fabricate. Its very rewarding đ€
Grinder and paint make me the welder I ain't.
I really need to get myself a tubing bender
Mount the extra 2 lights on the flat fenders . No hood glare no windshield hinge mount to make. Just a suggestion.
Nice work.
Very smooth.

Nice bumper, steering box skid next?
He has one actually. I took it off for the video. I need to trim it and then I can reinstall it đ
Great job you know how to work magic
Man i gotta quit messin around and get a dimple die set. It makes everything you make look so sweet..i built a similar bumper for my yj out of the original bumper but i made tab mounts that wrap around the side of the frame rail to keep the back of the winch plate from pulling up when winching.
They seem expensive until you own them. Then you realize how much you needed them lol
@@DirtLifestyle this is the way any good tools are, as a career mechanic I fully understand this comment.
Looks badass, very MAD MAXian if you will!
I like it. Looks great!! Only thing I would change would be add a side plate around the frame just for looks more than anything
Thanks man! I would like to have capped the frame rails as well. I should have explained this in the video but I need to leave them open because my brother plans on getting an anti rock sway bar. This swaybar uses the hole in the crossmember as a mounting location. Unfortunately I can't cover it.

Thank you for sharing all your tips and knowledge!đđ€
Great video Nate!

Lol thanks! I really appreciate the kind words đ

great looking bumper. clean lines and simple.
Thanks man!
The bumper that was on the jeep to start with is the same bumper I modded to fit my truck because it was cheaper.
I would like the old bumper. We have deer everywhere here in Upper Eastren Michigan, itâs nothing to see 4-5 laying dead per mile.
FYI @2drx4 mounted the fair lead the same way you did: you both have remarkably similar building styles.
Bumper looks awesome!
Thanks man! I'll check him out đ
The 4'' height of the bumper looks fine to me.
Awesome, Ive recently learned how to weld and have been practicing on small projects at work. After I get my suspension set up on my 4Runner Ill refer back and get ready for a bumper.
Since my Jeep is a DD, I like my bumper that goes out to past the tires. If I hit anything (deer) I don't want to mess up my axle.
Mines a DD but where I drive the anything I could even hit is a dog or coyote so Iâm lucky in that regard
You've got a great channel going, and best of all it's now all yours. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! I'm very happy on my own đ€
Awesome bumper. I've been contemplating building something for my wife's suburban since she smashed the front end. I just still haven't found a good used front end. Also I need full width protection because cattle like to kick things.
Yes! More of these types of videos!
Great video!!!! I build things out of need my creativity sucks....lol!!!!
Sweet design đđ»
Thanks man!
Baller, makes me want to spend money I donât have to get all the gear you have. Lol! Great job and thanks for your time!
Sweet build.
Thatâs a great looking bumper. I need to get me some dimple dyes.
Thank buddy! They are definitely worth the money. There is a ton of different options on ebay đ
Sweet bumper!! Very nice work
very nice work and another nice video. only thing I would add to that bumper is something that covers the the ugly sides of the frame rail.
Thanks man! I would like to have capped the frame rails as well. I should have explained this in the video but I need to leave them open because my brother plans on getting an anti rock sway bar. This swaybar uses the hole in the crossmember as a mounting location. Unfortunately I can't cover it.
You could, just cut a hole for where the sway bar comes through. Would clean the rest up really nice.
Looks great! The tunes are much better in this video. Love the hip hop sound.
Thanks buddy! I like Hip Hop too đ

Here in Washington I use a CAB 50 pellet stove in my shop it knocks off the chill nicely US parts even.
Put the old bumper on the liberty. Its a common retrofit

You could try the Steel-It "Stainless Steel In A Can" Steel Gray - 1002B
