- Here we have another wonderful rarity for you. Bobby Darin had a lifelong connection with George M. Cohan. Firstly, they were both renowned composers, as well as song and dance men whose style came from the variety tradition. One of the books Bobby owned as an infant was "Yankee Doodle Dandy." Then, in September 1965, it was announced that Bobby would star in a Broadway show about Cohan in 1966 - a show that would be delayed before finally appearing with Joel Grey in the leading role. Bobby would incorporate a Cohan song into his 1966 live act (and Cohan songs would also appear in Bobby's 1973 TV series). And then there was the TV special "Give My Regards to Broadway" in 1967, a tribute to Cohan starring Bobby alongside Liza Minnelli and Dennis Day. Sadly, most of the visuals are unavailable to us, but we are delighted to present to entire audio from the TV special on CZcams for what we think is the very first time - a great opportunity to hear Bobby and Liza Minnelli at the top of their game. Enjoy!
