    Very nice boots.
    Ive got 2 pairs that I wear. My soviet pair I work in and bushcrafting. A pair of Finnish ones that I use for every day wear and also for bushcrafting. I've become a big fan of jackboots.

      How do you get them to fit tight at the heel? Did you just get lucky with the fit or something? My heel keeps going up and down, like slippers.

      @@Admodeus they move very little, like a wellington or cowboy boot.
      I guess mine are tight enough.

    A lot of the Russian jackboots use a leather substitute for the upper part, some kind of tarpaulin leather look-a-like.

      Mat these are not tarpaulin

      @@DevinK It's called Kirza, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirza, most Soviet Jackboots are made of it, but some are leather. (Tend to be Officers boots being leather.), to give you an idea 150 million pairs of kirza boots have been made. If you are still having problems getting it to take a shine, bees wax/linseed mix melted into the surface can give a decent base.

    • @vincent7584
      @vincent7584 Před rokem

      There ones made of genuine leather often called chrome leather and kirza boots (spelled kir za) made from some kind of cloth

    • @Mat-kr1nf
      @Mat-kr1nf Před rokem

      @@vincent7584 Yep, that’s what I was meaning, Kirza, the inventor was well rewarded because it saved the state a massive amount of money not having to pay for the leather for millions of pairs. It’s very noticeable and cheap looking though. I’ve never worn mine, unlike my wonderful Finnish jackboots, that really are well made!

    Can anyone help me with getting these types of boots to fit snug at the heel? I have kirza boots, and the front is tight as hell, my heel is not and keeps going up and down as I walk, like slippers. I've tried thick socks, insoles, all work at making the front even tighter to the point of discomfort, but the back is always loose. I know about foot wraps, but that is pretty imposible to buy in the west, At least I haven't found any.

    • @DevinK

      You are wearing the wrong size

    • @Admodeus
      @Admodeus Před 2 lety

      @@DevinK I have two pairs of kirza, both EU41 - Uk7, one seems wider and the other pair more narrow. The front fits snug, I can't imagine I would even get into a smaller size. Obviously going a size larger would not help. I've read that foot wraps are supposed to fill in these gaps where needed to provide the tight fit, regardless of sizing, because they were never intended to be an exact size. I'm looking for a modern alternative to foot wraps, surely there must be some way of filling in the space at the heel, I mean people wear cowboy boots, and they don't use foot wraps.

    So the jackboots that I bought flop over when I take them off. So I wanted to know if I need to polish them or not because of that. Also, are the nails in the bottom of the boot supposed to be sticking out?

    • @DevinK

      @DevinK  Před 5 lety +1

      Ali Behrami petroleum isn’t bad for leather as long as your stripping and maintaining it well like Intended and most beeswax is actually quite bad because beeswax hardens in a crystalline structure which and hurt the leather and often times removes to easily to actually provide any water protection
