    Akara Labs also makes an incredibly simple little device to make your uncoded M-mount lenses 6-bit coded so your camera recognizes them. It's so helpful!

    The 35/1.8 Nikkor was even better (especially for center sharpness without harshness), nearly as compact, and was available in LTM, but good luck now finding one at a user-feasible price! When I had one, my pet peeve with it was that the f/stops revolve as you focus, so I sold it... I kick myself now for that, of course!

    Thank you for this review. I very much enjoyed it, particularly as I just happened to obtain one of these lenses as part of Nikon SP kit, but have not yet taken it out. Your photos look excellent as always, I particularly like the more close-up shots and am struck by how nice a 35mm lens can be for portraiture.

    Prague seems to be the best place for nice models. The lens looks like a Jupiter with the dia on a concentric ring in the front. I am not a big fan of the 3D prints grips which probably cost less than 5€ to print (I hope they are not too expensive at selling price…) for a camera more than 6k€… Perhaps some more elegant leather grips can be found… :).

    Hi Matt✌
    Thanks as always for your video👌aha so today you were out and about with a vintage Nippon Kogaku lens, I've seen a lot of them on Ebay too, but even more on 35s 😁 I would also be interested in the ultron 1.7/35 which you have already shown. and is really as sharp as you have advertised it😁I have 3 x35s the Summicron Version IIII the Flektogon 2.4/35 and the Nokton Classic 35 in the S.C which I also like very much, just has a unique character, currently on the M6 on HP5+😁

    Hi Matt,
    Thanks for your videos, some really useful information. I’m currently looking at buying into the Leica M system, but saw a video yesterday that worried me slightly. In it, it was highlighted that knocking or dropping the camera is likely to result in problems with the focusing mechanism which will require a costly repair by Leica. It was suggested that this is likely to be required about once a year! What is your ex[experience of this? Many thanks. Jim

    • @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Jim, yes this is the biggest negative of RF cameras, old or new. If you use them regularly you will need to recalibrate them yourself or send to someone to do it. You might be lucky and not need to do it for ages or you might bump it on day 2. Normally they can go for around a year without needing attention.

    I have an old Nikon W-Nikkor.C 35 mm f/3.5 LTM + LTM to M adapter. To my eye, it looks sharp, but has relatively low contrast at f/3.5 and f/4 (the contrast is greater at higher f-ratios). I’ll be in Paris the end of May and first week in June. A friend in Germany was thinking of asking you to come to Paris then. If so, I’ll bring the Nikon lens for you to check out.

      Hey John, thanks! If you read up on these lenses they say the 2.5 is the best performer of the 3 made - 1.8/2.5/3.5. I think the f1.8 is the most desirable and will give the most unique look. Yes if you are planning something in June let me know dates as soon as you know so I can try to keep them free. I'm currently getting booked up around 2 months ahead. Will be great to see you if it happens!

    Hi Matt, Im trying to decide between Hasselblad 503cw with 645 back and 90 degree prism finder with metering and Mamiya 645 Pro TL
    With prism and metering. How much would I be losing in optics if anything? I know there is a price difference. Also which do think would be more reliable and easier to get fixed? Thanks

    • @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Hmm tricky.. I would add a 3rd. If you want 645 consider the Hassy H cameras like I use. I much prefer to my Mamiya 645 I have. I use 645 backs on my 500cm/501c and it comes down to (1) do you want AF, (2) do you prefer with/without batteries/ electronics, (3) will you ever want to shoot 6x6? Mamiya gear is usually cheaper. Hassy is leaf shutter so better with flash (high sync speeds)
