From what I remember it's mainly due to two things: Not having a reliable access to healing and fucking AWFUL checkpoints. Both of which were fixed in Jak 3, hence why it's so much easier.
The *Jak and Daxter* trilogy is (along with the *Ratchet & Clank* and *Sly Cooper* trilogies) one of my favorite PS2 sagas. Games that I still play today and still continue to enjoy. There are no original PS4 or PS5 games that are more fun for me than this Trilogy. Legendary series that I still love to play with great pleasure.

When did you re-play it? I thought the same until I replayed all of them. Jak 3 is the weakest in the trilogy by far, when playing them back to back. When I was a kid I thought Jak 3 was the best, but after replaying them as a adult with knowledge about games, I can tell you for sure it’s half baked. Do you know they developed Jak 3 in one year? I like how there is a pattern for PS2 Mascots having solid trilogies on the PS2, a handheld spin-off (except Sly) with mixed quality, and a 4th game that got ported to both handheld and console, which stopped the franchise there (except R&C). All 3 developers are still making quality games for Sony to this day as well!
The format definitely works, you could even knock out some games that may be harder to cover in the main series. Maybe something you like but doesn't have the depth? Idk but make more Nio-sensei
Precursor will always be #1 for me …. I legit would let the Ps2 stay on and stay on the 1st area of the game (Sentinel Beach) and let the music play hanging by the ocean… (Dam sharks lol)
Allow a racing gamer to re-review combat racing. As an installment to the series, it's not the best, but if you came here for the combat racing, it's got what you need. Customizable vehicles, a fair amount of tracks for its day, and multiple game modes that all play smoothly. The combat is straightforward, vary akin to Mario Kart, but to call it inferior in any way just shows that he doesn't race. The driving mechanics are smooth and rewarding, the bots provide a good challenge without cheating off screen, (suddenly catching up to you or slowing down if they had a lead) and the tracks offer plenty of space to battle it out. For a one off racer, jakXcombat racing is simply better than the rest. And that's without talking about it having the single best story in a racing game, period.
Definitely start with Precursor Legacy! It's the most approachable and has probably aged the best. 2 and 3 are excellent in their own ways but pretty divisive.
Are you going to do an every Sly Cooper Game, an Every Ratchet and Clank Game, an Every Prince of Persia Game, an Every God of War Game, an Every Legacy of Kain game, an Every Dragon Age Game, an Every Fire Emblem Game, an Every Tales of Game and an Every Assassin’s Creed Game?
@@Niosai Good luck with that. I wonder which game is the best or cult classic of each franchise and which game is the worst or disappointing of the franchise.
Fair point! I had to be kind of choosy with what I talked about here and, fortunately, I have a full-length video covering those mechanics and much more. :)
Just finished the trilogy on the vita… MAAAAANN!! I usually don’t care for frame rate but on a couple of missions you need that frame rate on point. This trilogy SUCKED on the vita. Kinda not got my hopes up for ps3 or ps4
I barely have anything good to say about Lost Frontier. The jumping feels too floaty, the melee combat is sad compared to any earlier Jak games, the guns are uninspired and don't gain much interesting things from the upgrades, the eco powers are OK at best but often just situational, the story is weak and predictable, the plot is full of holes, Jak has all of his edge smoothed from his personality, all side characters built from Jak 2-X are GONE, the character designs look like plastic, no jetboard, no roll jump, no Dark Jak, no Light Jak, no cities to traverse other than on foot and the few places you CAN move in are linear as hell... Maybe the only thing about the game I can actually compliment is the idea of changing the cars from Jak 3 into planes but even that idea suffered from mediocre execution. Even if Lost Frontier isn't the worst game of all time it's definitely my least favourite game. Ever.
I mean, Jaks "smoothed out" personality makes sense... In Jak 2 he was abused by Praxis, pumped full of dark eco. He was battling a dark side that was fueled by this dark corruption. Come Jak 3; he gets the girl, he has his dark eco balanced out by pure light energy, and he comes to terms with his past, learning the truth of his existence and finally finding his father. He's matured, he's healed, and the dark energy in him is sated by a balance of purity, of course that rough edge is gone, he's no longer suffering like he was, he's content.
If you liked it, don't let other peoples' opinions take that away from you! I'd bet that if it was its own game without any relation to Jak and Daxter but with everything else exactly the same, it probably would've been perceived a lot more fondly. It just unfortunately wasn't quite what Jak and Daxter fans wanted ):
