- Bangkok water / canal taxi is probably the most authentic way to see Bangkok. For this adventure we will begin the day at Asoke BTS / Skytrain station next to Terminal 21 shopping mall. We will walk past the famous Soi Cowboy and Sukhumvit MRT station to arrive at Asok pier to board our Canal taxi. We will make stops at Nana, Chitlom, and end our day at Pratunam pier. From here you can directly access the R walk / skywalk taking you to Platinum fashion mall, Central world, Gaysorn, Big C, Erawan Shrine, Pratunam market, Chitlom BTS Skytrain station, and many hotels. The Bangkok canal / water taxi system is faster than sitting in a traditional taxi and definitely more fun! This video will inspire your adventure!

Many thanks for this, have walked along the canal many times but have never been brave enough to jump on a boat. Will do it next visit.

Awesome 👏- was is good?
Well comto Thailand sawaddekhab 🙏
Yes, thank you 🙏
Fun, fast, and cheap, but you can get a painful strep throat from the sewer water spray. Consider sitting in a dry spot on the boat, wearing a face mask and sunglasses, keep your mouth closed, and use a large amount of mouthwash right after.
Last week I saw kids fishing. Last month I passed 4 boys swimming in the canal… I am not sure I would do that, but the canals are definitely becoming cleaner and Bangkok is working to improve them. The plastic splash guards prevent water from coming inside and I have not experienced any concerns recently…
In fact I just finished part two of the water taxi series today… I don’t feel any more danger in a water taxi than on a Bangkok street! 😂😂😂. Enjoy!👍
Nice video, but you should not call the Khlong Saen Saep boats for water "taxis" but better "water buses".
Good point!
Great video Joe, thanks for this. What are the hours these river taxis operate?
I found this link and it says 5:00am until 9:00pm- but in Thailand things can change 😂. Thanks for your kind comments 🙏🙏🙏touristbangkok.com/city-transport/canal-boat-bangkok/
@@wanderlustingwithjoe thank you, this is useful.
Enjoy and keep us posted with your experience 👍
Hi Joe - Nice informative video. Just a quick question ; Do these water taxis accept the Day Pass issued by BTS ( Rabbit ). Thanks in advance
Thanks for the kind comment! I just asked my Thai friend to confirm and the answer is no. I have only used cash on the water taxis - and never more than 25thb - less than a dollar
@@wanderlustingwithjoe - Hi Joe - I just found this article and thought of sharing it : 👇
* Blue Flag (Tourist Boat)
* Stops at various points as you please
* Runs daily from 9am to 7pm
* Costs around 40 baht/trip or 100 baht for an all-day pass
* This service operates between Nonthaburi in the far north of Bangkok to Sathorn Central Pier from 7am to 6.25pm. The all-day pass offers unlimited trips. English speaking staff will call out every stop clearly over a microphone and ask if anyone wants to alight at that stop. If there are no passengers to get on or off the boat, it won't stop. In between stops, staff explain the sights lining the river on either side.
The Tourist Blue Flag Boats do have a 100 Baht All Day pass
Thanks for the attempt 😂. But these instructions you provided are for Chao Phraya River tourist boat- not water taxis- totally different- see my new video czcams.com/video/nlFrGMIFJnk/video.htmlsi=eiG5sCIKKw7qino3
@@wanderlustingwithjoe Noted - thanks
From Asoke pier, how do you know which boat takes you to which direction? Since they go both directions.. I am nervous about this as I don't want to take the wrong boat
If you are walking across the canal bridge from terminal 21 direction- you want get on the “far” side to go to Pratunam pier direction- don’t worry? Just ask the boat workers? They are nice 👍
Thank you for your video. I attempted this today. Unfortunately, I still got lost. so I am rewatching the video again now. You were right not too many people know about it even the Thai people. No one had a clue what I was talking about. I said the canal water taxi. The real water transportation. Anyway, it was getting late and I was talking with a Thai man and he said it would be too late to go as it would stop running and not come back.
Do you happen to know when the water taxi stops running?
I thought I would attempt it again tomorrow. I think my problem was instead of continuing walking straight because I passed the famous Soi cowboy etc,,, after a while I asked a girl and she told me to take a left. After watching the video I saw it was too soon as I never did cross a bridge or see the canal. Also around 3:58 in the video, you say this is the view of the Asok pier but didn't really make it clear if you walked right into it or if you took another left for a right, or if there is a sign to follow.? You just ended up there after the walk. I'm not sure if you will get this on time or not but either way I am going to try again. Wish me luck. Leaving Bangkok in a couple days. thanks, I really enjoyed the video. Hope I make it to the Artist's house as well.
He Debby, if you passed the Soi Cowboy you just keep walking until you pass over the canal bridge. It is not a tourist attraction and therefore little signage. Here is a Google maps link: maps.app.goo.gl/boRWcd3EJh123GodA?g_st=ic
Maybe an easier more fun one to do is go to Pratunam pier: here is Google maps link: maps.app.goo.gl/dUvFaUyFf22iQekU9?g_st=ic
Debby, did you watch this one? Begin at Pratunam pier? czcams.com/video/Sihlbgul-Vo/video.htmlsi=XjXRG6d_gNCPtXUn
@@wanderlustingwithjoe yes i did. Awesome videos.
@@wanderlustingwithjoe yes i should have never taken the left. Its ok i ended up back at the mall. Really have to watch the scooter riders here lol!
Would it be possible to get a link to copy the water taxi map? I am unable to find one online.
I don’t know of one either. The one in my video is picture in the dock
What time does it end
I am not sure of when the boats stop. But I know they operate during daylight hours
I didn't see boat routes on Google maps should I use another map app?
I use Google maps for everything. The boat routes might not be there in way you search. But if you search the station name like: Pratunam pier. It will come up. Here is a location link maps.app.goo.gl/kK9pAz6b6ne7jEBL9?g_st=ic
@wanderlustingwithjoe I am still in Chicago I just did some " test" I put in as a example Fathulbaree Mosque to chinatown and it only gave train and or bus routes. I will try again.
@wanderlustingwithjoe I will be staying at the living nest condo in Ramkhamhaeng area and I was told the ferry is the best way based on where I will be. I think you said let the boat conductor know where you want to get off but if you show him your Google maps location it will be in english?
