I am excited to see how it goes pal. It is going to be a really interesting comparison of old vs new (ish). It was the same wall I smashed the TT02 into but the XV01 survived slightly better!

I managed ten seconds in the Fazer, the 959 will definitely be quicker than that.
But I honestly wasn't expecting to see the XVO1 getting down into the sevens!

But seriously, how good is the XV01?!?!?! I totally confer with your appraisal - everyone should have one. It's just so neutral and sweet-handling. Well done on that time, it's gonna be hard to beat. Now over to Green Hawks! 😬👊👍
Hey Mark, the XV01 handles like it is on rails. There is nothing else like it in the Tamiya fleet is there.
I couldn’t believe the difference running those models back to back. I knew the XV01 was going to be better but I was surprised.
I am not sure James is going to be able to get me 😁 He’ll need to keep it in once piece first though!!!

It was ripping around there very well! I think James has a very high hurdle to clear in order to beat those times!

Yeah, Craig, you got it, buddy! That was some superb driving there, mate, of course aided by a superior chassis, that XV-01 is great! Like I mentioned, Mark also clocked a sub-eight second time with his XV-01, but you even smashed that, too!
It'll be fun to see what Yoda can do about that challenge, he he!
Cheers Mads! I think Yoda is going to have to go some to top this XV01 run! I love this chassis and I am seriously considering another one before they are no longer available. It is my favourite RC to drive (at the moment!!)

@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC thanks James. Beside the Tamiya's awesome. The 959'll always be stucked in my memory. As it was released, everyone knows the price of it 1000 DM for each horsepower. Makes (without inflation) 225 K €/£/$. Only F40 costs more at that time.

Hey Robbie, thanks dude. I agree with you a LiPo would have this thing moving even quicker but I think the fact it is a silver can and a heavy NIMH pack makes it even more impressive!! Thanks for watching matey 👍🏻
It deffo looks to have more turn in than the tt02, and in this test thats a big help 👍

That was so nice! I have one in the box now for like 2 1/2 years. I opened it to steal the esc for another project. Ill need to give it a second look.

Jesus christ mate, u bloody nailed that, I've seen how nice this chassis handles off road which is what it's designed for, so I didnt expect great things on the smooth stuff, but bloody hell it smashed the TT02 didn't it 🤯, I've wanted a XV01 for ages now, I sooo need to save some cash for one, great video Craig 👍👊
Cheers Carl. It is an absolute joy to drive. I have driven it on so many different surfaces and it is a consistent performer and I always find it easy to drive. Get one before Tamiya decide they don’t want to make them anymore!!
@@theoagrc I'm going to have to lol, I've watched Mark and others on CZcams drive the XV01 off road and I always think it looks to handle very realistic to an actual rally car, especially in Mark's slo-mo shots, great video mate cheers for replying and have great weekend 👍
Mark is the master when it comes to capturing those scale rally moments. I can guarantee the XV01 will put a smile on your face every time you take it out. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video pal 🙌🏻

Yep. I don’t know how the Type S is ever going to compete with this on the OR!! What impressed me every time I drive this chassis is that it is stock!!
@@theoagrc I'm not a huge fan of belt drive, but it's that motor placement that gives it the advantage I think 👍
Oh I agree. It hangs out way over the front wheels and transforms the handlings. I am surprised more models don’t do the same!

The 959 is ready to go (haven't been able to sort out that non centering servo to the left..... can't find anything visibly wrong?!!)
But, am giving it a shot anyway!

I hold the record for a non-TT02/Fazer as Mark’s TT02 time was unbelievable!!! It is beatable because the LiPo/Brushless brigade will be able to go faster. Although I think this one is less about what battery and motor you have and more about how quick your reactions and smooth your driving!

Lap Tracker but you can get the same by using the time stamps in the video 👍🏻
Unsure you have mentioned it anywhere or i missed it but what is your timing gear that you have there?
Hey Glenn, it is a IOS app called LapTracker. Very basic but it does the job once you have configured it

Just uses the camera on a phone to detect motion Glenn. It works great as long as there is no background movement or shadows
