I honestly have been interested in all the footage you put out no matter what, you remind me of a friend I had in hs and I honestly look up to you while I watch your channel, it inspires me a lot, living in bend you have the best base for anywhere amazing to go, you can go east where there’s less trees and it’s more desert and old homestead ruins ore you can go cascades where the timber is thick and snowy or you can go coastal, so much diversity, I can tell you that most people haven’t seen an environment like central oregon it’s very unique and interesting, like the lava caverns and caves and such, bring to people what most people don’t get the chance to see and your set, your style of camping is on point just do you and don’t feel so pressured, I like to just be there through CZcams and be entertained when I can’t go out to camp or ride a bike.

Funny watching this video as I am struggling with some of the same things you are. I feel like my channel is in a funk and not sure what to do about it, watching this certainly helps in that I am not alone. I tend to camp at the same spots and try to make weather the variable in my videos. I try to tell myself, just make what makes me happy and if I get views, likes and subscribers...great! If not, who cares. I don't want to do videos I don't care about just to get more interactions on CZcams.
I really like your content and will watch whether you have a video a week or a video every 2 months.
In the end, as others have said, do what you want and if you are genuine (as you seem to be), I think you will be happy.

I have the same Tacoma as you except for your kickass tent on it. I wouldn't trade it for a newer version. I have 263K on it and probably only have another 263K of driving left in me. I figured it would be much cheaper to get those miles with the current rig. Love the drone clips throughout the video.

Good choice on selling that van. Keep going with the Taco and get it out there when you can. My advice on content, is make what content YOU WANT TO MAKE, everything else is a waste of effort.

Nice Husky! Did you sell the 1090??!! It was your simple overnighter on that bike that had me subscribing in the first place. I love the idea of keeping an older, simpler truck vs tying up a bunch of cash on the latest & greatest. I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 & I absolutely love just everything about it.
I also love the simplicity of your truck & moto camping. I’m from Western Wa but I always head to central Oregon on my 1090 whenever I get a few days to myself.
I think the thing I love most about your content is how genuine you seem. Just a regular hard working guy that makes time to get outdoors once in a while. Mad respect to anyone who does that AND puts time & effort into filming & editing. Cliche yes but you do you, man. I’ll be right there with a thumbs up.

Thank you! 1090 is currently up for sale. I am really wanting to get out and do more simple overnight camps on the 901. Just waiting for my knee to heal up and some accessories. I think the simplicity of a paid off reliable vehicle is hard to beat, especially if you enjoy it.
Thank you for the kind words, glad you enjoy the content! Definitely more to come. Cheers!

Have you looked into going into the ochoco's? Especially like the big and little summit prairies. There is a bit more than that you could check out. And yes there is a lot out there and it does take more and more time to get way out there and that is not even considering the price of fuel as well. I for one have cut back a lot of my traveling out and about due to fuel costs which really sucks lol.

    • @pnwxplore
      @pnwxplore  Před 2 lety

I love it in that area but haven’t spent nearly enough time out there. Def want to get out there some more, perhaps this fall!

@@pnwxplore as soon as gas prices get moving in the right direction I need to get out there as well, been way too long as I used to go through there with my family when I was a kid to get to deep creek for some good trout fishing. Most my family lives in the shadows of the ochocos so it needs to be a have to do soon lol

My dream is an older tundra! 2000-2005 1… reliability is there, 2… more space for husky and fam, 3… more aftermarket parts, maybe not as many as a Tacoma but what’s available is what I’d need. To me no matter how much money I’d make, older will always win and kinda sadly, I wish more emphasis of reliability and functionality was put into new vehicles, but marketing and going “green” has taken over and don’t get me started on the sensors and computers, what a waste, 3/4ths of that crap I can do without, I like simplicity and functionality with some reliability, hopefully it’ll all get better though, we really failed after I’d say 2008ish with vehicles, I won’t touch a truck newer than that honestly.

Yeah the 1st Gen Tundras are awesome! I wouldn’t mind having one and replacing my Tacoma with it!

I'm an "older" guy and here's my advice: Invest in yourself first, then see what you have leftover for everything else. All of the local stuff around you can be interesting throughout the year as the seasons and weather changes... same here in Arizona... I travel throughout AZ based on weather, and that stays interesting visiting different places yearly (forests in the summer, deserts in the winter, etc). Now, if you want to add new places for video content, then how about this: Put together a travel camping kit that fits in a suitcase, then fly somewhere, and record your travels as you camp out of a rented minivan while exploring new areas? Get on an airline mailing list for cheap airfare alerts (same with a rental car company). Draw a circle from home with a two-hour flight, then a circle with a two-hour drive in a rental vehicle from the airport, and see how much you can cover to explore in one or two nights. Lots of possibilities on the map, and easy to do with such short travel times. You have the photography/videography skills to do it, and your narration is easy to listen to. I'm sub'd here on YT and on IG, and will be looking forward to see where you go from here. Peace! Pete - (azcamperpete on IG)

The new Tundra is rad. Loved everything about it. Especially the fuel mileage. It’s not as capable off road as the last generation, but that’s not an issue for most

Wow, what a swirl of changes, and all in short order. Sounds like a burn out from work isn't too far away. Please slow down at work if it is at all possible and give yourself some room to breathe there. Remind yourself that you "work to live", not "live to work". The high stress of work seems to have you heavily soul searching for something, but not quite sure what.
Tacoma, motorcycles, fabrication, photography, travel, camping, etc.... You have a very good mix of hobbies, toys and ideas to make future content with. I would suggest going back and look into the analytics of your past videos and see what kind of numbers you are getting for various videos. Look for what viewers stayed focused on, vs skipped through or even passed over.
I like that you caught yourself early in what could have been a finanical rabbit hole trying to blindly fill a void in your life while also trying to maintain good content. Although the new Tundra would be a fun truck to have and explore with, I agree that it probably isn't the best choice within your perameters. There are plenty of other content creators out there that are covering the new vehicles like the Tundra and Bronco, let them cover that, and you do you.
Your custom built wedge camper on a 1st gen Taco was honestly what pulled me into your channel, and that is what I found most interesting along with your desire to learn new skill to make it happen. Your photography skills are amazing and should clearly be inclusionary in your videos for sure! As far as the "need" to show new places vs staying closer to home, or hitting your local haunts, don't over think it. Just have a basic plan on the direction of the video and let it be fluid on it own. Many content creators out there spend way too much time and effort trying to shape a video with the production side, rather than let it be more organic. I find the creators that just "go with it" and show their mistakes, mishaps, trials and tribulations along the way hold my attention longer because their content is closer to real life that I can relate to. IMO adventure based videos are more interesting to follow if there is down to earth realism vs a documentary layout. Viewers come to watch videos to see what creators are doing, and not as much about what creators are wanting to show us, if that makes sense.
In a nutshell, just do what feels comfortable to you and see what sticks. If numbers aren't moving in the right direction, tweak it and see what happens.
