2 strokes are on a comeback, slow but still a comebac. The fun ratio on a 2 stroke is off the scale plus cheap to maintain. Don't get me wrong 4 strokes are excellent but the expense and upkeep is expensive. Have you noticed everybody raves about how fun 2 strokes are to ride, and isn't that why we ride. Look on Craigslist find that 5-15 year old 2 stroke, for around 2000 or less you will have the time of your life.
Hulley29 I'm 53, selling my Harley due to MX knees lol. If I had any, I'd join ya on one of these little gems. Had a 74 125 Elsinore, 1st sutures lmao. Amazing what KTM has done since they snagged DaMan from Suzuki. Never, ever, bet against DeCoster.
21.7 HP, and it all hit at once, you'd have a 35 bike gate, 25+ would be Elsinores. Oh well, I bought a 2015 Honda PCX 150 last November, it's fun as hell for an old hippy lol. 13.4 massive HP lmao.
My 2 favorite 2 strokes I had as a kid were a 77' YZ125 "Bob Hannah edition" and an 84' CR125R, as far as 250's go a 94' KX250, and a 2001 CR250R were later on. I want this 150 for a dirt toy! and The Husky FE501s Enduro/Supermoto is also on my list. Currently I have an 05' CRF450R Which is one hell of a beast in it's own rights as well. I guess I just love bikes period. :)
so I've rode my 85cc for almost two years, and then since september Ive had my 2015 150sx. I have had a few practice days on my brothers yz250f and I like that a lot. and I loved his old 350f what he had. I am thinking of getting a 2016 ktm sxf250 but im not sure!
Agreed, you can get awfully lazy riding 4t's. Having a 450, you can just chug it out of corners in any gear, but you can't get away with that on a 125/150. However, I went from CR250, to a CRF450 and it meant I was riding so much faster.
Pierce Barrett, Don't get me wrong 450's are still fun to ride and smooth but as you said you can start to slack off on your skills around corners or anything like that on a 4 stroke, the 2 strokes just take you back to the basic fundamentals of riding
I traded my CR250 in for a CRF450 due to all my big accidents happening on the 2T (owned an 06 CRF250 before the 2T). For me they are a heap more unpredictable then the 4ts. I love the amount of traction you get to the ground of 4 strokes too. I'm going to go back to 2 stroke soon though I think. They are just too easy to do your own rebuilds.
@@pierceb2105 First time i rode a ktm 125 sx i said the exact same thing. I ride a honda crf 450r 2020 now but use to have a suzuki rmz 450 2016 and a ktm 125 sx 2008 . After riding the ktm 125 i honestly felt like it was harder to ride/control then a 450 4 stroke. Aggressive little thing and totally unpredictable. The 450s are predictable and you know what to expect but yeah i couldnt get over how fast and snappy/aggresive the 125 was. The most fun bike id ever ridden just a whole new buzz.
Where is the bike? I wanna see more details of the bike on some static shots. I don't want to see people talking. I can hear them, i dont have to look at them.
I have a 2017 ktm 150 sx and all I can say is hes right, when u get used to it the 150 sx is the most fun ive ever had on a 2 stroke, you have to keep the rpms high but when u get used to it the bike rips. the 150 sx will deff make u a better rider. 2 strokes have always be in with me , wouldn't catch me buyin a 4 stroker, hate the sound of them too, they sound so boggy, a dirtbike should sound like a 2 stroke sounds, its just right.
I'm gonna get my 2015 150sx tommorow and I gotta say I like the front fender and number plates more on 2017 than a 2015... Do you know if I can fit the new 2017 plastics on my 2015 150sx?
cityofplant im 90% sure they will but if they dont fit im sure they make a adapter plate for the front fender forsure and if u get the front fender on ,the number plate will work forsure.
cityofplant i just looked at the 2015 front fender , the holes look like their in the exact same spot as my 2017 you should be good to go, but like i said if it dosent u just make or buy a adapter plate , id just make one if i wanted to do it. or just buy the 2017 fender and just drill the holes in it to match up with ur 15 its just plastic , no matter what i could make it work.
For your size and for trail riding, I'd look towards a 250. The extra displacement will make it easier to handle on trails and the chassis is a bit roomier.
I know this is a two stroke video but my first 250f was a Yamaha then I moved to a KTM 250sxf and now ride a 2015 yz250f and honestly both the Yamahas were far better than the KTM and there both stock.
I think a company that could make a small bore Enduro bike, like a 125 or 150, would make a lot of money off of them. All the Enduro bikes are 250s, 300s, and 450s. What are you supposed to learn on?
I don't know much about enduro, but ktm did and stopped I think I heard? And when you ride enduros you just lug them even if it's a 2 stroke I guess? So maybe that's why? I think it would be fun to ride a 125 in the woods tho so I hear ya
I had a 450 and raced it in an Enduro. My first thought was "A KX100 would be better". Drop that 450 in the mud once or twice and you will be exhausted picking it up. My opinion is smaller and lighter is better.
Yamaha haven't really done anything to their 2 strokes for like about 10-12yrs. KTM have done a fair bit of R&D but not yamaha. They are still selling new YZ's, but they aren't really new
I LOVED THE SOUND OF A 2 STROKE ENGINE...SWEEEEETT

motorcycleguy73 4 strokes we're pushed by liberal politics "emissions". They make less power for a bigger engine. More $. More $ to maintain.
Hell, I'm 42 and want a 150sx. Reminds me of ripping around on my 125s.

profaneslave I bet that Elsinore was a sweet little bike!
Da Man. Bar none.
You think Roger had anything to do with the revival of the 2 stroke?

so weird seeing kids say they don't have any experience riding 2 strokes
I'm 40 and have never ridden a 4 stroke. They just don't look as fun. And fun is why 90% of us ride.
I love my 150sx... great bike
Same. I've got a 2011 one though
I just bought one Friday.. can't wait to ride it
Awesome

My brother had the 74 CR125 silver/green tank (purchased Nov. or Dec 1973). The best sounding stock bike for me and one of the most beautiful designs.
This is awesome!!!
Awesome video, Awesome bike!

So, what he's actually saying is...You can't suck as a rider on a two-stroke ;)
I love ktm my dream drit bike
Braaaaaaaapp
A 2 stroke does teach you how to ride better

Would this be a good bike to ride on trails? I'm 5'10" 200 lbs. Thanks!
Yea I got me one its only problem is unpredictable power

Thank you very much sir!
I'm around 4"9 1/2 would this be a good size for me?
No, you are too big. You need a 450 or CR500.
BBQ Sandwich agreed or try the makio 700
