- LIFE'S A BEACH is a documentary that delves into the life of Mungo, a man who chose an alternative, off-grid lifestyle on the picturesque beach of Folkestone Warren. LIFE'S A BEACH; The experiences of a man who made waves, by going against the tide.
The Guardian called the film "A picture-perfect documentary detailing a threat to the idyll of an English eccentric". www.theguardian.com/film/2015...
Synopsis: A documentary film about Mungo and the way he began living when he was forced ashore after his boat had rudder problems and consequently sank at Folkestone Warren. He built a small cottage from driftwood and salvaged items and through his ingenuity and skill created an alternative lifestyle free from the burden and control of the utility companies and authorities. But this is so much more than a story of someone living an alternative lifestyle; it's a story of family, friendship, love, compassion and struggle. Mungo became a 'Local Hero', an advisor, he brought people together from all walks of life, he became a destination. The authorities didn't have the same view however, and Network Rail started legal proceedings to have him removed.

Simple man down to earth and what a lovely story,a mans simple life,in nature,❤
Thank you, we're so pleased you enjoyed the film!
Me and my little one (well he was then!!!) used to camp a couple hundred yards along from there. Mungos presence kept the weirdos away. Great bloke and great times. Brilliant memories
Truly a Wise Man; feared non, loved simplisty. Sad he departed early.
We hope you enjoy this documentary, Mungo was one of a kind!
I was at the screening of this at the Quarterhouse in Folkestone! I seem to remember it was a rough cut then and much much longer than the final film. I thought it was great.
(and I bought the DVD as well)
@@bigalxyz Yes the rough cut was 2 hours 7 mins! Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the feedback!
That was a beautiful watch; thank you! A man after my own heart. Sending love to his family and friends, and of course the doggos; from another man and his doggo.
@@dannybowden5296 Thank you for your kind words, we're so glad you enjoyed it!
@@britflicks Much appreciated! 😊
Me Mung were good friends. We shared a couple of flats in Dover and worked together driving trucks all over Europe in the mid 90’s. He was a top man and very funny to travel with. Miss you brother Francis. Sleep easy mate
Thanks for sharing
Not many left like him. Us oldies grew up in a different world. We had to be self-sufficient, to take care of ourselves and be independent. R.I.P
He was a great character, and is very much missed!
Beautiful documentray about a beautiful man.

Thanks @andygrayson7485, he was a great character to have known, and he's greatly missed!
I came across the small traces of Mungo left on this beach some years back, there was a photo and some information about him there at that time, this warm and encouraging documentary of his story is a welcome treat, lovely fella. Inspirational.
