We are showing you how to assemble a 4x3 residential gate kit. This gate kit is for a 4' chain link fence, they come in custom heights and widths. We use 1 3/8" .065 Pipe, it's much heavier than standard tubing. If you are a contractor or DIY looking for a heavy duty gate without welding skills, then you will love this. This framework idea came from our heavy vinyl gates.
We also offer a 1 5/8" frame for commercial use. Check out our other videos. @ / vinylwholesale

Do you want to Know About US?
We are known as Buetts, a family last name from my father. My Dad was a simple farm boy; he grew up mending fences and attending cattle after school and on weekends. My father grew up very poor; his parents lived through the Depression. They lived off the Land in Arkansas by farming and livestock. This is where he picked up fencing; he would do side jobs mending fences for farmers.
My father's first job was with Marshall Fence Company out of Marshall, Texas. He was trained by Joe Pepper and his father (who Dad still calls Dad and Grandpa on occasion). (Side rant: I remember building cedar fences by hand, no power tools; according to the Peppers, it was against the art.)
Dad took over Marshall Fence and ran it until 1996 when he packed us up and moved to Idaho. Buetts started in August 1996, consisting of my father, two brothers, uncle, cousins, and lots of other great hands.
@WholesaleVinylFencing started in 2010 and is operated by us with the addition of 42 distribution facilities nationwide. Don't buy one of these kits contact a real fence company give them your gate measurements and they will make you a custom gate with welded corners much higher quality then that cheap stuff

you don't need a drill press to drill a hole into the frame. you just need a good metal bit and good drill with torque and some patience. I wouldn't ever buy that POS gate. the gate looks disgusting

    • @bobburnitt5389

All you have to do is MARK the post with a Wrap Around Template at the location where the J-Bolt Hinge goes. Scribe a LINE around the post with a felt marker, Crayon, or pencil. Take a Center PUNCH and make a Punch Mark on the line of the post where it faces the GATE. Then measure from this punch mark around to ONE HALF of the circumference for the OTHER SIDE, make a punch mark there. I have done this so many times I can EYEBALL IT, actually anyone can eyeball it by simply taking a close look at it. But I ALWAYS scribe a LINE for "level" then eyeball the punch mark.
After marking the two punch Marks, drill a 3/16 or 1/4 or even a 5/16 or 3/8 pilot hole at each punch mark. Any of those will work for a Pilot. I like to use a 1/4 inch drill for the pilot, but you can use what ever you have amongst or close to those I noted Then take a 5/8 drill and drill the finished hole. You can do this at the SHOP, but I PREFER to do it on site AFTER setting the post and allowing the concrete to CURE. By doing it at the SITE you can get the holes EXACTLY where you want them.
In some locations you might NOT be able to drill the holes as they might be close to a WALL or some other obstruction, then of course it might be BETTER to drill it BEFORE SETTING THE POST. You can drill the POST at the site BEFORE SETTING but you can still "DRY FIT IT" to see if it will WORK. Or use a wrap around Pintle Hinge.
This above gate I would try to NEVER SELL. But it is probably a decent seller for those trying to "do it themselves" for cheap. It is too unprofessioinal looking for a "FENCE COMPANY" in my opinion. They Make Cast Pot Metal fittings for the corners, I would use THOSE before I would do it like this as the finish product looks better. However the pot metal corners have been known to break or crack, but most of the time they are fine, I PREFER WELDED THOUGH. My gates of this size are WELDED and I use TENSION BARS with Tension Bands. I would use 1 3/8 OD .095 wall thickness and weld it with Shielded Metal Arc Welding or MIG. I use 11 Gauge galvanized after weaving fabric and STEEL Tie Wire.
I realize not everyone has that capability, and need something done quick and cheap as their budget might not allow calling a "Fence Company" to do it. But "Drilling" if you have a portable drill motor with a Half Inch Chuck that is AC POWERED and a 5/8 Necked down Twist Drill that is all you need, no drill press required. I have several Drill Presses, as a RULE I like to drill my Posts ON SITE to get them just like I want them. On non-Galvanized Posts I use a CUTTING torch to blow the holes.
