Revisiting... The Cleveland Cavaliers

  • The inevitable has happened... LeBron James has left Cleveland again. This time, under less controversial circumstances. There was no major fanfare, no "Decision". There was just a small announcement that most of us saw coming.
Even after a brief time after I released a vid on this team, the nuclear fallout may already be well on its way. For all of his faults and ego, LeBron was the only reason the Cavs were relevant. This may get ugly for the Cavs.
At least you've got that championship to cling onto as the fires of the Cuyahoga consume you. A lot of other teams may be joining you soon.
And this was before the Warriors signed a Boogie to rehab in peace and potentially win a championship before cashing in. This league is fucked.

Want to know the most depressing part of all of this? That NBA Haters Guide I made had a near-100 percent accuracy rating with this move. A zero-effort shitpost nearly got everything right with this league. Hooray for predictability...

Don't really care, now they will. Thanks Lebron for leaving, now they realized he is bad for every team he goes to nowadays, acting as a GM just fucks every team up like we see in The Lakers now. His trades away have become studs and the players coming in are just complete mess, AD being injured every time, Westbrick, Melo too unconsistent, piling too much pressure to the younger talent and bitching about the team he build plus blaming the front office and Fogel... He is just a delusional old man, maybe he is a superstar but he ain't a GM, reminds me of MJ back in the days..

Ohio professional sports are just dreadful, particularly over the last 30 years.
Bengals haven't won a playoff game since 1990, Browns haven't won a playoff game since 1994, Reds haven't won a playoff series since 1995, Blue Jackets haven't won a playoff series in their 18-year existence and have given up 3+ goals in all 21 playoff games they've played, and the Indians have lost 3 World Series including one in which they led by one run in the bottom of the ninth and one in which they had a 3-1 series lead. Their one bright spot has been LeBron James and the Cavs, and we've already seen a preview of what the team will look like without him (2010-2013).

The '18 NBA Finals even with a 4-game sweep still did much better in ratings in US than the Stanley Cup Finals. However the Cup Finals Clinching game drew close to 10 Million TV viewers in America alone. Not that long ago as late as 1994, the Cup Finals did not have any games on the Big 4 stations i.e NBC, ABC, CBS or Fox at all.

Very true Ben. At least in Canada, always every Stanley Cup playoff game was always shown on a major national channel on free tv or basic cable on either CBC/Rogers Sportsnet (currently) or in recent past TSN, ESPN's sister channel in Canada.
It was maybe the biggest travesty in tv sports history, that other than of then handful of viewers who had cable tv then i.e I think ESPN had US NHL TV rights during most of the period say 1980 -'94, and the US teams in the Cup finals, almost no one in the US saw the early '80's Now Legendary Islanders team or the Wayne Gretzky led Oilers. At least back then the then big 3 US networks i.e CBS NBC or ABC (Fox started in early 1987)should have shown say at least the weekend games in the afternoon or any possible clinching Game 6 or 7 in prime time as well. Well that history though lol.
Back to the upcoming 2019 NBA season. Other than games with say Lebron's now Lakers club or the Warriors(which almost every game will be on so called National TV on either NBA TV or the main channels ESPN/ABC and Turner)I am sure the TV ratings might tank mainly with the lower level teams. Until the NBA playoffs start as a Long time NBA fan, I may not even watch hardly any games in the regular season anymore until this "Superteam" crap stops.

Ryan Williams bull shit. Cleveland did build around lebron. Lebron got what he wanted. Older guys who could shoot. The first year we went to the finals he had guys that could play defense.
Two years in a row after that the cavs were the number one seed in the east and blew it. The cavs should have beaten the magic that year.
When lebron came back the cavs gave lebron everything he wanted. We over paid all of lebron games guys. The cavs made lebrons friends coaches.
Look at the situation now. No one wants to play with lebron in LA. That's his fault.

    • @thatonewriter8043
      @thatonewriter8043 Před 6 lety +10

Literally every move was stamped and approved by LeBron. The organization (minus the owner footing the bill) knelt with their faces in the dirt to grovel at the feet of LeBron. It's impossible to say they didn't build around him when he was the one calling the shots. When he wanted a guy, they went after him. When he told them to resign someone, they did, damn the costs necessary. If they couldn't get a guy, it was 100% LeBron's fault, just like when guys wouldn't come to L.A. because of Kobe's ego.
I just find it hilarious that LeBron is going to L.A. to compete, even though this just means he's unlikely to even see the Finals again in his career if the Warriors don't break up eventually or suffer awful injuries. I also find it funny in a sort of pitiful way that Cleveland's fervent grip on LeBron in a bid to stay relevant will likely cost them at least a decade in the basement. They could have let LeBron walk like we all knew he would, and if they had done so when Kyrie wanted out, they could have made him the face and built around him.
