What an interesting experience! Maybe the sharks are on vacation? On a serious note, all this talk about a "green" economy and no one is doing anything to clean up the pollution humans contribute to our oceans. Air quality is important, but cleaning up our waste before it gets to our oceans should be our #1 priority!

I'm not even some hardcore environmentalist (I think too many are nuts) & personally think our hyperfocus on carbon is a bit out of step with reality but I've been saying the same since the very start of the green movement.
Our oceans & rivers make up over 2/3 of our planet & imo should be our primary focus. If the ocean ecosystem collapses (& there are some deadzones now) we are screwed as the majority of our oxygen comes from the ocean (current estimate 50 to 80%.) And with our hyperfocus on carbon those promoting this should realize that naturally, as our Earth hosts a giant connected biosphere, our ocean also pulls out the majority of our carbon from our atmosphere acting as a massive "carbon sink."
So basically our oceans are acting as our reverse lungs, even more so than all the rainforests & other flora combined on land. This should prompt an awareness of some basic things like chemical dumping, ensuring the chemicals are turned inert prior to doing so. Also the effects of microplastics in our oceans which have then been naturally transfered so that now all life, including ourselves, now have microplastics in our bodies. While Earth's ecosystem has naturally begun filling in the gap & created some things that digest plastics we really need a new easy to manipulate compound for throw away containers which is biodegradable. In general though we need to move to permanent use items in our life & less throw away stuff. This would change a lot by itself.
Sorry, that's kinda long. But yeah, absolutely 100% agree.

@@BiblicallyAccurateToaster I appreciate the response and agree with you because we need to live in harmony with the environment. As far as we know, this is the only planet in our Solar System that will support life as we know it!

@@The_chill_man.4989 There have only been a couple hundred sightings of them since they were discovered in the 70's. They were either ones that were caught or sightings in the deep sea. They can be found in a lot of places, but they are so rarely seen that very little is known about them.
