    Indian war/black metal scene which is based at Kolkata is known as K. I. O. P. or Kolkata inner order propaganda has so many great bands (Beside Tetragrammacide & Aparthiva Raktadhara) such as Banish, Necrodeity, Jyotisavedanga, Brahmastrika, Kapala, Nirriti, Vadhakarmadhikarin, Naramedha, Dakini, Mesmeric Revelation also PE/noise projects such as Abhyutthan and Utsarg. Check them out if you are interested in Kolkata sound.

    Love this scene. Banished, Brahmastrika, Tetragrammacide, Jyotusavedanga, Tsalal, Genocide Shrines. Love the industrial noise these bands add to their music. I need a bullet belt and a gas mask to wear while banging to these bands.

    New Aparthiva Raktadhara full length is God tier. Pretty much positioned as my favorite death metal record this year. It's literally a gold mine for evilly twisted riffs and inhumane drumming, pure class.

    Used to live in kolkata for job purposes but never thought would see the city's underground scene on a metal channel like this. Its pity that it doesn't get the recognition it deserves while being constantly berated by the poser bands as the real diehards know that they carry the truest spirit of any extreme music.
    Reallyy wish all the early bands release their recordings, share it with the world.

    A fun fact: Danish DM scene, another scene covered in Overkill Global, and Turkish DM scene share a lot of members between them. For example, Hyperdontia guitarist Mustafa Gurcalioglu also plays in both Diabolizer and Engulfed, he played in Burial Invocation too.

      Bolt Thrower isn't war metal, they're old school death metal. War metal is a style of black metal which incorporates a lot of death metal and grindcore influence. The first war metal band is Blasphemy (Blayne mentioned them earlier) and as far as I'm concerned it isn't really a regional scene, there are war metal bands all over the world

    I usually follow the Bangers TV cause originally at least with one of the recent programm (South Korean scene) we may get a good notion on what's going on not only in Metal scene itself but the crossover (or not so) and anyways the hardcore and noisy acts... but this time... common, "War" Metal?!!! what a opportunistic (in all pejorative sense of the term) way to get clicks! First, is it really a genre? Some assumed that yes and many bought it. I won't go right to the literature, but please, defenders, explain then, cause this 21:04 vid don't. Assuming that the SriLankan and India's bands on it do the so called genre is pure reductionism. So what about "Peace" Metal, please, provide me a dissertation. We had acts like At War, the early Destruction, the late Sodom, Tank, oooh, are these just what War Metal is about? No more tags and media labelling to what they don't have a single clue, most of times. Don't put bands in buckets, trying to encapsulate the whole dynamics, let they doing their art without this war bullshit.

    • @GreatBeardofWisdom
      @GreatBeardofWisdom Před 2 lety +2

      Well, it’s a sub genre of death metal really. There might well be peace metal bands that play out similarly to Christian black metal bands. Getting a stick up your ass because of hairs being split genre wise doesn’t help the argument that metal heads are open minded. Ultimately, if it bothers you that much, just enjoy the music and don’t pay the particulars of the genre no mind.
