BEST Peking Duck in New York! $140 Peking Duck With Caviar?!

- I LOVE Peking Duck, it's one of my all time favorite foods. The crispy melt in your mouth skin, the amazing juiciness of the meat wrapped up in that chewy thin crepe with fresh veggies and sauce creates a delicious meaty crunchy combo that is unmatched.
There has been a lot of new restaurants in New York City that has begun serving Peking Duck, so I decided to try them out. For this video I went to Elaine's Asian Bistro in Long Island, DaDong, which is a Michelin Starred restaurant from China, Decoy and some roast duck from Wah Fung my favorite Chinese BBQ place in New York.
For some reason, the Decoy video footage was lost, I really have no idea how that happened but it was just gone. Personally, I did not enjoy eating there. First of all, if you want to have the duck it takes some effort. You either have to book a reservation which will subject you and everyone you're dining with to a mandatory $75 per person set meal and this could mean up to 5-6 people sharing one duck and for $75 per person that is outrageous. If you want to just eat their duck on its own, then you have to show up right as they open at 5 and ask if they have an extra one laying around. Seriously. If they don't then no duck for you. For the sake of getting this right, I went twice and the first time the duck was not bad, skin was mostly crispy and tasty, the duck meat was juicy and the sauces they give you are great. But the second time the skin was chewy and tough, not very consistent. So for all the hassle and price, I don't recommend this place.
Da Dong, as I mentioned, the skin will be the best you'll ever have on a Peking duck. EXTREMELY amazing, but the duck meat is dry and tasteless.
Elaine's is my go to Peking Duck place but located a bit outside of the city.

Thank you for mentioning the opulence and refinement of Peking Duck and how the incredible skin is the focal point of the dish, as compared with regular roast duck that you can get in Chinatown (in San Francisco where I am). Peking Duck is indeed fine dining.

I love duck. My parents got married in Montreal. They tried Peking duck, duck soup and the duck in crepes. As a child we'd travel to Canada on their anniversary and feast on duck. Happy memories. Amazing food.

I love Peking duck . In typical restaurants , after they de-skin it , the extra meat are used for stir fry dish with spring onions and the bones are for soup . One duck 3 dish . Worth it for the family

Hey Mike--I know Peking Duck quite well. Best Peking Duck anywhere is Mr. Chow on East 57th Street. When you make the reservation, tell them you are having the Peking Duck. It will blow you away!!! If you want to know how to structure your gourmet meal, let me know. There are 3 parts to a dinner at Mr. Chow--one of the great Manhattan restaurants.

i craved peking duck SO hard that i learned how to make it. Been making it at home ever since and I think I do quite well. I even got myself a pump just for inflating the skin. I don't have room to hang my duck but I hover it in a rack in my fridge. Kinda like dry aging.

Peking duck is hands down one of my favourite dish. (truthfully any duck dish gets a thumbs up) Though, I have never had it with caviar before. How decadent. I need to eat out with you!
I make my own version of Orange 🍊 Duck at home every Fall, I have to tweak the recipe a little bit because of my diet but still turns out really yummy. I use Cara cara 🍊 and Sweet Potatoes 🍠 and Apples 🍎 and just a half of a Onion and of corse I baste it while it’s cooking up.

Hey Mike, I love your videos and enjoy seeing you try so many different types of cuisine. Since Peking duck is my favorite Chinese dish, just wanted to clarify something. The traditional sauce is tianmianjiang, a black bean sauce, not hoisin sauce. Da Dong is great, but I've only had it in Beijing. If you go again, try to get the Xiao Yazi (you may need two haha). I'm not sure if they have it in NYC, but it's the most tender duck ever. Anyway, if you ever want recommendations for where to eat Peking duck in LA, go to Duck House (I'd be more than happy to eat that meal with you lol)!

Mike, I grew up in Chinese Restaurant family. Learned to make dim sums and also how Peking or Beijing duck. There a restaurant in San Francisco ran by George Chen called 8 Tables and very fancy it Chinese but served in a French style cost 225 a person set 11 courses dinner.

I have a whole duck in the oven at the moment! It's coated in 5spice powder (that I made myself) lots of salt and pepper too. Can't wait to see how it comes out! Steamed jasmine rice and stir fry veggies to go with 💓😍💁♀️

Nope the best is in Las Vegas at the Aria hotel. The restaurant is called the blossom and I saw 2o+ Peking duck go out including mine. It was $100.00 bucks and they gave me the rest of the wonderfull duck meat to have. Bloody FANTASTIC.
I can’t find good Peking duck where I live, so I’ve made do with crispy roast duck I cook myself w hoisin, scallion and wrappers I also make myself - can’t wait for the day I get to try actual Peking duck 🤤🤤
