  • It wasn’t just castles that William built to stamp his mark on England. The Normans were Christian: this sees a complete restructuring of the English church as well as new Romanesque architecture. In this episode, Jack visits St Albans Abbey, one of the Cathedrals built under William I.

Well communicated, showing not only the use of church to hold power, but how politics played inside the church and how it (the Vatican or papacy) made decision that benefits themselves.

@@Historia_Group Great to hear there's more to come. There is definitely a niche for it as there is nothing so detailed and of this quality. Thank you.

The finest Romanesque cathedral is almost certainly Durham. One of the World’s most important buildings.
