  • The day finally came to do some jacket shopping for Monika, so we popped into Krazy Horse in Bury St Edmunds.
    And I headed over to the Post Office to get an International Drivers Permit

    Regarding women's gear, it's a nightmare. Not much choice in shops, so I often have to buy online without trying on. Retro look, Merlin is good. If you like short jackets, Oxford Holwell wet waxed cotton.
    If you have a petite frame, go for European clothes, I like Ixon. If you are more generous frame or have wider shoulders go British or German. I haven't tried MotoGirl yet but they have some nice styles. Hope that helps.
    Cmon Moto shops! Women's gear is a growing market and we will pay more to look good 😁

    • @lilynorthover8378
      @lilynorthover8378 Před rokem +1

      Try French or Italian, maybe Spanish, Portugese. The latter do good helmets. Try to keep them on as long as you can and look down, up, side to side, bend right over. Be honest with yourself, they might look good but if they move about or hurt anywhere, it's not going to get better. You won't wear it. Good luck 😊

      @@lilynorthover8378 I always recommend Arai helmets. They make multiple helmet shapes and are extremely comfortable. The higher end models have a unique micro adjustment in the pads where you can peel back layers for a customized fit.

      @lilynorthover8378 Před rokem +1

      @Eric S, you absolutely get what you pay for with helmets as far as comfort goes. I would say and it's my personal opinion, after your bike and training, the next most money you should spend is on your helmet. Having said that, I have an £80 open face helmet that I love but it doesn't have a sun visor.

And yes, it was good advice. The officer who stopped me for some nonsense had a look into the licence, took the cash and let me off the hook with a generous gesture. The Post Office has gone downhill since privatisation, now that shareholder profits are more important than customer service. That's the most high-end bike shop i've ever seen! I don't believe we have anything like it here in the US. It might be best, if Monika is buying just one jacket for all seasons, to consider a mesh jacket with a well insulated liner. Cheers!

    Hi Freddie sportsbikeshop just so you are aware in the future have a vast range of motorcycle cloths helmets, boots, coats, gloves, and more plus bike equipment on line but what makes it so good you can go in store and try on as many different sizes styles before you actually buy. They have several store nationwide. I use Boston as its closest to me and the prices are very competitive. But I just love the fact you can try before you buy. Hope this is some help.

    Bury St Edmunds has always been to me, one of those places that you wiz past on the way North, (My main home is in The English Lake District) or on the way back to the Debenham area where I have a small Farm.
    It is full of very serious English history , so I am now determined to go there and enjoy some exploring!

    Lovely smooth video camera work as usual, no horrid fast swings, just slow, stable moves - then looking at the detail, and hesitating a bit to take it in. Very slick work, and I guess some stabilisation is happening too. But it turns the videos into a work of art - Freddie is a bit quick with his movements but he is trying to cram a lot of info/detail in so I will forgive him!!
    About women's clothing - we found Richa a very good fit for the generous woman, but was in their textile range, and that was all we needed - something that fitted, fashion was not a consideration so much, but it had to fit the womanly frame. Its nice to see the lovely Monika in the camera shot for a change, a lovely, patient and great partner for you Freddie - and she giggles at times too!! Good luck with the International DL, it may be cheaper in the long run to get it!!

    I am old enough to remember when Belstaff was the budget option! My first set of riding gear was Belstaff trousers and jacket, which cost less than £100! If I am not wearing leathers I have a Merlin wax cotton jacket, which was about £200 and I have been very happy with. I have checked and they have a ladies range too.

Tbh when I look at it, it was a waterproof coat,zero protection. Very over rated and very over priced imo. I have sold all my one piece leathers now and wear knox jeans and jackets. Very comfy and very safe

I am really hoping the post office and Royal Mail closes. I am sick of their bleating still charging their charges with published services they don’t provide. Bring in some competition get rid of them. They are like the BBC past it. The Brits need some teeth like the French public vote with their feet. The NHS will be emergency care and all else private. Public services are ripping the crap out the tax payer. Guaranteed sick pay/ pensions wether service provided or not. This country needs a reset

    Hi Freddie, you’re doing better than the Tourist Board for Bury St Edmunds! Krazy Horse is a wonderful dealer to visit, but the prices are also quite high. Not that they charge more for the same products, it’s just that Barbour and Belstaff are pricey. It’s probably because they’ve become fashionable, as well as functional. Anyway, I thought I’d point you in the direction of a really interesting little place - Blake House Craft Centre at Blake End (near Braintree). There’s some really interesting little craft shops, a bicycle shop, and Armadillo Customs, who I am sure will offer Monika the opportunity of some decent gear at a reasonable price. I’ve no connection to them, but have received excellent service. A very interesting place (they offer bikes and servicing also)

    I am a 59 year old biker with 40 years riding experience. I posess my original Belstaff Trialmaster jacket from the early 1980. I agree the way forward for Monika is to wear her trusted Barbour jacket with offroad membrane body armour. Its a clever solution and will provide comfort, waterproofing plus level 2 protection in one package. 👍 One thing I have learnt is that anything sold with "motorcycle" in it's description has usually been inflated hugely in price. It's actually a disgrace and the reason I always try to find an alernative. Look at LOMO dry bags for divers instead of dry bags for motorcyclists and you will be pleseantly shocked with the savings possible. Besides, a simple trusty Barbour jacket is no different to my old 1980 Belstaff which has no armour. Don't forget that Belstaff is primarily a designer make with ridiculous prices compared to British Barbour offerings. Plus until recently Belstaff was ITALIAN !
