Both sound nice.If i had to choose, maybe the polk, the mids a little bit more forward. Thanks for the demo.
I agree with you about the bass. In the upper frequencies the Polk Audio seemed a little equalized, too bright, while the CA sounded more natural and vintage. I don’t know what I would choose, probably different speakers for different genres.
On my set up at home, the Polk sounded more detailed on the top end but the bass seemed less controlled. Perhaps listen off axis to soften the top end. Love your reviews!
Great review. I have xt15 and denon dm 40 with subwoofer in my livingroom and sound is good for my.
Tnx.. Greatings from Croatia. Cheers
As you remarked bigger and punchy bass is exciting but, for long term listening I find less bass more pleasing and less fatiguing.
Overall, at least to my ears, the Polk sounded superior in every sense. Long live the sound tests!
Great review as always, I thought the polks sounded a bit u shaped, like you had boosted the treble and bass a bit on the tone controls compared to the Cambridge. But I can imagine that with certain music they are gonna be fab, however I reckon your right with movies they are gonna be spot on. Polk is one of the few brands I have never ever owned.
Those are not XT series. He reviewed a much worse T series.
I'm not sure how this would affect reviews, but some desktop speaker stands (w a slight angle) make these and any small bookshelves sound wayy better.
The polk 🎉
150 watts i have the same wharfedales as you and they are only 100 watt, the Polk sound better they have a great top end and a great price.
I ordered the Polk monitors for mixing recordings on my DAW for music library submissions. I was told they would be great for that. From what I’ve heard since, I’m now wondering if this brand is not geared for this type of use.
You want a real monitor speaker. Take a look at krk rockt. Lots of audio engineers use them.
little fatiguing, thats a problem I have a 30 year old pair of Yamahas i listen to 10 hours a day, looking for a set of back speakers then a 5.1 system or 7.2 so not these... thanks very much. I thought the speakers were done but it was my optical output from my Samsung TV still a great TV but eARC may be better?
Nice vid again..Now,Shut the Front Door, and get a pair of Focal Chorus 700 series ;)
I've shut the front door...where are the Focals? 🤔
There was a pair on eBay for ages at £100, just checked and they've vanished.. cheapest I see are £200 and the smaller 705v,,still great deal tho .
Great little babys..
POLK sound better than CA overall to me. More detail I think, a bit more sparkle.
Nice video. I'm a big speaker guy, but I wanted a cheap pair with good sound below 75 dBA near field listening
late at night in the man cave, and I went with the Elac BS41 as the clear bang for the buck winner, since no under 100w amplifiers exist here, so sensitivity was not an issue.
What amp are you using to drive them
Rotel RA01
Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 are better 🙂
They are laid back, warm, sort of muddy. Definitely won’t pick them over the Polks
