    I LOVE using the Walmart app even if I am going into store I will put everything into my cart previously to stay in budget then I’ll delete the items as I put them into cart. It’s helped me so much to stay in budget.

      Ok this is actually a great idea! That way you can be the one to pick the items, I feel like I would pick better bananas or berries than when I get a pick up order

    I would love to see a what my toddler eats in a day video and how you budget for snacks and lunches. I have a toddler as well and he eats a ton of snacks.

    • @BethGraceMoore
      @BethGraceMoore  Před 11 měsíci +8

      I’ve thought about filming this but my toddler eats more at meal times than a typical toddler her age so I didn’t know if it would even be helpful to see - I know picky eating can be such a struggle so I haven’t wanted to add to any comparison around that... 😭 but for lunches, she (and my 8 month old) always eat either leftovers from dinner the previous night or a toddler “charcuterie” which usually includes crackers, cheese, cucumbers or baby carrots, fruit, and some sort of meat for protein! For snacks we do lots of fruit, veggies, cheese, nuts, raisins and I also do homemade trail mixes and homemade granola bars. We do also buy goldfish (I love goldfish lol), cheerios and apple sauce!

      Same. I've been working on bringing in more defined snack times for this reason and so were only ever eating at the table. Helps keep the snack foods down a bit. Breakfast 7am, Morning Tea 10am, Lunch Time 12pm, Afternoon Tea 3pm, Dinner Time 6pm. Snack times are often homemade sourdough (very cheap to produce) and fruit or yoghurt so nothing overly packaged. You really do pay for the packaging! Homemade granola bars or oat cookies are another great option that are filling but a bit sweet.

    Hey girl hey!! I am currently 10 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and your channel literally feels God-sent to me. Thank you so much for everything you're doing to help us expecting mommas out, Beth!! God bless you and your growing family, always. 💓🙏 If you happen to see this, I am wondering if you'd be comfortable sharing your experiences with how to budget for a newborn. I know every baby is different, but it would be super helpful getting an idea, especially living in Canada! Lol I'm from Alberta and although I am grateful that taxes aren't as bad, everything just feels so expensive. 😭

    Loved your tips and examples! Mine are limiting convenience items. Shopping generic brands. Shopping from my house first so i am supplementing what we already have to work with so meals are planned accordingly. Choosing in season produce. Buy sales, clearance/markdowns. Use cuts of meat that arent the most expensive and find unique and tasty ways to use them

    Hi Grace, love your channel!!!
    I just wanted to share my ultimate meal prep recipe that I do for my husband every week, its within a cheap budget and high in protein, if any fellow ladies are also meal prepping for their husbands work 🤍
    Save the bacon and sausage drippings!!! I save EVERY drop and cook up a pound of ground beef in it. Total game changer for flavor. Then I sautee one or two potatoes in home rendered ghee (super easy & cheap) and like 8 eggs and maybe some rice. Freeze all your leftover cooked bacon - it thaws perfectly in this recipe. Keeps perfect in the fridge for five days easy.

    That amount for US is probably in cities or for those who aren’t trying to budget at all. We spend around 750/month for a family of 7 and we eat whole, natural foods, mainly avoid processed (my kids occasionally do have Annie’s Mac & cheese, so not 100%) but we mainly eat produce, meat, fish, seeds, beans, brown rice, quinoa, oats, nuts (real nuts like macadamia nuts, almonds, cashews, Brazil nuts, not peanuts, which are much cheaper, but legumes). Most of what we buy is organic. We make a lot from scratch. I have even found it literally only takes 15 mins of hands on time to make our sandwich bread from scratch. We live in the Midwest now so groceries aren’t as high as out east, though it is more expensive than when we lived out West. It can vary so much from area to area. We also buyer cheaper cuts instead of things like steak. I dislike steak anyways, but my husband loves it. Since our family knows we don’t buy it, when his family visits, they will get him steak at restaurant as a fun treat, make it when we visit (very infrequent since they live across the country), and my dad will bring some for holidays. They don’t have to, but it is super thoughtful and makes it more fun and special than if he had it all of the time. Otherwise we mainly do organic ground beef, routisserie chicken, and pork butt. Ham and turkey seasonally, when on sale. And the kids and I love salmon burgers, tuna, and sardines. Our kids have their daddy’s insanely fast metabolism too so they eat more than most adults. So the sheer quantity we go through is a lot and I usually have to double or quadruple recipes I find. 🫣 Thanks for sharing your tips and ideas! 🥰

    We've been trying to be more conscious lately of grocery cost but oh my goodness are groceries expensive. We meal plan but have a lot of dietary restrictions right now so its still pricey, but shopping at Aldi for some stuff helps! I would love to see a week of dinners (with cost included of each meal) and more grocery/cooking videos.

    This is how I generally meal plan too! Learning to cook from scratch is definitely a game changer. A tip I have is knowing what meals you can make with specific ingredients to make sure you use them up. For example, if I get plain Greek yogurt I know I’m going to make Greek food (use the yogurt for a marinade and the tzatziki) butter chicken (marinade and naan bread) and some overnight oats for breakfast. Long gone are the days are letting ingredients go bad in the fridge!!

    We buy meats in bulk from a local organic free range farm. From there we make sure we have our staples and weekly we will get fresh produce! We probably spend like $350-400/mo USD. Thats with a few convenience items as we are surviving 2u2 😅
    I also want to add in we have a decent garden so thats saving us a bit currentky!

    We meal plan and cook mostly from scratch, but groceries are insanely expensive here in New Zealand. We pay about $1500 NZD per month for three adults and one toddler (about $1000 USD). That does include food, cleaning products, baby supplies, and toiletries though.

    This video came in clutch for me. We are a family of two with one on the way and I find that we spend around $200/week on groceries. It’s actually ridiculous. 😅. My hubs is a protein freak. He eats so much protein (beef and chicken) during the week that makes meal planning more expensive. I will be using the tips in this video

    Through 2020/2021 I wasn't really keeping track of how much we were spending on groceries. When I finally realized how much we were spending on food I needed to start meal planning. we are still spending a bit more than I would like however the progress we have made is hopeful. Groceries are expensive here in Canada I will say.

    This is definitely my goal, I just don't know where to begin with the "how to cook". I will find a recipe that sounds good and then go to the grocery store for the ingredients and what do you know, 3 planned meals comes out to $200 USD. And then with cooking it I take so long and am glued to the recipe on my phone like google maps in a new area. Then, good luck getting the side done at the same time as the entree. I'm a mess in the kitchen.

    • @BethGraceMoore
      @BethGraceMoore  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Try to find some recipes with ingredients that overlap, I find that's always helpful for cutting costs! For example, you could plan to do burritos and chilli in one week and a lot of those ingredients would overlap which cuts back on cost... and when it comes to easy recipes, searching for things that are quick and don't have a ton of ingredients on Pinterest could be helpful as well - start with low maintenance and work up from there! Try looking up "simple sheet pan dinners" and see if anything catches your eye!

    Groceries arre difficult right now. We are a family of 4. Also in Canada, ans now that i have one teen and one growing five year old, I had to up the budget to $600/month.. $125/week is GREAT! Thats exactly what i did with little kids, we sre vegetarian and i actually find that easier... Beans are cheap! Mine inckudes toilet paper cleaning etc but not pets. Dumbest idea we wver had was the 4 pets we have lol! Love them but... on our income we really shouldn't have... We could use that money. Oh well, lesson learned. Well enjoy them while we can! Because of how much the teen is eating i ahop at costco now which is very challenging onnthis budget but basically we just dont get any cool stuff
