- Echoes of wisdom is the first mainline Zelda game to star Princess Zelda as the main playable character, but, just because this is her first time in the staring role does not mean it is her first time ever playable.

~ What is your favourite Zelda to play as?
AOC, Smash, and Spirit tracks. I kinda wish we have a playable Zelda in TOTOk. Have no dlc of the master mode and a companion story is obviously a mistake.
tetra. for a few reasons
1: my personal favorite zelda, from my personal favorite zelda game
2: G U N .
Age of Calamity (Only time I've ever played as Zelda)
Hyrule Warriors, because she's the most badass, her visual is my favorite by far and it's awesome to see her in primetime action
@@henrystickminfan2 GUN 😂
Spirit Tracks deserves so much more respect: not only this game's the only playable Zelda in a mainline game (up until EoW), she's also got the most charming personality, and KICKS ASS in her phantom armour. Don't even get me started on the final battle **chef's kiss**
@@hummus_exual she is one of my favourite versions of Zelda, I love her so much
I'll say the Zelda in Cadence of Hyrule, just because that gane is so much fun. I love the music, I love the art style, and the combat is so much fun.
The art style for that game is so nice
Also in that game.. The map was basically like a link to the past.. Hyrule castle in the center as well
@@jasmineBloodrose And Link's awakening, too.
The Warriors games and Smash have been my favorite ways to play as Zelda. I just wish we had more control in Spirit Tracks since we basically just gave her a path to follow and then sat back to watch. It would have been more fun to move and attack as her ourselves.
maybe if re get a remake they could change how she plays
If you consider how things control in the DS games, Zelda in Spirit Tracks was more like an item than a character.
when Zelda unlocks her powers in Age of Calamity she becomes a completely different character. She suddenly is unbelievably powerful! Seeing her like this and playing her like a real Hylia reincarnate was so epic and I hate that they didn't make this possible in Tears of the Kingdom. There she somehow forgets about all her abilities, like literal flight (we get to see that at the end of BotW) and helplessly falls down a pit. I cannot begin to imagine how epic a fight between a fully powered up Zelda and Ganondorf would have been.
her awakened powers are so fun to use i honestly only really play her with them because its so fun
She didn't forget.. in the True Ending of BOTW, pay attention to her dialogue. She exhausted her light powers holding back Ganon for 100 years. THAT is why she cannot use them in the start of totk. Plus, TotK is a closed time loop. It was essentially destined for her to fall back in time.
@@SuperZeldaGirl But Still Zelda Hasnt Awakened Her TRUE Powers But In The Start Of Totk She Was Reaching With Her LEFT Hand And Suddenly She Glowed And Was Gone This Makes Me Wonder If Her Power Was Awakened In Her Left Hand And Not Her Right Hand Could You Look Into That???????
So glad that you gave all of these games the recognition they deserve. I've always loved that Zelda takes such an active role in the story and gameplay of spirit tracks. And I loved both the Hyrule Warriors games as well as playing zelda in smash bros.
I was very happy to talk more about spirit tracks and to finally talk about the CDI games :P
Since Ganondorf’s body may exist in an alternate timeline Terrako has created, Nintendo needs to make a sequel to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (with Sidon, Riju, Teba, Tulin, Sidon, and Yunobo pulled from the OG timeline).
It would be a great way to make the Ancient Sages more fleshed out, give Rauru, Sonia, and Mineru more screentime, unraveling the origins of the Zonai, and explore in depth backstory of who Ganondorf is before he became the Demon King.
Either that, or make a Hyrule Warrior where Link and Zelda were both transported in the past, maybe. This way, they all fight along with the original sages, and maybe we can even save Sonia. And, because she survive, she then succeed into bringing Link and Zelda back to their time. (The possibility of the TOTK sages coming to help would be interesting, but I am not sure how this one would be done with my suggestion. (plus, it means having to name the previous sages)
As a Warriors fan I am all for this idea cause I love the stories that they're making the game actually quite fun
2024 is the year of our Nintendo Princesses (Peach and Zelda)!
While I am currently playing Princess Peach: Showtime, I am hella excited for upcoming Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom this September.
A playable Princess Zelda is something I have been long waiting since Skyward Sword and Spirit Tracks. And it would've helped benefited TOTK's story since the plot has been divided into two parts(from the perspectives of her and Link).
The year of royalty
I wonder if Echoes of Wisdom will influence her moveset if they make a new smash brothers
ooh that's a interesting thought. maybe they would have echoes Zelda as a new character so we have multiple Zelda's and links
@@SuperZeldaGirl Ok yeah you've convinced me. I originally thought they'd just give her a new moveset like BotW influenced Link, but they could absolutely introduce Echoes Zelda as "Toon Zelda"
Did you know that you were supposed to be able to play as Zelda in skyward sword as a second quest? But they sadly scrapped it. You can see what the story was like during the cutscenes that play during the credits.
I did know this, it’s sad it was removed it would have been cool to see Zelda’s side of the story more
Its always nice seeing a Zelda youtuber giving the Hyrule Warriors games the attention they deserve. Most ZeldaTubers tend to just ignore them, or if they do mention the games its very begrudgingly. So its noce to see some enthusiasm when mentioning them.
I also want to bring up that technically Hyruke Warriors has 5 playable Zeldas: Zelda, Sheik, Tetra, Toon Zelda, and Marin.
In Links Awakening Marin was made from Links memories of Zelda when in the dreamscape of the Windfish. And in Hyrule Warriors when fighting Marin as an enemy she drops Zeldas materials: Zeldas Broach and Tiara.
@@Ixbran I have let’s plays of both Hyrule warriors games on my channel if you are interested. I’m a big fan of both
Age of Calamity for me will always be nice to look back upon, and will always have a warm place in my heart. I followed your playthrough while I was playing through it myself for the first time.
While I wanted and was excited back then for Zelda to be playable, I ended up using Link, Mipha and especially Impa way more. ^^' Also, I somehow preferred the Goddess-awakened Zelda a lot more over Shiekah-Slate Zelda, and was way more comfortable playing with the former.
Haven't played Spirit Tracks so far, but after your video, I'm excited to try it out.
@@romano-britishmedli7407 awww that’s lovely to know you played along with me. Enjoy spirit tracks when you get around to playing it, it’s very good
Can we all agreed that Age of Calamity deserves a sequel?
I do not care if it is canon or non canon.
@@a.jthomas6132 I agree with you that it does deserve a sequel.
Either one following the AoC-timeline (Ganondorf is still down there, after all) or a "Hyrule Warriors: War of Imprisonment" - that would be really cool.
Honestly, especially in regards to theorizing (which was a huge reason why I was so excited for this game), I consider it mostly canon (with the exception of contradicting information to BotW/TotK, of course).
It's a really great game.
@@romano-britishmedli7407 I strongly believed Ganondorf’s body is still there in AOC timeline. The question is now is who can the Upheaval be like there. It would be interesting to see the Ancient Sages more fleshed out, provided more in depth to Ganondorf’s background, bringing back Twinrova and more. The possibilities are endless.
I do like to play as Zelda in Spirit Tracks because of all of the different Phantoms that she can control. I'm also really excited for Echoes of Wisdom because it feels so new and fresh for a Zelda Game. One final thing to add I do like how every Zelda that has been made playable have their own unique fighting styles and that makes them really unique, kind of like how every Link is unique
@@TheDimensionJumper spirit tracks Zelda is still one of my favourites! And it really is nice having all different styles of fighting
@@SuperZeldaGirl If Spirit Tracks ever gets a Remake I hope there's a mode in which Zelda posses the phantoms and toy have to try and take out as many of the other phantoms as possible
Hyrule Warriors Zelda is, to me, THE definition of a Warrior Princess.
She’s so cool
Just found ur channel! Really love the fun vids and analysis! You have so much knowledge of the series ! It’s so great to watch how passionate you are !
Thank you very much ☺️
For all the heat that the CDI games get, I always think it's impressive that they were able to make those cutscenes using what seemed to be nothing more than Microsoft Paint
Respect for giving the CD-i games their time in the spotlight.
They are apart of the series history it would be wrong not to ☺️
While I wish she had more active combat in her game (like her warriors games counterpart), I hope this at least paved the path forward to more mainline games where you can play as Zelda and actually have an active combat role using magic, light bow, and maybe even sheik transformation. It would be cool as a mix of action/stealth game which would differentiate her from link in addition to mainly using magic in combat instead of weapons.
nice selections. cant wait!
What I'd really like to see is a game where Link and Zelda are seperated and trying to get back to each other - Say one in the Dark world and one in the light world - What one does in one world affects the other - allowing you to switch back and forth between the characters to open up new areas.
Hyrule Warriors is honestly my favorite game in the Zelda series. It's a greatest hits album of LoZ characters and locations we're basically never going to see again, I enjoy the original characters and the new incarnations of recurring ones, and Warriors gameplay scratches my itch so well that I'm genuinely confused by people who call it a repetitive chore. So yeah, Hyrule Warriors is my favorite Zelda game, and Hyrule Warriors Zelda is my favorite version of her royal highness.
Oh my goodness, thank you for calling it top-down instead of 2D.
Also I love that you they/them Sheik! :3
Haha just saying it how it is 😉
I can't be the only one who noticed that Link's hat points upward when Zelda hugs him in Spirit Tracks. ;-)
Hyrule Warriors.. 😊 I played all the versions and get all the DLC and did everything. One of my favorite games 😊
@@mimiquoi7380 it’s so good I’m still yet to finish all the levels, so many of them
@SuperZeldaGirl, this might be wishful thinking on my part, but something about the title makes me think that this may actually be 1 part of a trilogy? "Echoes of Wisdom"..."(Something) of Power", "(Something) of Courage".
I have thought about this, it would be very nice to see if it does happen.
I am actually replaying Hyrule Warriors on my channel right now! Its been about a decade since I played it last. I am SO excited for EoW!! I think my favorite game where Zelda is playable as of now is Spirit Tracks. I love how much team work is involved with her and Link. Zelda being his companion in that game just works so well and the story is fantastic. Honorable mention: I do love Zelda’s moveset in smash bros. Great video!
@@SkySwordsAlisa oh you’re replaying it have fun! I let’s played both Hyrule warriors games here on the channel a while ago they are so much fun.
I'll always have a soft spot for TP Zelda because of Brawl. During the entire Subspace invasion, this badass magic lady kept her cool even in equivalent situations where Peach is taken by surprise instead. And the sneaking mission with her having transformed into Sheik for it was so cool cinematically (because in gameplay I just switched back to Zelda immediately, I cannot play Sheik for the life of me lmao).
Both Hyrule Warriors games were my only other times playing as her. I borderline became a god of combos with her rapier in HW Definitive Edition, and I thought her Sheikah Tablet moveset in Age of Calamity was so much fun that even when she unlocked her true powers I just stuck to the power of technology (indirectly fulfilling her canon wish for her to be able to fight back to the Calamity without these accursed powers whose attempts to awaken just caused her stress and nothing else).
I won't lie, I was bummed when Super Smash Bros Ultimate came out and yet we didn't get Breathe of the wild Zelda in the game. Though I know it's due to them not wanting to make a full new moveset for her. But with Tears of the Kingdom having come out I do hope we get both that version of her and Ganondorf in the next Smash Bros.
But to stay on top here I am looking forward to giving Echoes of Wisdom a try when it comes out this fall.
@@TheGamerSwordsman I was sad we didn’t get BOTW Zelda in smash but I love the design they did got with
It's probably going to be Echoes Zelda
BOTW Zelda doesn't look like a princess, and TOTK Zelda wouldn't have much to base her moveset around
@@SuperZeldaGirl Oh for sure. But let's just hope some characters do get a brand new move set in the next Smash Bros would be nice. Or if that doesn't happen at least let's hope we get updated characters even if the movesets are still old.
@@jesusramirezromo2037 Honestly as soon as they revealed Echoes of Wisdom I figured we'd get that version of Zelda in the next Smash Bros. Which will be interesting if that does indeed happen.
While I also wanted to play a game with Zelda as the primary character, I always despised the Idea of having her be an "She Link". I already play as a Soldier with Link. For her, I always wanted it to focus of her hole as a Ruler.
So, my dream "Zelda Game" would be a Tactics-like, where we can have Zelda be a commanding unity, forming her own personal army through the game (Age of Calamity was pretty close to fulfilling that wish).
As for Echoes of Wisdom. Although it isn't focused on the ruler/commander I wish for, having her main ability be a condensed version of "choosing the right person to the right job" is close enough, for now.
oooh a tactics like zelda game sounds very cool
I love watching compilation that truly mean it when they say "EVERY Time!", because I was gonna be mad if you didn't talk about the CDi games!
Speaking of which, I think Echoes of Wisdom may actually be a very subtle nod to Wand of Gamelon, because the Tri Rod is essentially a wand, so.... What do you think?
Also, to answer your pinned question, my favorite Zelda to play as would be her Master Cycle form in Age of Calamity!
haha if it is a little nod to the cdi game it would be so funny, i like that idea. thank you very much is well
Fantastic video! I'd go as far as to say Age of Calamity is Zelda's best role to date and she's totally the MC of the game.
Thank you very much. Zelda really is incredible in that game
I really enjoyed this!!!
@@joshuaescobar7877 thank you ☺️
I appreciate you starting all the way back and acknowledging the existence of the Phillips games because it took Nintendo a long time before they trust the Zelda series in another hands
Edit I believe the first time they did and I looked it up also was for the Oracle games in the 2000s which capcom probably at that point had made themselves known of actually producing decent games
@@theiriskrissgamingandmisce916 I’m glad you liked me going back to the cdi games. They may be hated but they are still apart of the series history
Also, if you piss off Zelda in Spirit Tracks, she'll attack you...
As she should
Actually, Zelda uses a wand as her weapon in Zelda's Adventure, not a sword. But it does look and function pretty much identically to the sword in other 2D Zelda games.
I love Zelda in AoC, she's my most powerful character. I love raining divine destruction down on my enemies with the bow of light!
Hyrule Warriors DE is one of my favorite games.
Both Hyrule Warriors games are my favorites.
@@ZayaMillis that are so much fun
8:29 Isn't Marin basically born from Link's Memories of Zelda when he entered the Wind Fish's Dream?
I just wish for her first official solo outing, she was actually cool. I would have loved to see her as Tetra for example.
I love both Hyrule Warriors, but the first is my favorite of the two because of Impa and her design. Also, the fact she uses a Nodachi and a Naginata.
Tetra would have been nice but this zelda is cool. shes ready to set a army of monsters out to find link

Zelda can summon Zelda in SSB4 and SSBU
In smash 4 and ultimate you summon the phantom Zelda

Spirit Tracks is my fav because Zelda and Link works together as a team
its so nice seeing them do so much together
I love game with teamwork mechanics. Mario & Luigi, Bug Fables, Lost Vikins. Now hopefuly in the future something like that for the Zelda feanchise could come true.
Imagine play as Link and Zelda in more equal positions. Or even that cancelled DS game with a hero of each race going to save Link
Smash Ultimate Zelda should get her own starring game…
And as the magic-wielding spellcaster I’ve grown to love…
@@TomMooreT2S that designs one of my favourites it would be nice to have the alttp/albw design in a game that isn’t top down for once
@SuperZeldaGirl
I even had ideas:
- A 3D collect-a-thon similar to Banjo-Kazooie
- Zelda has to traverse a series of levels with each one with unique flavor
- SMASH ULTIMATE ZELDA IS THAT ZELDA!
- ZELDA IS VOICED (Brandy Kopp possibly to reprise her role to voice Zelda from her single spoken line of dialogue in the World of Light intro cutscene; she or any actress with a convincing American accent.)
- Her combat skills is based on magic; mostly elemental, with her Smash color alts. corresponding to each certain element.
1. Default - basic magic
2. Red - Fire
3. Blue - Water and Ice
4. Time Pink - Time manipulation
5. Green - Wind and Lightning
6. Dark Purple - Shadow
7. Twilight Purple - Twilight
8. White - Light
- Some other magical abilities that Zelda can obtain as the game progresses; flight, motion, gentleness, endurance, etc. These will help Zelda get around the maps easier
- PHOTO MODE! Have Zelda don various dresses, including those her other incarnations have worn in the past. Facial and body gestures, and taking in the surrounding landscape.
- Dungeons within the levels; bosses from past games and new intimidating monsters from the ground-up.
- Pray to God no Ganon(dorf) involved…
- AND… no Link. Sorry, but the princess can fend for herself this time.
I'd say Zelda mostly using a bow was established in the cartoon which I do think Gamelon took some inspiration from. I do on the other hand think that Zelda should have a smaller lightr sword in the new game in addition to her magic cause that's not new to her either (see Twilight Princess). I tink Aonuma doesn't want her overlapping with Link's skill-set at all (aside from maybe the bow), but that's a bit irksome. Still new game looks fun.
yes i also agree that i hope in echoes she has some kind of other weapon outside of the rod.
While I did believe a top down Zelda had a good chance of happening, I didn't anticipate Zelda starring in a main role. As thats usually for the spin offs. And if Zelda did have playability it would be alongside Link which could still be an amazing Zelda game if done right to the fullest extent.
It’s so nice to see her in the staring role
Correct me if im wrong, but I remember playing windwaker when it released and kinda playing as Zelda during the final Ganon fight. Or did she just fight with link and the player has no control over her? I don't remember, maybe so, because windwaker wasn't mentioned in this list
she just fights along side you.

@@zane1790 can you play as Zelda in the spin off? Yes. So it counts as the video is about times you can play as her ☺️
I called all of these. I also thought Nintendo ought to be ashamed that the only "main line" Zelda where Zelda actually had the staring role for so long was in the CGI games.
Haha they tried to forget about them
Ah, I just want to clarify that Age if Calamity exists in its own timeline or universe and isn't actually depicting anything that actually happened before Breath of the Wild.
We know that the events are different from the start of the game because Link doesn't have the Master Sword. In Breath of the Wild, Link got the sword before he was acquainted with Zelda because she wrote in her diary about Link telling her how he became very silent after shouldering the weight of the role of the Hero with the Sword. She even mentions him with the sword in her diary when he was assigned as her guard and she held a lot of negative feelings about him because of her own failure to live up to her destiny.
In Age of Calamity, Link does not have the sword from the beginning nor when he becomes Zelda's knight. This changes their relationship greatly and the fact that she feels like a failure next to him is only hinted at later when he does get the sword.
We also know the events are different from Mipha and Revali's DLC memories. Mipha asks Zelda who the "other champions" are and Zelda lists everyone including Link with the "Sword that Seals the Darkness" meaning that she joined the group after Link. Revali makes a snarky comment about how he'll be better than Link when Zelda recruits him which shows that he also joined after Link. (Zelda wasn't assigned a knight yet when she met Daruk so he joined before Link).
In AoC, Revali makes a comment about Link and how he shouldn't be with everyone since he's not even a champion which is in complete contrast to their dynamic in BotW where he thinks Link is full of himself as the Hero with the Sword.
So AoC does not show the events before BotW and the character relationships are different due to the circumstances of these changes.
I know I’d doesn’t show the events exactly but we can still get more of an idea for what happened in canon. Obviously some things like with the champions are not canon but a lot of early game story stuff still works to show how things happening very well
Personally, I don't fully mind, since it make sense to have the possibility to have Link get a power up through the game (by gaining the Master Sword) can make sense.
And, it shows still more of the personality of the Champions, which, I think is part of what most fans loved the most.
@@SuperZeldaGirl it is a fun game and I enjoyed its own story in its own way, but I don't think it should overshadow the events that did happen in BotW and the different relationships and circumstances. It's a good game but not a prequel in any sense. More like an alternate universe.
Hyrule Warriors and Super Smash Bros don't count! 😂 They are super fun though!
@@pixywings the point of the video is to show off times you can play as Zelda, the game being a spin off or not doesn’t change if you can actually play as her so they are included

No combat because zelda.
Terrible LA artstyle.

I dont want to play as zelda..
oh my freaking god… QUIT complaining already! y’all didn’t even complained about the art style when Link’s Awakening happened! plus the game isn’t even out yet, there could still be combats in the game, don’t judge it until you try it
@@flytothemountains824 Firstly, many people dislike the LA remake artstyle, myself included.
I dislike the LoD out of focus crap more than anything. The framerate is terrible in that game too because of it, so expect the same in this game.
Secondly I am not new to the world, I know how games are marketed and can correctly judge a games quality from seeing only small amounts gameplay. Its deduction.
This game is gonna be tedious with the menu and wont have combat as you would have seen in the trailer, it will have you using copied enemies to fight for you.
@@flytothemountains824 Saying that though I expect you will get a copy of link, like a dark link at some point and may use that in combat, being able to control it. They already have links moves in the trailer and are reusing the assets so would be a waste of space having them in game but not allowing the player to use the assets.
@@Stinkyremy newsflash bro, not everything you see in game trailers would be 100% accurately shown for their games.
for example, there were parts in the Tears of the Kingdom trailers that have never made it into the actual game. like when Zelda and Link were riding on this one elephant creature, as well as when Zelda fell not using the tear
@@flytothemountains824 That is called a proof of concept...its not a trailer.
Now nintendo has changed their marketing and announce and soon release games.
Everything in that trailer will be in the game, it is out in just over 3 months...
They are not rewriting the game in that time and changing aspects of it, it will be in beta now, bug test phase.
Simple fact is the combat of this game is going to be mainly based on getting minions to fight for you.
Id really love to see another crossover game like Hyrule Warriors that leans into her mystic abilities like that game did.
I think the Warriors franchise is a little too grindy for my tastes. So something more like an RPG or an exploration fighting game could be really interesting.
Something like Kingdom Hearts, for instance.
