    This subject is the most important there is in our contemporary world. It's just a shame when private investors try to muscle in on important finds like this and shut all doors on the public gaze. This is the heritage of every human being alive today and not the property of money handlers with vested interests. Watch Randall Carlson's podcast, Kosmographia, for dozens of hours of discussion on the pre-iceage world and its human activities. It's ludicrous to still be holding onto the notion that 12,000 years ago we were all hairy bumbling idiots making a living off the land and living in caves. That paradigm is becoming more and more incompatible with the rising waters of evidence and it's almost at the point at which the current paradigm just cannot dam the pressure building behind it anymore. Of course there was relevant human activity during the stone-age and iron-age when the academics believe there was, but there was clearly a lot more going on elsewhere at the same time and long before then.
    Gunung Padang is just one of many incredible sites worldwide and clearly shows that human beings have been very busy and very innovative for a very long time; much longer than academics have estimated and peddled to the public so far. I just don't understand why there's so much resistance to new and non-outlandish concepts such as a lost pre-iceage civilisation. The first argument is always; "well there couldn't have been a lost civilisation because we don't find cars, buildings or any other advanced technology anywhere from that time." That is a loaded argument and is based on the supposition that "advanced" means the modern conception of vehicles and electricity. Surely advanced technology for such "primitive" people would be something as humble as fishing with a line and hook, or using modified bones as sewing needles. There's evidence now that someone was creating jade jewellery and using powered drilling technology to drill holes more than 35,000 years ago. Jade jewellery is hard enough to work on but achieving drilling technology that far back when we were meant to be feckless apes is incredible. There's obviously a large part of our history that we either got wrong or don't know about. Frankly, it's parsimonious to assume that academics have got it wrong because they simply didn't have all of the evidence or knowledge beforehand. But then why don't new discoveries lead to a progression or development of the picture already in place. It's surely the very obligation and definition of progress to embrace new evidence as it comes in and to incorporate it into the current paradigm or allow for it to lead to an entirely new paradigm. How can we progress as human beings if we don't even know where we came from. How can we truly progress when the picture of our past has been painted for us using the few facts we thought we knew at the earliest stages of the studies of our origins. It is incompetent to insist that we know it all from the very first few studies when new evidence is emerging all the time. No police detective would be satisfied with the initial, most simple theory first proposed when new evidence is coming to light unless they were trying to cover up a deeper truth or simply just a bad and lazy detective. We all have an equal right to the truth of the human story and to be a part of the discussion. Sadly, these days politics and private vested interests have completely muddied the water so that we are being deprived an accurate and clear picture. What a great pantomime it is to live in the modern world. We're all better off asking our own questions and researching subjects thoroughly because the people who make the big decisions tend not to be free-thinkers and often have layers of intent rolled in with what they say and do. However, those who turn 180 degrees in an attempt to think freely and see the so-far unexplained evidence as proof that aliens were involved have taken a similar route and made presumptions based on fanciful ideas with questionable evidence. Academics respond by digging their heels in deeper and alien enthusiasts respond to that by swinging their ideas even further out. The truth is buried somewhere in the middle of these extremities; which is the reality with most things.

      Right it doesn't have to be aliens, although it wouldn't be ancient "Indonesians" either since we are talking pre-ice age and the people that currently occupy that area were pre-dated by a much more ancient people of a very different origin. That is most likely why the dig was ordered to stop. Same thing has happened in Egypt once DNA samples from mummies began showing they were not the same people that currently occupy Egypt, and same goes for China and Japan as well.

    SMH, the ice age ENDED ~11,700 years ago. 20,000 year old date would mean that it was constructed during the last ice age, specifically around the last glacial maximum. Also, I don't think that it changed *everything* this could just be a local development and keep in mind that the total layers have a time gap of ~13,000 years from 20,000 years ago to 7,000 years ago. It is entirely plausible for it to have been made a renovated over a period of 13,000 years.

    • @76rjackson
      @76rjackson Před 5 lety +2

      It's unfortunate how many people fail to distinguish cultural evolution from biological evolution and then cite setbacks in the former as proof that the latter isn't true. This site would actually support the idea that the people who were around during the ice age were more culturally advanced than academia gives them credit for. And, again, if true, it supports Gobeckli Tepe and vice versa. We know what modern humans can achieve when their culture undergoes a paradigm shift from knowledge based on myth and legends to knowledge creation using the scientific method. We went for hunter gatherers to a techo society in 10,000 years. The mainstream does not want to acknowledge that , what with modern humans being extant for almost 200 millennia, there has been more than ample time for people exactly like us to create an advanced culture. And social history is full of examples of societies that progress forward and fall back when a flood or plague or war ravages their people. Just think of a nuclear war! But we know damn well that the world seems deceptively safe but there are big rocks lurking in the sky that, if a big enough one hit us, we would be back to hunting and gathering. and there is evidence that that is exactly what happened at the end of the ice age, about 12,000 years ago, coniciding in a puzzling manner with the erection of the structures at Gobeckli Tepe. Coincidence? Not bloody likely. Not when it seems like plant and animal domestication and other sophisticated cultural achievements all seem to emerge at the same time from the same place. Somebody appears to have made preparations for the disaster that ended the ice age and flooded the world. When the mud dried up they came out of their safe houses and rebooted civilization.

How can it be advanced technology when it's 10,000 years old? :-) we don't look at a cell phone and say oh, oh this is advanced technology. A cell phone is just a cell phone it is current technology for our time, just like their technology was current to their time. I find it amazing how we of this time thank people of the past we're dumber than we are. We want to save whales and other species but yet we kill her own children and just look at Joe exotic. He sits in jail for killing tigers that he bred. Those Tigers were his , he can do with him what he wants to but on the other hand people get 5 years or less sometimes for murdering a human.
