  • Ya'll have been waiting for this one :D In this video I go into depth on my extensive experience with both the iPad Pro 11" and the iPad Pro 12.9" (that I recently picked up) in the realm of college and personal work. I firstly go over portability/footprint aspects, then conduct a speaker quality test, talk battery life and then go in depth comparing many of the iPad Pro apps we love side by side in order to give you an idea as to what to expect from each form factor. I then get into why you should go bigger or smaller in regard to price and screen real estate.

Honestly, just get a mini for those times the 12.9 is too big. I originally had the 11 and while it was great, there were way to many times it was either too big or too small. Since most of the time I thought it was too small I decided to get a 12.9 to try out for a few weeks and just decided to keep it. I then sold my 11 for enough to justify getting a mini as well. Its definitely an extremely luxury to have 2 ipads, but its so awesome to always have the right tool for the job.

I would say the 12.9” is best if you are mainly working with the device supported on a desk or table. The 11” if using mainly as tablet in the hand. If cost is major consideration, just go for the regular iPad which are also capable devices, now with keyboard and pencil support. I have the 12.9” iPad Pro 2018 and love it - my favourite device ever!

  • @sandrar.2662
    @sandrar.2662 Před 3 lety +5

Guys, if you are just regular users and do not need to use any specific app, just for college and watching series, ear me out:
I've had the iPad Pro 11" for over a year and a half now, and it is very comfortable to carry arround. On a daily basis I read manga with it, watch anime, or youtube videos and taking notes.
Now, that said... The *ONLY THING* I miss about this iPad is the extra space while using multitasking.
I do all my notes with it, and rarely use any paper, so when I am writing on the split screen in one side and I'm looking for information at the same time on safari, it gets super uncomfortable because I'm forced to zoom in and out to write all the time. You don't have full view of the stuff you are writing and it slows you down soooooo much.
So, in my opinion you should pick 12.9" for school work (if you want to use split screen), you may have to sacrifice portability but I think it's worth.
You also have the option of going to a shop and compare sizes before ordering one.

I disagree... I think both 11" and 12,9" iPads serve very different usage, and that an "in between" model would only bring the cons of both iPads along, not the perks. 👍
      - Smaller one keeps all the specs of the big guy but brings it all into a much more portable device.
      - The 12,9" though tosses portability to enhance the usage experience, and makes for a beautiful display and gorgeous media consumption ✨
I think you just gotta pick one, and decide whether you want a smaller form factor to enjoy it on the go, or a bigger one to enjoy using it as a whole ♥️✍️ What do you think?

Great video Noah! I own the 12.9 inch iPad Pro. If you plan to walk around your house using your iPad and you primarily use it for reading books or magazines, surfing the web, media content and CZcams on the couch / social media then i’d suggest you get the newest iPad Mini 5 or iPad Air and save some money. The new iPad Mini has the older design but its internals are future proof and its super lightweight and portable. It’s all you need with the 11 inch Pro being massive overkill for those listed tasks. For students taking handwritten notes, or using a keyboard case and multitasking you should definitely get the 12.9 if you can afford it. The extra screen space is an absolute luxury for productivity. The size difference is NOT that big a deal if you carry it in a school bag, its unnoticeable in a backpack. The difference in weight is 300 grams. People on here saying.. “If only they made a 12 inch iPad”. Trust me, you will get used to the extra .9 of an inch, if you owned the 12.9 inch you’d probably laugh at that comment in a month.

Indeed the audio is more mature on the 12.9, and the audio on 11 inch is really different in the highs (less pleasant / natural).

Been waiting for this video! I have the 12.9” iPad pro and i LOVE it. I originally picked up the 11” a few weeks ago to try it out, and i really fell in love with the iPad pro and its my main device now so I really wanted that extra screen real-estate, so i ended up exchanging my 11” for the 12.9 256gb space grey and im super happy i did! Its still ultra portable and i take it everywhere. The bigger size feels slightly less like a toy to me if that makes since. Theres so much power in these iPads i figured i want to utilize it as much as possible. Gaming is still awesome especially when i connect my ps4 controller, and Fortnite now supports 120fps 😬🔥 I have the iPhone 11 pro max so my logic was, my phone is my smaller touch interface device and my iPad pro 12.9” is my big one. 💯

I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS VIDEO!!!!!! I’m a “multipotentialite”-type person who does, well…everything. Writing, art, video, audio, but want portability. And this is the only video that really dug deep into researching which I’d do w some writing and using obsidian or scrivener. I really want the 11 for sticking in a non-backpack size and I’m used to sketching in an A4 or B5 notebook, but someone mentioned in the comments on printing accuracy on letter paper and I didn’t even think about that. So I’m off to the store to do some hands on with the “hand hanging off screen” and reference mode. THANK YOU!!!!

12.9 is still super portable (thin and light). The previous generations were too big IMO, but the reduced bezels made the 12.9 the perfect size. You get significantly more screen real estate and a better split screen and multi tasking experience.

It's like the 12.9 would be perfect for all my school purposes but the 11 would be perfect for all my entertainment purposes urgh. Doesnt help the 12.9 is substantially more expensive. Also how tf does apple sell a 12.9 ipad pro with only 64 GB of storage at the base model? That's egregious for a thousand dollar product. 128 should be the starting point.

This was THE best comparison video I've seen. I'm a grad student and want one for note taking but I also need it to function as a computer because I don't want to carry both on campus. I kept watching videos so I could decide which one I should get and EVERY SINGLE STUDENT has the 11 inch but I kept feeling like it would be too small and cramped for me. I also worried that the 12.9 would be too big especially seeing that everyone does just fine with the 11. If I can write on the 12.9 with no problems and not have to zoom in and out all of the time, it's worth it. Thank you so much for this video, seriously. :)

video editing with those on a desk is cool, but if you wanna edit video in bed the size of the iPad Mini is much more beneficial than the preview size of the video in Lumafusion in my humble opinion. Ya’ll want an iPad Mini Pro?! Upvote this! A lighter, but stronger (it’s already very durable, but let’s make it tougher) bezel-less iPad Mini that keeps that same screen size with a smaller footprint due to removal of top and bottom bezels would be lit. The perimeter could retain the size of the current side bezels just so it’s still thick enough to where the thumb typing experience is still comfortable :)
