    So interesting seeing Dan Marino actually winning the final game. To think this would be the last time of Dan Marino’s football career that his season didn’t end in disappointment. That’s wild when you think about him only being 20 years old here.

    Two great programs during their top level early 80's years, each with a once in a generation superstar, surrounded by future pro's, in a packed Sugar Bowl with the great Keith Jackson calling the game. Only fitting that it was a great ball game that went right to the wire.

      @@fivehundrediq5212 Avoiding? Really? Or avoided? Either way great teams can and do have to face a variety of teams. Some ranked some not ranked, and some just so awful is sad to watch. However GREAT teams DON'T EVER make EXCUSES! They go out and play. If they happen to lose a game or sometimes even two, they battle back. The 70's and 80's had some iconic players coming into college. The ACC was packed FULL of extremely talented and some extraordinary players/students/etc. Other conferences also had some powerful teams. USC, UCLA, the Big Ten, Notre Dame, Florida State Seminoles, and some others which were just as lethal. NCAA Football was always great, but the 70's, 80's, and 90's brought to light some insanely talented players and DAMN IT WAS FUN TO BE A FAN!

    Weird story, but I remember I happened to be sitting next to one of the Panthers at an airport a day or two after this game. Can't recall who, but I recall him telling me that he was having trouble on the Superdome turf while wearing turf shoes in the 1st half, that they gripped too good, scaring him that his foot would get stuck. He switched to Adidas Pro Model basketball shoes, and they worked great. A lot of the Pitt players are wearing basketball sneakers here.

    • @johnliberty3647
      @johnliberty3647 Před 3 lety +1

      Danny White was between 2 consecutive pro bowls at the time of this game. I felt bad for the guy because he inherited a declining Cowboys team when becoming the starter, played great but because he kept making it to the NFC Championship. and not winning the Super Bowl for 3 straight seasons people were very hard on him. Expectations were way too high when he was likely the best QB in the league in that 3 year span if not then 2nd to Fouts. and no one won more games in that span than White. Jeffcoat was the wise draft pick considering Martin and Too Tall were in their mid 30's. Teams that Marino should have been drafted by in my Opinion, Colts, Bills, Steelers, Oilers, Browns, Packers, Lions, Buccaneers, Saints, And the Rams. All those teams had questions at QB. and Marino dropped to #27. and the Dolphins who needed him the most. got him. Maybe the Buccaneers needed him even more because Williams was not resigned.

      @@johnliberty3647 John Elway is the consensus #1 pick in this draft and despite his saying he wouldn’t play in Baltimore Colts GM Ernie Accossi was confident they could sign him after They drafted him. He never got the chance as Colts owner Robert Irsay instigated the Elway trade to Denver and as a result Accossi quit as GM and warned the NFL front office that Irsay was going to be a major headache.(which he was. He is definitely one of the worst owners in sports history)

      @paulsonj72 Před rokem

      In the regular season finale Pitt not only lost but was absolutely blown out by Penn St. 48-14 and that was after having a 14-0 lead in the game. Georgia had lost in week 3 to Clemson and had time to move back up in the polls. After Georgia lost to Clemson they also took a dive in the polls dropping from #4 to #17. They would finish 6-0-0 in the SEC(SEC only played 6 league games at the time)

    As a young boy growing up in the 70's I wasn't big into College Sports. My teams were Wisconsin teams. The Green Bay Packers(NFL), the Milwaukee Brewers(MLB), the Milwaukee Bucks(NBA), & for Hockey the Milwaukee Admirals(IHL). We didn't have a NHL team and that always bummed me out. So for College 🏈🏉football🏉🏈, it was the Wisconsin Badgers. College 🏀Basketball🏀 was again the Wisconsin Badgers, but also the Marquette Warriors, now sadly called the Golden Eagles. Also a few years back the UWGB(Green Bay) Phoenix was also a very good team. Bennett was the head coach. However the 70's was my favorite times for being a KID, NOT a sports fan. My attention span was so short, sitting for 2½-4 hours to watch a game was, well it wasn't easy. Besides the Badgers & the Packers weren't exactly really good teams back in the 70's. The later part of the 70's, say 1977-79 my Dad & Grandpa took me to Packers game at Milwaukee County🏟Stadium.🏟 The Packers played the Lions, we lost, but I was unable to move. That game had me memorized. The following year I started playing Little League and we started going to Brewer's games. Those memories are some of the very best times of my life. Once the 80's began I became more and more and more of a football, baseball, basketball, and hockey fan. So having the opportunity to see these classic games as they were broadcasted back then is awesome! So many great players, teams, games, playoffs, Championships, and other games are possibly here to watch. For that I say THANK YOU AGAIN! AND KEEP THEM COMING!
