"RollerCoaster Tycoon is a construction and management simulation video game centered around amusement park management. Developed by MicroProse and Chris Sawyer and published by Hasbro Interactive, the game was released for Microsoft Windows on March 31, 1999 and was later ported to the Xbox game console. It is the first game in the RollerCoaster Tycoon series and is followed by two additional PC installments and a Nintendo 3DS title. A mobile title and a fourth PC installment will be released in 2014.
RollerCoaster Tycoon has received two expansion packs: Corkscrew Follies in 1999, and Loopy Landscapes in 2000. Two special editions were released: RollerCoaster Tycoon Gold in 2002, which contained the original game, Corkscrew Follies, and Loopy Landscapes; and RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe in 2003, which contained the content in Gold plus more designs for the different customizable rollercoasters."

I remember spending 10-20 hours on the sequel, RCT2. It was so fun! RCT3 was even better because RCT2 was blood-boiling hard at the time (I was like 8 or 9)
I noticed after this video how RCT1 and RCT2 are very similar in terms of graphics and gameplay, but RCT3 revamps everything.
Another tip: The RollerCoasters BY FAR make the best income. Build all of the rollercoasters first until you max out your loan, people will flock to your park.
Another tip: Fire all of your workers at the end of the month (you can see what day it is), and then re-hire all of them at the beginning so you never have to pay wages. EVER.
Another tip: Don't put "No Entry" signs at the end of your park. Even though it traps all of the guests in, it makes your ratings go down until 0.
I remember playing this game, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 when I was a kid. I haven't played this game in quite a long time, so it's nice to see videos of it here on CZcams.
Pro trick: you can watch series at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies lately.

for a game that was made in 1999 the game looks amazing considered how other games looked in 1999. this brings soo many good memories of my early days of gaming, i played all rollercoaster tycoon games and zoo tycoon. it was amazing

I just have to say Thank you. I looked everywhere for some kind of tutorial. I was having issues since I never played this game as a child except at my cousins house when I was very small. I consider myself a master gamer but for some reason this game was giving me difficulty on the learning curve. I plan on really getting into this game, I hear this is the best Rollercoaster Tycoon game of the bunch. Thanks again for a fantastic tutorial and the help has been greatly appreciated.

For my big money-maker roller coasters, I have long queues but assign an Entertainer to walkthrough the line and keep people happy

I still have this game, RCT Deluxe, RCT2, and RCT3. I played this on my Windows 98 for hours on end and it's so much fun. I'm psyched for "Roller Coaster Tycoon World" this year. :D

Cedar Point is the only real amusement park I've ever been to. But I've heard Six Flags is good too.

The reason your not getting much money from gentle rides is because how short you made the lines! If the line's full the peeps just go to another ride!

Google OpenRCT2, it's an open-source clone which is 100% compatible with RCT2 and was made by reverse engineering te original game (so the game logic is the same)
i have the original version on the cd and it works good with windows 10 rct1 is compatible with al the windows.
I miss this game. I prefer the sequel cause it has SIX FLAGS!

NO HACKS OR CHEATS WORK on Original Version!
All Challenges are Done and I am on the Mega Park. 15 Park Years to Completely Level , Deforest and Fill in the Lake.
I Saved (prebuilt) Coasters, Water Slides and Go-Karts Tracks from each Challenge to use in the Mega Park, as well as Coasters with High ratings that I have Built. I have Closed the Park Many times and started over from scratch, all because I get board with the same stuff over and over. Even Building New Coasters.
I end up going back and doing the Challenges over again and try different layouts or just expanding on ones already done.
I really need to get RTC2 and maybe RTC3 where you actually get to Ride the Coasters, whereas in 1 and 2 you don't. :( (you can in the rip off game for home use called "Theme Park" but the graphics Suck and so does the Lack of Rides along with that Annoying Little Announcer. You can even play the carnival games and set/ negotiate employee wages).
