    I have NEVER FELT THIS MUCH disappointment at a series ending. So much potential & we were again cheated. It seemed unlikely they could have a happy ever after, but after all that death & killing, but to end with so many plot holes & giving Villanelle such a short amount of time w/Eve was simply super cruel.

      Someone said they might be trying to set up for a Carolyn spin-off and that's the only possible reason I can see behind this ending, because as you say, it left so many loose ends. [spoilers] who shot them? why did Carolyn order them to be shot? presumably she knew about the location change, but how? who is she really working for? What's Pam going to do? If it was just a season ending then sure, but it's (supposedly) the last ever season of this show so WHY would you leave it like that, even the 'Konstantin's daughter joining the 12' storyline was introduced never to be brought up again. I'm not going to attack the writer for killing off V because I watched an interview where they _somewhat_ justified that, but like every series since the first it felt disingenuous. Where was the classic killing eve humour in this? V's outlandish outfits? The music? Not _the worst_ season imo, but disappointing nonetheless.

      Completely agree, the final season was a disappointment and the final episode a disaster as reflected by the 2.8 rating on IMDB in stark contrast to the consistent 8+ in seasons 1-3 even season 4 was getting 6-7 ratings , how could they ruin it in such an unsatisfactory way.

    Laura Neal: Villanelle’s journey throughout the series is about her trying to change herself for the better
    Jodie Comer: I don’t think Villanelle wants to be a good person…
    The fact that Laura Neal just doesn’t understand this character at all and she got to write her ending is so upsetting … you really can see that Jodie played Villanelle as truly to the character as she could; given she had an absolutely shitty script to work with.

      Can't agree more, Jodie acting was amazing like always but the script on season 4 was a mess, some nice scenes here and there but overall all the story was confusing the main characters destroyed, story unfinished, many things started and nothing concluded and introduction of completely useless and boring characters like Eve's new "boyfriend"🤦, what is this man doing in this series I still haven't understood yet. How much time wasted uselessly throughout the season with boooooring and absolutely forgettable characters.

    Villanelle felt like a bright light, dimmed and reduced to nothing. Her clothing, the humour in her dialogue, and then the finale. There was this power she had in the first two seasons, something feminine, something scary, but it disappeared after season two. Laura Neal's season 4 paled in comparison to its predecessors, Killing Eve was phenomenal because it did something different. It was never what i expected it to be, and Laura Neal absolutely disappointed. That finale was the most cliche spy ending ever, and so many character introductions, so much pointless subplot for absolutely nothing. No payoff whatsoever. It felt like she was running us in circles trying buy herself time before Villaneve reunited. Three seasons of mystery and buildup for the end of the twelve to be reduced to a- what- four minute slow-mo fight scene? Eve and Villanelle crashed the boat with not even a semblance of a plan and neither any weapons. The worst? Villanelle died in a grey tank top. We deserved better.

    • @return_ofsaturn6474
      @return_ofsaturn6474 Před rokem +17

      @Haley_93 I've edited my previous comment. Laura did not do any research whatsoever. Villanelle had hallucinations of herself as drag jesus, its like Neal was making fun of us. Because Villanelle is a psychopath, yes, but she isn't that kind of crazy. She's a trained assassin, and for the larger bit- unfeeling. Tell me why she was such a mess in the fourth season. It's like Villanelle, herself didn't know what she was doing at all or why. Everywhere I look, Laura failed. She was an amateur playwright brought on to finish the show, probably kill it.

    I believe that maybe Laura tried to do what she felt was right but after hearing her say that Villanelle's death is like a "rebirth" and "freedom" for Eve, it made me realise that she just seemed to completely misunderstand them. She suggested that Villanelle needed to die because of all the bad she'd done, but completely ignored how much she'd developed and changed. Villanelle had discovered that maybe her past had made her the way she was and she was trying to become better for Eve, did that mean nothing? Eve on the other hand, had become probably the darkest version of herself but she's allowed to live on and start again? Doesn't make sense to me.

    I’ve got to be honest the whole of the 4th season is just a monstrosity. It’s like they completely scrapped everything that has happened leading up to this season and just decided to do what they want. The way season 3 ended villanelle was mature, rational and really grown as a person. But then the way they started season 4 it was like she had gone back to season one, if not worse, she was almost like a toddler incapable of being away from Eve. All that maturity was completely gone and we got no explanation why, we have no idea what has happened between season 3 ending and season 4 starting and are left utterly clueless because they are almost entirely different characters. Then all of a sudden villanelle decided she didn’t want Eve anymore, even though the whole of this season she had been pining for her and now Eve wants her she’s just become mature again for no reason. Then in the last episode we finally start getting back to how the characters were behaving towards the end of season 3, but then they go and kill villanelle for absolutely no reason. There was no need to kill her and even if they did really feel that was the way they wanted to end it they should have at least killed Eve as well. Because villanelle was no longer a threat to anyone and any threat she was, Eve was just as much so. You could argue that it was to resolve past issues but they had a multitude of opportunities to kill her in the past and they never did so why now, it just doesn’t make sense. The 4th season from beginning to end was just an utter shambles and even the actors knew it, you can see in the interviews that Jodie wasn’t happy with the end but she isn’t able to say anything about it because she has to support the show.

    • @PJuls
      @PJuls Před rokem +3

      I so agree with what you say about V showing an evolution for Eve’s sake at the end of S3 only to crush it all in S4… I also think that all that drag-Jesus story was nonsense, did they want to show V having hallucinations or what? I still don’t get it 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @Hannah-jr4lz
      @Hannah-jr4lz Před 9 měsíci +1

      Adding to this if they really felt there was to much baggage with the character of Villanelle that they had to kill her then eve should have been killed as well as she knew just as much if not more information of the 12 and their past as well as Carolyn’s play in the whole unraveling of the end. It was poorly written and left with so many holes. Also so many new characters were Introduced to further the show to absolutely no where, and leave more open ends. The last season was an extreme let down to such a good series with so much more potential.

    Its not even the ending of the show that sucked it was the whole season, I swear Villanelle and Eve were in hardly any scenes together, we only got good stuff in the last episode and then she died. The season was just Eve getting with everyone she could except villanelle, bringing a random girl into it that ended up killing one of the best characters?!, the twelve randomly dying so easily when I thought they were so powerful, and why did they have to bring religion into it, i feel like Villanelle lost all of her power, baddass and strength from her character. And common why was it just a random person who we don't even know that killed villanelle, like why wasn't it Carolyn herself or a big plot twist or maybe no death at all. The season was just a whole lot of nothing and now im gonna go cry again and re watch my favourite and good moments of them.
