I remember his 1st year in Seattle. At the start of the season his autographed baseballs were selling for $35 at the Mariners team store. At the end of the season they were $300, if you could find one.
Before Ichiro had even played an MLB game I can remember one analyst ( wish I could remember who it was ) saying he thought MLB pitchers would literally knock the bat out of his hands because he wasn't strong enough.
Allen Thomas are you really that stupid? He will go down as one of the all-around best baseball players in the history of the sport. If you know you anything about baseball then you should know that.
He was cheered even when his name was called in the lineup in the opposing team's ballpark. He never had any shady rumors/stories, so he was respected by everybody as a damn great player. I'm glad I was able to watch him and Jeter in the same team in person.
Everyone forgets the best Ichiro moment. WBC 2009 final Japan vs S.Korea. Top of the 10th, drives in two runs to give Japan the lead and finish it. I doubt there was a better moment for him considering how big the rivalry between them two is and being in the final.
I don't think most casual baseball fans understand what a game-changing player Ichiro was. He was not great. He was so much more than that. It's hard to define.
TripleJPlay11 those shouldn’t count. Still like to think he’d be somewhere around 4,000 hits but is still a whole different ball game between Japan and MLB
TripleJPlay11 minor league is pro ball too so might as well count that also right? There’s a reason a lot of has been guys go play in Korea or Japan when they’re on their decline
Hearing Dave Niehaus's voice accompany Ichiro's accomplishments brings back a lot of emotions and fond memories. We will never forget him in Seattle. "It was something out of Star Wars out there!"
Misleading title I don’t see any of his spectacular defensive plays. I would put his walkoff home run of Mariano on this list that just doesn’t happen. Players like Ortiz and Cabrera have done it ichiro is in that group of superstars.
He once said the reason why he didn't smile in games even when he did something great. He just didn't want opponents to think that he was happy about such small things like timely hits and sliding catches.
Ichiro is right there w/ Cobb, Rose & Gwynn in the conversation for absolute best contact hitter to ever lace up a pair of spikes. He was so good it was almost....unnatural. And he did everything clean, with the utmost grace & humility
What Reymar thinks: "people will think I'm smart because I corrected him on Japanese" What we really think: "what an idiot, he didn't understand he was talking about 5-1, not 51"
Ichiro Suzuki, vino de otro Planeta, que maravilla de pelotero, su dedicación, determinación y disciplina y seriedad lo convierten en un ejemplo para los jóvenes del mundo, grande por siempre.
He is truly the greatest pure hitter the game has ever seen..if he would have started at 20 there is no reason he could've ended up with over 5000 hits..konichiwa
it was an absolute pleasure to watch this man play every single night growing up watching the mariners. looking back i didnt know how good i had it. i got to see this man magic every single night.
1: 258th hit 2: the game-winning double of WBC 2009 Final 3: 3000th hit 4: The Throw 5: 4257th hit 6: 4000th hit 7: 200th hit of 2010 season 8: His final match at Tokyo Dome 9: Inside-the-park home run in the all-star game 10: the infield hit from Randy Johnson in his first all-star game Opinion of one Japanese
EthansTv. Wait, apparently you missed his comment, it said if he was going to build a dream team, like Pete Rose, nope cant get him, he's like 70, Nolan Ryan, no, he is 70 as well, Mickey Mantle, nope, he is dead...its a dream team, hence the word dream
A fitting tribute to one of the all-time greats. A more humble and talented ambassador of the game never existed. And this excellent video does Ichiro proud.
The first time I saw Ichiro was on TV as a new player in Seattle for the Mariners in his first game. I wasn't a big baseball fan, but I'd seen enough to know greatness when I saw it. In my mind Ichiro is the best overall baseball player in history and he has the records to prove it.
Glad to live during Ichi's playing years 20 years from now I will tell kids I saw a ninja playing for Mariners, he batted like a samurai and run like wind
Can't quibble too much about the plays listed, but there are issues with the order. His three biggest offensive accomplishments are: the total number of hits in Japan and the US; having over 200 hits in 10 consecutive MLB seasons; and setting the MLB record for hits in one season.
This seems like a part one thing. Ichiro's fielding was really dang good too, and deserves plenty of mention. The guy was just good or better at everything.
As far as contact hitters go, records aside, Ichiro was the 2nd best contact hitter behind Rose. Growing up though, he was my favorite. Him and Griffey are the reason I taught myself to bat left handed
Top 11? Just saw Ichiro with the Marlins hit a first pitch homer against Seattle in what may be his last appearance at Safeco Field. The fans applauded!
They left off my favorite Ichiro moment. His throw nailing Long at third base a week into his MLB career. That was an announcement to all of baseball. You don't run on Ichiro.
How about when he pitched as a reliever for the Mariners? It obviously wasn't the best showing by a pitcher by any means, but it definitely is one of his best moments.
This is not the top 10 Ichiro moments, it's 10 milestones in his MLB career.
Agreed. So many better video compilations out there
yeah, nice vid but a bit misleading in the title
Correct; great milestone moments, but individually, not especially great plays.
And that music: Phew, nasty.
Yeah, reading about them would be enough. No need for the boring video.
Agreed. Milestones vid. Bad music choice.
Ichiro is the person that got me into baseball. I remember as a young kid in Seattle, watching him go to the mound, not a single person was silent.
*Ichiro Suzuki will go down as one of the greatest MLB players ever. He is getting into the Hall.*
first ballot
no-doubter.
Agreed
Allen Thomas they don't count international hits in Cooperstown numb-nuts. That's not why he's getting in.
Allen Thomas are you really that stupid? He will go down as one of the all-around best baseball players in the history of the sport. If you know you anything about baseball then you should know that.
Greatest hitter I've ever seen. Hard to think of anyone in baseball history who combined hitting, running, and defensive prowess in one package.
Not even close to gwynn
Ricky
The amount of respect he received in literally every ballpark is incredible.
He was cheered even when his name was called in the lineup in the opposing team's ballpark. He never had any shady rumors/stories, so he was respected by everybody as a damn great player. I'm glad I was able to watch him and Jeter in the same team in person.
Yeah, except for fucking Oakland, where they hurled racist invectives and actually spit on him from the stands. What assholes.

The greatest hitter of his time.
He changed the mindsets of his opponents when he’s at play
ReklawLah elite
As a fun I don’t care what others think about him, he was just great and fun to watch
Imagine if he had started at 20 in MLB
Alan B he may have more hits
He did start that young in the Japanese league, they combined the stats
TripleJPlay11 those shouldn’t count. Still like to think he’d be somewhere around 4,000 hits but is still a whole different ball game between Japan and MLB
Kevin I know but it’s all Pro Baseball so why shouldn’t the stats combine
TripleJPlay11 minor league is pro ball too so might as well count that also right? There’s a reason a lot of has been guys go play in Korea or Japan when they’re on their decline
I think it’s just insane how he hit a single for #1000, a double for #2000, and a triple for #3000. #5Dchess
Hearing Dave Niehaus's voice accompany Ichiro's accomplishments brings back a lot of emotions and fond memories. We will never forget him in Seattle. "It was something out of Star Wars out there!"
"The throw" should be on this list
yea, thew something out of star wars lol
Jeff Riser I thought that would be on there too
Yeah, I'm surprised none of his laser throws made this Top 10 moments list.
Misleading title I don’t see any of his spectacular defensive plays.
I would put his walkoff home run of Mariano on this list that just doesn’t happen.
Players like Ortiz and Cabrera have done it ichiro is in that group of superstars.
I think that's most of our feelings, for sure. Whoever made this clip obviously is not a Mariners fan. All of us know about "The Throw".
自分が生きている時に、イチロー選手の活躍を見れた事がどれだけ幸運な事なのか。それが分かる動画でした!
And this is without mentioning all his great defensive work. Shows you how great he is.
People never really talk about how strong his arm was in the outfield. He had 10 Gold Gloves for more than just his range.

I am Japanese and I love Ichiro. Want to here why his number is 51?
51 in japanese is go ichi, which sounds like Go Ichiro!
51 is goju ichi not go ichi lmao
@@Waiin3 maybe he meant 5&1. Well on clip there's supporter that also write 5|1 as Go Ichi ro so might not wrong.
Same logic in the anime major wherein goro shigeno chose number 56 since its go and roku
What Reymar thinks: "people will think I'm smart because I corrected him on Japanese"
What we really think: "what an idiot, he didn't understand he was talking about 5-1, not 51"
Why 51? Because
Suzuki Ichiro ≒ 5uzuki 1chiro.
S.I ≒ 5.1
So 51.
I agree
I agree
考え方は人それぞれ違うが、それでも1位は年間安打数更新だと思うが。
te4413 ts 安打数更新も凄いけど、100年以上の歴史のあるメジャーで、オールスター史上唯一のランニングホームランやで
I love his humbleness, that was hard to be like that when u get the popularity and big name
Without a doubt the most overlooked and underrated superstars in all of MLB history.
it was an absolute pleasure to watch this man play every single night growing up watching the mariners. looking back i didnt know how good i had it. i got to see this man magic every single night.
Gaaaaay
I was at the game when he broke George Sissler’s record. Pretty amazing moment.
Ichiro is my hero for ever…
1: 258th hit
2: the game-winning double of WBC 2009 Final
3: 3000th hit
4: The Throw
5: 4257th hit
6: 4000th hit
7: 200th hit of 2010 season
8: His final match at Tokyo Dome
9: Inside-the-park home run in the all-star game
10: the infield hit from Randy Johnson in his first all-star game
Opinion of one Japanese
If I was to create a baseball dream team. Ichiro will be the first player to come to mind right away
Adrian Feliz ichiro is a great player no doubt but he older now sadly there are better people but no one is a better person then him
EthansTv.

If you build a dream team for baseball it starts with Ichiro imo.
A fitting tribute to one of the all-time greats. A more humble and talented ambassador of the game never existed. And this excellent video does Ichiro proud.
One of my favorite baseball players ever!
It was a privilege to see him in action many times at the Oakland Coliseum. Wonderful player.
The real definition of a Beast from the East.
In-between music was VERY annoying and louder than the plays. . .
Agreed and random start and stop times on that song? Doesn't make any sense and annoying.
sucks
I can't understand it.
Really odd. It's a very good Wilco song tho, if yr into Wilco.
@@alexpaxton1336 like the song a lot but kind of random.
Such a legend love you man
i love ichiro hes the reason why i watch MLB

I’m a Marlins fan, and it was a pleasure watching the end of his career in Miami.
This was amazing! And I appreciate it! And also it could have used some of his other-worldly defensive talents, too.
His homerun swing is so fun to watch, looks like he’s just like, well I guess I’ll go ahead and poke this one out.
Glad to live during Ichi's playing years
20 years from now I will tell kids I saw a ninja playing for Mariners, he batted like a samurai and run like wind
This man is a legend 💪 THE Mr miyagi of baseball
個人的にNo.1は10年連続200本安打達成だと思う。
通算ではなく、連続なのがもう凄過ぎる。
Ichiro, the greatest ever.
Top 10 hitting moments. He was an awesome fielder as well.
Ichiro back at it again by doing the impossible👍👏

agree - while “cool” an inside the park home run in an allstar game isn’t that big a deal.

the best ever..
One of the greats.
He is my best favorite of MLB players.
Looking back now, those games at safeco with my father watching Ichiro and king Felix, those were the days
Lo extrañaremos
Greatness.....
This video should've been called something like "Ichiro milestones at the plate" and the soundtrack between milestones is so questionable at best.
This legend is not talked enough.
Just goes about every milestone as a pro. See you in Cooperstown Ichiro.
He does it with such class
He'll be eligible for the Hall Of Fame in 2025. He's definitely going in his first year.

awesome
The consistency of 10 and plus years of so many records. Ichiro is in the HoF, HoF in Japan.
Welcome back to Seattle!
His numbers would be way up there if he started his career in MLB. He definitely broke all time hit record as well..
What? Not a single defensive gem among his top 10 moments? Ichiro is one of the greatest defensive players in history!!
This seems like a part one thing. Ichiro's fielding was really dang good too, and deserves plenty of mention.
The guy was just good or better at everything.
My number 1, is how classy of a guy he is. He's very friendly and approachable.
modern day Ty Cobb - best pure hitter of his generation. Hats off to ya big fella, great career.
Thank you Ichiro.
Throughout your career, we Japanese (and of course MLB fans) have dreamed of you.
It was like a daydream. And even now...

THE GREATEST ASIAN PLAYER EVER IN THE BASEBALL HISTORY
While Ichiro has been oustanding for many years and many ways, I feel there is a guy who can pitch and swing, will take over the throne :)
He is real legend
And he looks like he doesn't age either from the first hit to his 3000th. Congrats on an amazing career!
Love ichiro first ballot Hall of famer. Hopefully he chooses Seattle as his team
that's a real rarity anymore , a first ballot , no-doubt-about-it hall of famer.
改めて見ると伝説の人だな〜
He swings a bat like Lee Trevino swings a club and the results are just as amazing!
As far as contact hitters go, records aside, Ichiro was the 2nd best contact hitter behind Rose. Growing up though, he was my favorite. Him and Griffey are the reason I taught myself to bat left handed
He was far better than rose. Not even close.
I love how in #2 the first baseman shook Ichiro's hand. He knew what was up.
Top 11? Just saw Ichiro with the Marlins hit a first pitch homer against Seattle in what may be his last appearance at Safeco Field. The fans applauded!

Tesla, when I saw that throw my jaw hit the floor. It would be the first of many times Ichiro would make me react that way.
What a legend he is. Also, this video combined two of my favorite things, Wilco and baseball. Thanks to whoever got that clip of Theologians in there
I still tear up hearing Dave Niehaus....
Jesus that man was special. ❤👌👏
How about when he pitched as a reliever for the Mariners? It obviously wasn't the best showing by a pitcher by any means, but it definitely is one of his best moments.
