    Very much enjoy this one, we payed a premium to get it now vs waiting for next year. For me personally, I would have never learned the rules via the rulebook, thank the heavens for Nithrania's channel, he explains it flawlessly.

    Appreciate the honesty. You’re helping me filter out some of the new hype.

    So I’m one of those people that loves this game. I took the hit for my group, learning the rules, testing the game solo once and then teaching it. The other players didn’t feel overwhelmed (though I dropped some of the lingo from the teach). I find it tighter at 2 as you can potentially block a particular spot on the board if you decide to not cross the river. I aligned mostly with your taste on heavy games (Coffee Traders is my game of the year), but we seem to differ on medium games.
    In any case, well founded review. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas.

    When you forgot you had playback speed set to 1.75 times from another video (a very, veryyyy deliberate wreath making video). I though you guys were like super caffeinated or something 🤣 Happy Holidays BGR!

    Amazing review, very detailed, i think bitoku is a game designed for 4 players, the problem is that you need 4 players that actually know how to play the game correctly so that the game flow goes smoothly, with a huge and diverse collection like yours i think that is hard to keep this game but with a small collection is a good opportunity to have a solid game with good artwork/components and great price value, also a game with a lot to explore, for me this game is a 7 too.

      Thank you so much! Glad you are enjoying the game 🤩 And yeah, we don’t have time to get the same people with the same game for many, many times in a short time, sadly!

    I have been uncertain as to whether I would like this game and your excellent review has helped me decide that this is not a game for my collection. I would probably play it if someone wanted to put it on the table but it won't be a priority. Thanks for your insight and always having fun in your videos!

    This game is BEA-utiful! I really think that this game picks up as you move forward in the years. It's almost a public engine with the markets and the actions that you can take. I wish the tiles refilled upon taking one though, specifically at higher player counts. Loved to hear your thoughts, I think I echo a lot of what you folks are saying about the gameplay. Overall, I love this game though, really looking forward to playing it more.

    I appreciate the review, you touched on a lot of things I was wondering about and I feel like I have a better idea of what the game is about. Probably a try before buy type game for me.

    Thanks for the honest review. I haven't played the game but I was 100% sure the hype is based on the theme and art than actual gameplay. Bought Troyes (not Troyes Dice) instead which is an amazing game.

    Great review! I played this game recently and while I think this is a great game, the setup and teardown time and SO long 😅

    I thought Bitoku was designed carefully to elicit constant small dopamine hits, such that it feels fun to play while you are doing it, but the game is such a point salad that when you look back at it afterward your choices don't feel like they were meaningful.

    • @BoardGamingRamblings
      @BoardGamingRamblings  Před 2 lety

      As a person with ADHD, a dopamine game would be good 😅 I enjoy Bitoku, and I feel like there is meaningful choices, but not as much as in other games in the same lenght/rules overhead category!

  • @PimpMyFlop
    @PimpMyFlop Před 2 lety +1

    I agree with your review. High rules complexity for a point salad game that lacks depth in my opinion. The game feels like a full round too long. Maybe it was the hype, but I was dissapointed expecting a meatier game. I culled it already.

    Always be wary of the hype train. When i saw that it was #1 on bgg Essen hot list, I had suspicions, but given my 5/10 rating, I'm glad I didn't get sucked by the train. 2 hours I'm guessing doesn't include setup and is just 2P as any more and it goes nuts! 😬

    • @BoardGamingRamblings
      @BoardGamingRamblings  Před 2 lety +3

      Hmm, I don’t really look at it that way! My goal isn’t to be «wary» or «suspicious» of anything. If a game is hot, it’s because it has struck some kind of cord with people!
      Many times, it’s a theme, how it looks, the designer++, when we don’t know top much about the game!
      As a reviewer, I feel like I should seek out and play the «hot» games, that is kind of the whole point. To play them and see if it’s something other people will enjoy as well!
      I try to have as few expectations of a game as possible before reading the rules. After reading them, I often have a good feeling of how much I’ll like the game, but I am wrong on that from time to time as well.
      My goal is then to go into the first play with no positive or negative expectations, other than «I hope it’s fun». I hope all games will be fun, and that is all I can hope for when it comes to playing games that are brand new, and most people don’t know anything about.
      To answer your time questions:
      No, no setup!! We have talked about this many times, and you are still the only person I know who would add that to gameplay 😂
      2 hours was both 2 and 3 players! If we played more at 2, we should be spending 90 min or so, I guess! 😊
