Love the Videos Guys. After a year of being stuck in the UK I can't wait to get exploring again haha
Thank you. I bet you can't! Hopefully things will come good by the summer. 🤞🤞
Great vlog ...I feel refreshed after see this..well done guys ..keep it up 💪👍
Thank you Kanwal. Glad you liked it. Hope all is well with you. 👍😊
These trains are super old...this why you can open the windows. But having travelled in trains with sealed windows and no air conditioning in summer in Italy, I would take a Bulgarian train any day! Nice video! Yes the Sofia Central Station you see today was built in 1970s. it replaced a neoclassical building from the 19th c. Unfortunately, traveling by train is not as popular today and stations tend to be empt
Thank you so much. I totally understand what you mean. The new trains with sealed windows can be quite claustrophobic. There's nothing like having some fresh air blowing in and having the sounds and smells from outside. Makes you feel more alive! Here's to the old trains! 👍🙏😁
It was interesting to hear about the original neo-classical Sofia railway station. I managed to find some images online of the outside but not the inside. Thanks for sharing that information, Rositsa :))
Pretty informative and useful information.
Keep up the good work and enjoy .
Thank you. Glad you found it useful. Cheers for the comment. 👍
@@FrugalTravellers you are welcome!!
Hopefully, going to be in Bulgaria in the autumn.
Travelling mixture of buses and trains.
Even though I am quite an experienced travelling, it’s always good to have other people’s tips and for them to do the legwork!!
Enjoy your travelling,cheers from England.
@paul kenneally We're exactly the same... we like seeing other people's journeys and hear advice, especially if it helps save money :))
I hope you have a great time in Bulgaria. It's an interesting country with so much to see - we only scratched the surface with Plovdiv, Sofia and Ruse.
Thank you again for your kind comments. It's always great to hear from viewers, and we appreciate you taking the time to write.
Great video and a lot of information to watch. Well this train kinda reminded me of ours (I'm from Russia) from the 1990's, but everything changed since those times. Bulgarian tube actually uses both Soviet and Russian trains.
Thanks Максим. Glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful. We liked travelling by train in Bulgaria. We also travelled by train across Russia from St Petersbourg to Vladivostok in the winter and loved it. We have a video on that. Such a great way to see the country and meet the people. Platzkartny class of course! 😊 ~ Lee
hehe yeah optima express ran a train with car transportation from villach to edirne and hopefully will 2021;) that was possible because serbia and bulgaria had such good conditions for private trains using the rail.....;) very nice video...i went for many years with optima villach thessaloniki:) with a VW beetle as luggage on the car transportation part
That is a great way to transport the car many kilometres nice and easily. There are some really nice railway journeys in the region. My favourite is Podgorica to Belgrade across the mountains! 👍
@@FrugalTravellers podgorica- belgrade is an insane spectacular travel...my serbian friends are regularly in the region to make fotos of the trains and mountains of that region.....i had for long time montenegro tv on my sat dish till it dissapeared from hotbird
its cheap enough and service isnt really horrible. but it can be very hit or miss. new equipment or really old janky one. new track or really old rough one. but the universal thing is, its pretty empty so you can roam around with few people in the way.
Thanks, John. You are so right about the variety of different trains and tracks in Bulgaria. We really enjoyed travelling on them and found it was a cheap and very comfortable way to see the country. I'd definitely do it again and recommend it to others.
Hi Both
Hope your both keeping well.
Are you doing anymore Vlogs on Portugal 😁
We are both well thank you. Yes we are still in Portugal on lockdown so we'll be putting out more videos from here as well as catching up with some of our older footage once a week. Thanks for watching and hope you are well, too!
Yey! More toilet shots!!
We're going to have a special "Mandy's toilet segment" in most forthcoming videos. 😂
Trains are a great way to see a country. If only the trains in the UK were as cheap!
True that Andrew. Bulgaria is great value for money all round, you'll be pleased to know! 😉
@@FrugalTravellers - good value is music to my ears 😃
@@FrugalMrB Then you've come to the right place! 😊
do they give seat numbers on your ticket or can you just mosey along and find a seat? (any good airbnbs/accomodation you can recommend in Plodiv and Sofia
I thought we spoke about our seats in the video? ~ Mandy
@@FrugalTravellers ok thanks
Transformers - Metros in disguise! 15:40
You and Mandy see the world in a very similar way. 🤣 - Lee
That's brilliant 😁🤣 I just re-watched the clip, and I'd forgotten about those great Metro signs! ~ Mandy
@@FrugalTravellers 🤣
do you have a link for the bulgarian railways? i tried to look up trains in Bulgaria and did not find a good link or schedule
Hi Mark. I just had a look and found this official site. It gave me an English option on the home page but then in Bulgarian when searching for tickets.
www.bdz.bg/en/a/eco-passenger
Best of luck 👍
This is the second video I've seen showing the Sofia Railway Station as a colossal dump. It might be amongst the worst in Europe.
It certainly wasn't pretty from the outside. They've got a lot of work to do to smarten that up. 😬
Love the graffiti on the trains
They are an artistic bunch! 😁
Travel by train is also far more 3njoyabl3
We totally agree... if you check out our older videos, we spent months travelling long distance by train across China and the former USSR! Being Frugal Travellers, we will almost always take the cheaper option to try to stick to our US$20 per day budget per person! We love travelling by train! ~ Mandy
İt is must give a pasaport ?
Do you mean, do you need a passport to buy a train ticket?
@@FrugalTravellers yes!
@@Jawaeye-qh3td Yes, we had to give our passports to buy the train tickets. ~ Mandy
@@FrugalTravellers thanks
Nope, no documents.
the guy is way too close to the camera.
Thank you for your feedback.
All that to save 2 quid. Yuk.
Haha. We absolutely love travelling on these old trains. So much character! 😉
@@FrugalTravellers LOL 😂 okay. Thanks enjoy
