There is a lot of talk of Texas Speed Headers on Corvettes,not fitting well.This video is proving other wise.My cats just failed,09 ZR1,they are super expensive.GM is making us buy the 2012 ZR1,cats & down pipe now,with a new X pipe,with 2 more cats on them,the down pipes will not bolt up to the 09-011 ZR1 factory X pipe anymore,they reversed the flanges on Xpipe & down pipe ends,for all 2012 c-6 corvettes.Great video,i am going for this Texas speed kit,for my 09 ZR1.

I put a slot into the aluminum plate and ran all of my wiring on the top side of the plate to keep the plastic connectors away from the heat....more important if you are running cats, but I feel a good idea even for catless cars

Love you videos man! So glad you posted this video regarding the TSP long tubes cause I couldn't find any detailed review or install of them and was worried about fitment as well as sound. These sound awesome and for the price you literally can't beat them. I have an 06Z and a buddy that also has a Z was saying that I would need a special bracket to hold the transmission lines out of the way of the headers so that you don't burn them. Have you noticed those getting hot or any issues at all regarding these news headers? Thanks in advance! Ohh and please keep positing vids on this beast man.

Just make sure u use recommended oil. If you do have your heads done and ported and or milled, passage ways will be different than stock so dont just throw any oil into cars. Especially with these LS7's. U dont want to mess that block up cause its now around 10-15k just for it.

I called Texas Speed and asked them if they make there own headers and they said no they are from overseas , they only make there cams at there facility . I wanted to put them in my C5 but instead I went with LG,s , but that's why there so much less then everybody else's too I guess . just thought I,d let you guys know ..
Im not sure, I have never had the car on a dyno. Its street tuned. Ive been playing with the tune so its hard to say what is a gain from headers and what is a gain from the tune. But, I would say if you already have H/C and you install headers/catless x-pipe you would pick up 30-40WHP.
Did you have a check engine light when you put on this catless system? What handheld tuner do you use? Do you have a more aggressive cam installed also or is that oem?
If you install headers on the car regardless if you go catless or not, it will need to be tuned for the increased airflow. In addition, the post cat O2 sensors have to be turned off so it doesn't throw a CEL. I use HP tuners. Yes, the cam is not factory, as well as some other mods on the car.
that is a concern yes. if you have the money I would go ARH. on a budget could look at speed engineering. Texas speed prices have come up a lot since I put these on and I haven't seen better quality or fitment from their kits.
HP Tuners. Start by reading Engine Management by Greg Banish. Once you get the foundation of EFI and whats going on in the engine then you can move to learning the software. There are a couple courses and books like "The tuning school"
Nothing else for headers alone. I believe ABS stuff is on the body control module which you cant access with tuning software. You may have something else going on if its throwing ABS codes. send me a DM on instagram. @southfloridagearheads ill send over a picture of my MIL/CEL stuff.
GM puts a weak spring in their oil pump pressure bleed-off valve .install a Melling high pressure pump .watch out for the notorious dropped valves on a ls7 heads
I mean thats not really a comparison one set is like 700 bucks the other is 2k. For the price you cant beat texas speed, but they are also not at the level kooks or ARH. So it just depends on your budget and what your looking for.

@@martijn8662 If budget was not a concern I would go kooks or ARH. The fitment on the TSP headers is really good, but the issue is more the x pipe and muffler connection pipes. its all slip fit too. Kooks uses flanges with gaskets. Ive had to adjust my x pipe and muffler connection pipe a few times to get rid of some rattles.
From what I have seen the header wrap always dries out and breaks down. It leaves the engine bay covered in flakes of insulation dust. Other option is to have them heat treated but its expensive and the results don't seem to justify the cost. As long as the fitment is good and you ensure nothing will contact the headers then there is no need to worry. Ive driven the car 5000+ miles since installing them and a round trip drive from FL to NY with no issues.

@@trevonwilson1 If you already have long tubes, high flow cats and no mufflers sounds like your exhaust system is not a restriction. cut outs would probably make it louder but I dont think would help the engine flow better.
@@MrMustangred Basically Its used for full Throttle tuning to ensure the proper amount of fuel is being delivered. The gauge will display Air Fuel Ratio. This one also connects to my laptop and used to data log the AFR. No, its not factory, I installed it.

My Kooks set up which are 2” headers, green high flows and X pipe were $2300 for the Z28!

Orpheuss the bracket is nothing more than a small tab of aluminum plate with a hole in it to make sure the lines don’t touch the headers

Im assuming your asking about the exhaust manifold gaskets? No, i did not have any leaks. Texas speed send OEM GM gaskets with the headers.

If the GM Engineers know it all then I wouldnt have had to send my heads out to be remachined at 18k miles with bad valve guides. 👍

yes a 40 or 50 weight oil is good for high temps. My cars likes this oil in the south Florida heat

Do you have problems passing emissions because of the cated y pipe?
There are no cats on this setup. Florida does not have an emissions inepection like other states.

Not really, they are tucked up pretty good.

Used to condense oil vapor from the crankcase ventilation system and collect it in the "catch can" so it doesn't get sucked into the intake.

Wrong headers .. should have a D shape opening on your flange not a circle....
