I restore cars in my own time and i'm a vauxhall/opel collector, which i've restored my fair share of bad cars, but in the nicest way... them two vauxhalls wouldn't go back on the road... the firenza reminds me of the firenza 2000sl i thought i could save last year, but reality hit me that the shell was far beyond repairing and with panels not available, for the exception of (off the shelf parts) wheel arches and sills, you just wouldn't do it.. unless you have a big heart and a lot of money. I would say the chap is best to sell them as parts cars and maybe take the highest bid he can take on each car. Hopefully he is happy with what he may get for them.

I'm in a slightly similar situation to this man. I frequently used to work on cars at home, and still have some lying around. Being in a warmer climate, Australia, means that they are not as rusty but, even so, most car folk do not have the necessary welding skills. We wake up one day and realise that time has run away from us. We are no longer young and energetic.
One thing that people fail to realise is that if not for people such as John, these cars, which he probably bought many years ago when they weren't desirable, would've been otherwise made into soup tins way back when.
The cars may not be a proposition to restore, unless you are Pete C of Cortina City, but we should all thank John for the good source of spare parts that these cars now are.
One of the main things that has prevented me from working on the cars I have over the years is mental health issues. I'm reminded of the old saying - "never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes".

As already stated by others the investment required to rescue these would be a waste of time….the structural integrity of all of them are too far gone…..these needed to find homes at least 15 years ago…. Evening Colin and Stu 🤝🏻
A good but sad video too.
All those lovely classics like that 🤯
The sliding door transit would be worth a fortune now, The Mini's, Cortina's, the list goes on and on.
They were not worth a lot when put there but it's the usual story.
Nice of them to invite you guys though 😎
I'm sure they would sell some of them as there are plenty of restorers who have probably saved worse.
    All the best 🍻👍🏻

That was painful to watch!! All those so rare classics just left to rot!! Absolutely crazy! I’d be so ashamed of myself if I did anything like that!! That would be so embarrassing for me to let anyone see so many beautiful rare classics in that condition!! Especially the length of time they’ve been sat there, decisions should’ve been made a long time ago! Watta shame. 😢

  • @patm8622

Yikes !!! A 2.3 viva is rare, but an estate???? That engine went on to be the basis of the brilliant 2.3 used in the Group B Chevettes from 77 onwards. Remarkable to see one of those old Alfas, very rare even back in the day. Those 127 sports were very, very quick on the road, as long as they didn't disintegrate as they drove along!! The rostyle wheels on the green Mk1 Cortina and the gold Mk II were much desired in the 70s. Shame about the Mk1 escort, interesting he had no lowering blocks on the back, I wonder was she an E model? The MkII cortina 1600E were the business, usually with a black vinyl roof. Very quick. The sticker in the back is from the cafe in Last of the Summer Wine!! Great video !

Love this, always lots of comments about how can you let them rot but if I had the money and land, I’d have a ton of “one day” projects that I’d never get around to sorting, so I can see how this happens 🥲 good on John for realising he should sell up and brining in the best UK barn finder on CZcams 👏

I admire the fella's enthusiasm, it's like he's talking about immaculate examples on a museum tour, sadly these are not going anywhere other than the scrappers.
I could well imagine that the ground underneath these cars will be contaminated with all the fluids that have seeped out whilst they have rotted away.
At best there could be some components and interior/exterior trim might be useful to anyone restoring similar models, that actually drive, but want period correct bits?
The Arna has fared quite well, they looked like that at 3yrs old, and I don't care how big your Rose tinted specs are, they were terrible.
That 1300 Escort Mk1 has snapped, I'm pretty sure they were not that shape from the factory.
23:20 - "standing here one can see the corrosion ..." I think thats pretty much true of them all mate!
