Wow very well explained Sensei Renner. It makes much more sense now the way you pointed out the differences. Greetings from bujinkan houston tx.

First, well demonstrated. Second, I´m baffled that this needs to be explained, especially to veterans.

The interesting thing is why the armored context is not mentioned in Japan?

I thankfully had an instructor that would tell us that this was designed for armor. Here is how to do it to make it effective.

Oh dear I am worried that some there had been training so long and hesitated on the question "where did the Bujinkan come from The "Battle" field!

I actually do say that to most of my students when training in the Kihon Happo, and in our Weapons Class. Except for a couple of students of mine that actually are enlisted or have been in the military they understand thy dynamics of how armor inhibits movement they get it. It is a hard pill to swallow for some who think that everything we do in the Bujinkan is the most deadly waza in the world. I do explain that the concepts and strategies are what still work and are timeless. Perhaps one day in the future there will be those that say why during this time was there so much unarmed combat being taught with Hatsumi was Soke? Didn't people wear armor or carry weapons? In order for our training to remain alive and not a dead art, we have to update and modify to adapt to our society. You might even see different versions being taught in other countries where it isn't lawful to have access to certain types of weapons, or defenses. My Kihon should be adjusted to what I might face in combat for my culture and society. Those in Israel, and other countries where armored warfare is party of life, even certain weapons are more easily attainable, their Kihon needs to be molded to that lifestyle. All in all... Great video and insight!

Lucky for us most weapons are legal for us to use, which allows for greater versatility in our training.

Also probably the correct answer to where your skills and abilities came from would be the 18 disciplines of the ninja clans ( only two are left sadly ) , which in itself had a lot of stuff for all sorts of situations and enemies. A lot of these skills are still useful in our modern world, such as poisons, riding, water training and field medicine, and how to infiltrate and blend into crowds these are just some, and within these disciplines the era specific skills can be modified to suit our era such as were they would carry swords we could carry other bladed weapons but sword use would still be practical in some situations not many but some, they would train for sword disarms and such we should mostly train for knife and gun disarms because those are the types of weapons we would find mostly in our society. That does not mean we should forsaken sword disarms though other wise they will be lost to time.
