I think Prince cared about the women he was with, but he never really loved any of them. Hell, I don't even think he knew who he was. He was stuck in the image that was Prince or The Artist. No separation between the person and the performer. Why do I say this? Look at his house for instance. Purple theme (walls, floors, furniture, etc.), images of his symbol on the floors and walls, home studio named "Purple Raine". When he wasn't on tour promoting the image of Prince, he was living the character of Prince in his house. It must have been draining keeping up the mystic that which was "Prince". He couldn't give himself to any of his relationships because he didn't know who he was. The result: serial relationships.

It’s not so much about “religion”. You have it wrong. Having the same value system is extremely important. Whatever value system you have, I would not advise getting into a relationship, business or personal with an individual with contrasting values. It’s just a set up for a disaster, many headaches and disagreements. He was wise. He was wise to move on.

Also, Andy’s brother Christopher said that Andy and Prince went their separate ways in 2013 after she went on tour solo, which is something Prince didn’t agree with necessarily and he felt she wasn’t ready but Andy was too headstrong. They were seen out at a Liz Warfield show in 2014 together. But that was it. And also, he purchased the Turks home in 2008-09. Andy said she didn’t realize her sexuality until 2017. Prince didn’t care about bisexuality or other people’s sexuality. Hence why he was great friends and the mentor of Janelle Monae and appeared on Ellen twice.

He was going into rehab to get better pain management to keep on touring and because he was courting Judith Hill with a view to making her his final wife. When she saved his life the week before he eventually died she begged him to go to rehab. He booked it and got a pre- admission 100% clear blood test the day before he was murdered.( Clear means clear of drugs and Aids was never an issue he was clear of that too.)

However, he kept in touch with Vanity/Denise for years long after they parted as lovers. His BEST songs and the better part of his career were inspired by her. Purple Rain was supposed to be about their relationship. She was the model for ALL of the other women that came after her...SO MANY of them had a similar look to her. Not to mention, Prince died just 2 months after Vanity/Denise. I think he couldn't live in the world with her but didn't want to live in a world without her.

He had a lot of internal issues and couldn't maintain a steady/healthy/intimate relationship with anyone to save his life.
What Prince's best songs are are subjective, so okay. But I will say that the songs written about Vanity described a tumultuous/toxic/carnal relationship; not necessarily a loving one...and they definitely aren't love songs.
Additionally, I think Prince just had a thing for multiracial women with caramel complexions...so they tend to look alike.
Lastly, if Prince didn't want to live without Vanity, he would've changed his ways and married her, but he didn't. He had a countless number of muses and Vanity was just one.
