I am looking forward to the interview with the Australian university specifically aiming at the international student population.
I really thought people at Harvard were like hardcore students but seems kind of normal with this interview, they all seem pretty nice and focus in what they are doing there.

在这里想提醒各位觉得码农一毕业就200k甚至250k的同学理智一点。。。NG的话大致Total Compensation before tax会是150k - 180k。可能有的包裹给的大能到200k，但那对于NG基本是顶包了， 并且没有多个offer 来compete是不太可能的。虽然总会升职，但是我仅仅针对NG来说码农的工资没有想象的那么多。

@@christopherli1859 phd？如果不是phd的话首先恭喜 但是我说了200k会有 不过太少不具有参考价值 你能拿到这个TC说明你实力和运气都很好 然而还是不能以偏概全让别人都以为SDE一毕业就是200k+ (我说的仅仅针对本科和研究生刚毕业的 phd ng的level会高一些 就不一起讨论了)
@@christopherli1859 另外如果你想说所有fb ng都是200k+的话 then nope 我同一届的同学可以说80%都进了Google fb amazon Microsoft没有一个TC到200k的

My humble opinion about how much you will be making is not important. Once you have a solid network of classmates and a niche of your own. Sky is the limit. Money, power or anything you want will be possible.

Admitted to Harvard university, most students graduated from TOP UNIVERSITY (TOP 5) WITH HONOR DEGREE ( TOP 3), before admitted to TOP UNIVERSITY, they were TOP 3 in entire middle school. They are not only good at science, but also good for language and social sciences.

那个每月两千的博士生可以看开点儿。博后还是赚的多些的。联邦基金支持的机构比如NIH是有底薪要求的。搞学术的话基本上从博士，博后，助理教授，全职教授工资都是翻倍涨的。之后就看你能拿多少基金，以及在学校有没有领导职位了。不过总体来说学术界赚的确实少，0.3-0.5M年薪基本到头了吧。当然如果有赚钱的专利，自己开公司那就没顶了。
对，学术界还稳定呢。钱是少，科研狗那么忙也没空花，也不需要买好车好衣服工作需要去撑场面。穷惯了也花不来钱了。各人各过法。况且做得好留青史的概率也比工业界的人事高。家里有人学术界的，人家也不花钱梦想就是自己的一个发明发现将来能在史书上留下一句话。😂

那个学化学的PhD，是不是要调整一下预期？在academic，full professor大概只有15万，如果去industry，请问那个公司能给你starting salary 30万美金？大概自我感觉太好了
除非 华尔街 做金融，倒是有可能，如果他数学绝对好的话，化学的 PhD，数学一般很好

Theses young people have a shock coming.
Making it through University only proves to an employer that the individual has the wherewithal to sit through classes for 4 years. It gets them a consideration during the hiring process; but that's all. You will learn how to do your job once the company teaches you how, rarely is that the same thing as what your were taught in school.
The salaries stated by most of these people are the average in their field, not the starting salaries. You do not come out of University and into a software design job making 150k...I don't care what your grades were (yes I know there are exceptions to this but its not the norm)...LoL!! If you get the job, you then have to prove your worth within the existing business culture of that company before you can expect advancement...that means you are now working along side other people who have all been there Longer Than You. That's the good'ol Corporate Later they all talk about...LoL!!

北京不清楚什么情况，广州的话，节奏相对没那么紧，吃得真心好，房价四个大城里最低的！
其它二线的城市，杭州、南京、武汉、重庆、成都，也都很好！

@@voodooblue6162 发达国家的外企（日韩除外），一般都是和总部制度制定得差不多的，应该没这种问题，所以应该准点上下班！
其实，你可以混进他们的职场社交圈里面去问一下，外企员工一般都有LinkedIn（国内企业的员工使用“脉脉”较多）的，加十几个好友问一下。
话说回来，你都移民加拿大了，你为啥“回国”发展呢，我是没去过加拿大，一直听说那边工作和生活都很好啊……
@@marsho7778 主要是父母更喜欢呆在上海， 我也想多陪陪他们。 你说的没错，加拿大的生活节奏很慢，工作也没什么压力。听好多人说回国肯定会后悔，所以 我现在就怕回去适应不了。纠结啊。
