You could also take the backs off the markers and take the little ink pads out and soak them or drip the alcohol in without damaging the nibs

When I was younger I used to add alcohol on my markers when they dried lol and I was surprised because they worked better... Now I understand hehe
same, did this to my crazy art(or however it's spelled) markers that came with my sprayza thing also, it waz the old one that waz just a black oval tube you had to blow it, didnt smell to well so i had to go outside if i wanted to use the spray part on the times i had to "re hydrate" my markers lol
Honestly i would just dip the tip of my crayola into a cup of water to get some more ink out of dried markers
I just dunked my crayons markers which are 6 hrs old into a big glass brown of red and white wine. I’m grounded now

Love the idea been doing it for years with all my makers sharpies included. Just a helpful tip to your drip method. If you put a little rubbing alcohol in the lid snap it back on and let them sit upside down. The marker tips will natural absorb the rubbing alcohol and your good to go. Thanks for the creative thinking!

Using isopropyl alcohol will "break" a lot of the dyes used in Crayola's inks (meaning it will separate them into the individual colors used to make the shade). Furthermore, there are issues with alcohol and water (which is what the Crayola marker ink is based on) not mixing as well as you might think they would, which can cause strange spotting and stuff. It's often used to make cool effects when using acrylic paints, but might not be so pretty when trying to get a smooth blend in the middle of a drawing. Your best bet is to let the markers dry completely (like, for at least a week) and then rehydrate them using clear Alcohol Blending Solution (which can be purchased in a large bottle for pretty cheap). The solution also has the resins and other things Copic and other alcohol marker companies add to make them relatively permanent on slick surfaces. Even with all that, though, nothing is the same as a hand-cut Copic nib, which is where a lot of the price comes from.
P.S. The back end of the Crayola marker pops off (I learned that using the Marker Maker with my kids). Take that off and save your nibs from destruction while also pushing the dye colorant toward the nib when you're rehydrating the marker with the Blending Solution.

jessica frame Crayolas can actually work really well if you practice with them. I’ve been using them for a couple years now, and I’ve gotten results very close to Copics if not the same. Just takes time
I love using crayola markers for calligraphy, especially the regular broad markers. It allows me to have easy control with having the beauty of a watercolor-like gradient.
Asha Thomas even you saying they can make gradients shows they’re capable of looking really good. I hate when people say Crayola markers are horrible and not worth your time as an artist, when with just a little practice and the right techniques they can deliver amazing results. Even just calligraphy with Crayolas can look beautiful, and you don’t always need an expensive calligraphy pen and ink

My friends always say that they need to buy calligraphy pens to do proper calligraphy, while I’m over here like “you can literally use a crayola marker, it’s a really good substitute for a water color brush pen.” But then I get hit with stares of disgust, since apparently you need expensive brush pens to do calligraphy.

Well, to be fair, she didn’t mention 1 of the biggest reasons they’re pricey: they’re refillable! Not just the ink, but also the nibs! So they’re meant as an investment, since they’re made to last. Cuz the refill ink is like $7, but it’ll refill the marker like 15 times lol. As for their nibs, most reviews I’ve read say that many long-time users have yet to even need a replacement nib; cuz I guess they’re just that super well made lol.

From my experience yeah !! I tend to use nail polish remover and for most colors it turns out just fine!

Just so you know, with pliers you can pretty easily remove the back plug of the marker and remover the whole ink sponge and probably dry and fill it more easily!

I used to "wash" my markers... I would take a bowl from the kitchen, fill it with water, then pull the caps off my markers and give them a good dunking. I did this twice until I knocked over the bowl and left a huge orangeish reddish stain on white carpet. I was a bright child.

First off, love ur channel! You and Jazz’s are my favorite. I’ve seen people do this and even make their own alcohol inks.
I took it a step further, and I haven’t seen anyone do what I’ve done…
I bought 6 colorless blenders from Amazon for $5 and added my own alcohol ink, thus making them into “copic markers”….you should make a video showing people the same…especially if they are on a budget. I used 91% isopropyl alcohol and sharpie colors from the dollar tree to make my inks and added the inks into the colorless blender making them into custom alcohol markers. I’ll let you know about my future results with future colors using this method including black light and glow in the dark alcohol markers…you rock and I love your art and channel!
