    I gotta get me that rig! I have a Korg VS-1 module with some killer Hammond patches ("Dirty Purple" is my fave.) that would absolutely ROCK with the Viscount. It even has the same stereo in/out. The neat thing about the Korg is that the Leslie function is selectable through either the mod wheel or velocity sensitivity. I can dig into the chord and the Leslie effect spins up. Back off the pressure and it ramps down.
    I've been MIDIing it with an eMu Proteus Six which has tonal shaping a LOT like the Hx3. (Leakage, drive, color and you can adjust the tone on the fly) but that Viscount just blows my mind. Lemme at that gorgeous work of art! I wanna push that beast's performance envelope into the stratosphere!
    Well, now I know what I want for Christmas!

    I am an engineer from Germany. I own a HX3. Keyboardpartner is such a small company, Carsten is a genius and he is greatfully supported by Christian and do they have other people there? I do not know. More organ than HX3 is not possible...

    Nice! I've owned the HX-3 & it is hands down the king of hardwarw tweakability (you can literally replicate the idiosyncrasies of any organ). I only sold it because I errantly faulted it with the harsh hollow tone I was getting, when in fact it was my Neo Ventilator; a fact I wasn't made aware of until I connected a real Hammond to my Vent then into a sound board. I can't unsell it now. Ugh. Just bought a Viscount Legend & can't wait to put her through her paces. Until IK Multimedia and Suzuki release a joint hardware pedal based on the Amplitube/T-Racks Leslie, as that rotary tone (which can replicate my Leslie exactly) cannot be matched or beaten via hardware sim yet, for larger gigs, I'll use the Hammond B-3X app through the Legend in the way you've describe. Hopefully my experience is this seamless. Thanks for sharing #LongLiveTheHammomdSound

    All B3 clones and midi keyboards build lighter weight, thin plastic keys with too much wiggle and lose the Hammond feel. Is Viscount different?

  • @connor_flanigan
    @connor_flanigan Před rokem +3

    8:45 that's volts, not amps. and no, it would not be illegal today. Nord's organs even have a 14 volt 1/4" output to drive Leslie amp directly.

    • @raidone7413
      @raidone7413 Před rokem

      souce? did you test it yourself? do you work on these organs? Is it AC going out or DC?

    • @connor_flanigan
      @connor_flanigan Před rokem

      @@raidone7413 yes. a full chord with a bass pedal is around 12 volts at the GG terminals. yes, I've been playing, buying, selling, restoring Hammonds and Leslies for around 35 years. an audio signal is AC. if it was 12 volts AND 12 amps, that would be about 144 watts and there would be no need for a power amp.

  • @gsoulavy

    As you go back to the FX return, you will get at least a 10ms latency penalty. The HX3 is an FPGA processor with parallel processing power with very minimal latancy, but the legend runs on a single core with 450MHz. The HX3 will be more realistic, it takes time to set up, but it runs and sounds better. The spartan 7 processor is now $150, and the legends one, controversially an ADSP21483KsWZ-3AB a single core processor on 32bits and 450MHz, such as a 25 years old iMac G4 performance, and maybe that processor cost about $30. So, the conclusion is that it is better, if you drive that nice HX3 module from the Viscount.

    • @gsoulavy
      @gsoulavy Před 10 měsíci

      @@samuelbutts7802 I am glad to hear, it does not disturb you. Now I as I have an hx3 module for myself, I can confirm, that the modul has no noticeable latency compared to the legends, so if you go straight to the Leslie from the hx3, you might gain 5-8ms.
      If you play on a classic b3 (no latency whatsoever), and the Leslie is as far as 4 meters away, you will have natural latency of 10ms. if the Leslie is just 2m away then it is obviously half, so people can get used to. It only matters if you want to use additional pedals effects, and you expect the sound come instantaneously in your in ear monitor and you play in a band where it really matters if you are before, on or after the beat. In my case, I suggested, if you go straight, you might save some milliseconds, I am happy if you take it or not. I think you are a brilliant player, and you can decide, how you want to play and I don't want to interfere with that (honestly think).
      The latency I have measured it, it's a fact.

    Sounds very good and it´s an interesting concept!
    A real "FrankenClone" :)
    Couple of questions:
    1, You obviously prefer the "core tonewheel" sound of the HX3
    2, Do you prefer Leslie, leakage and some other sound parameters (which ones?) on the Viscount since you connect it this way instead of using the analog in and have all the sound come from the HX3. Or is it mainly because the Hurricane is designed for the Viscount Leslie simulator?
    3. What about overdrive? Is that from the HX3 or the Viscount?
    4. Didn´t quite get why you would connect an old Oberheim or Roland or whatever in the first place...surely the Viscount sounds way better than all of them. Am I missing something?
    To me Viscount is the second best after HX3. I have both myself (actually the orlder KeyBduo MKIII Expander) On that one I prefer the C/V to that one in HX3

    • @samuelbutts7802

      Thanks for asking. All of the efx are coming from the Viscount. The Hx3 is set to a audio preset that bypasses all of the efx inside it. I'm just using the Hx3 sound. Later I will put out some more videos displaying more efx.

    sounds fantastic. Is there a shell organ KYB that has all the features of the B3/Viscount where the HX3 module can be used so I don't end up spending a fortune on a Viscount Legend Live and replacing the sound with the HX3... Instead of spending $5000 plus $1000 and getting the HX3 sound is there a way to spend less and still have the dual manual and all the drawbars, buttons, switches, etc?
