    Handy little torch (i have the non pro version) but I'd like to see these keychain models have a circa 50 lumen mode. It should last much longer and its perfectly usable for checking under the sofa, car seat, finding your way to your yard/garden etc at night.

      Agreed Tim. Heck, my 3D Maglite is just shy of 50 Lm. Mini Mags at 17Lm for eons was fine.
      50 Lm would be just fine for finding keyset in 8" of snow. (-:
      I've been passing out the i1R2 like candy since I found mine so handy. (lol, I got 7 to pass out when I ordered a couple mini lanterns as gifts.)
      I got 2 Pros as freebies coming from my last order. Prolly will go on Alu carabiners/belt loop.
      What next? New but with a hat clip?

    The absolute biggest upgrade on this light is making it usb-c. So now I only carry one cable with me for everything. Which makes my life a lot easier. It's essentially the same light as the previous version as far as usage goes. Great keychain light.

      I highly recommend you check out the pearl shaped "Oport" that is also USBc. Between the "MCA Wall charger" & the "Oport".. that's all you need with an extra long USBc charging cable we get with out phones.

    I wonder how hard it would be to just have a full incremental range of brightness as you turn it from off to full power instead of a couple of levels. I see a lot of people say that it should have this setting or this setting in between. For a small light like this, I think it would be cool to have the full spectrum available.

    I really wish olight would make low modes more usable. Instead of 5 lumens it should be 70 or 80 lumens still bright enough but will last longer

    • @ZRockwell
      @ZRockwell Před 2 lety +1

      Keep in mind lumen count must TRIPLE in order for us to visually see twice as much brightness. Id like the modes to be, moonlight (0.01 lumen) (35 lumen) (180 lumen)

  • @spamcan9208
    @spamcan9208 Před 2 lety +15

    It's too bad it doesn't have a setting in between to split the difference. I think the way the usb port is hidden is clever, I've seen Fenix use it too. I don't know who had it first though.
    Honestly I feel like people get hung up on the top lumen number when I think increasing the runtime even more by keeping it at the 150 lumen output would be far more useful. I don't think it would sacrifice much in your ability to see.

    • @brianbartulis9709

  • @FreedomFox1
    @FreedomFox1 Před 2 lety +4

    It’s gone from 13 g to 22 g. That’s still very light. But if you’re trying to keep weight down on your keychain, the previous version may be better. For a light like this, I don’t really care if it’s a little bit brighter (I wish they would give us more runtime and less lumens).

  • @Greg9005
    @Greg9005 Před 2 lety +7

    I just got the Pro, I have three of the regular 1R2 eos and LOVE them. The pro is too big, it now feels bulky. The great thing about eos is that you dont notice it on the key ring. I hope they dont forget that this a key chain light not a mini light. I also just got the I3E eos, its nice and slender and feels less bulky then the Pro even thought they have the similar weight. So my ranking for a key chain light 1R2 EOS, i3e EOS and the pro. FYI, My keychains are minimal 1-2 keys. If you're someone with 5lb of keys on your chain the bulkiness may not matter . I hope the 1R2 EOS is not discontinued

      yeah Greg. The i3E is decent. I gave my freebie to the missus and it doesn't bother her on her keyring, 'n likes knowing it's there. She's not one who likes messing with a charger cable, except her LG flip phone. (-:

    I do wish the modes were a little less spread out... The 5 lumens mode is pretty much useless for what I use it for. I would prefer it to be more like 15-20 lumens on low, and the 180 on high. The way it is now, for me, it's either too dim, or too bright.

    Like with most Olights, it's really only worth getting if you don't own an i1R. Really not a supreme upgrade. 30 extra lumen is not even really noticeable. They should've keep it at 150 lumen with a 30min run time, instead of 180 lumens at 25min. The USBc is nice but still not a game changing upgrade. Overall a nice keychain light but not worth spending $20+ to retire the original.

    I noticed you said it came with a 2 year warranty. I believe my i1r 2eos only had a one yr warranty and it didn't make it but about six months then I would charge it til full and it would work great immediately but by the next morning would always be dead no matter what. I did get it replaced under warranty I suspect it just needs a new battery wonder if it's possible to change it? I thought all the new o lights came with a 5yr warranty I guess not but I know some do. Great video thanks for sharing!

    • @PreparedGuy
      @PreparedGuy  Před 2 lety +1

      Some of the headlamps and keychain lights come with different warranties. Most headlamps are only 2 years along with some keychains,. I believe that the older keychains were only 1 year but I could be wrong. The newer keychain lights are 2 years and all of the EDC flashlights, hunting flashlights and search and rescue lights are 5 years. If you go to one of their lights on their website and scroll down to the bottom of the page it will tell you the warranty for that particular light.

    • @PreparedGuy
      @PreparedGuy  Před 2 lety

      What type of power bank are you currently using? Brand and model if possible. Some power banks might be too powerful. I have experienced the same issue. What is happening in this case is that the i1r2 pro might not be drawing enough power for the power bank to stay on and thus it thinks charging is complete before it has even started. Let me know what you're using currently to charge it and I will see which power banks I have that will charge the i1r2 pro and get back to you. 😎👍🏻
