I'll commit sacrilege by saying Lewis Collins would've been the best Bond of all of them..had the good looks cool and charisma of Connery..the poise of Brosnan the tongue in cheek humour of Moore and the tough gritty realism of Craig..it's mad how little he was used in any major role R.I.P Mr Collins
I certainly have never understood Daniel Craig's success!..He has never expressed right kind of style or charisma( which has always been a intrinsic part of the Bond personalityif he's t playing a tough or questionable character,he's fine& i think would have been far better suited to a Villains role! Imo ( 007 nemesis) But Lewis Collins would have done a fine Job!
I'm 56yrs old I fell totally in love with Lewis when I first saw him in The Cuckoo Waltz when he appeared as Bodie I fell even deeper I was heartbroken when he died I didn't even know he was ill even now with all the handsome actor's there are today not one of them have the sex appeal and screen presence that Lewis Collins had bless his heart 💖
What a cool dude he was. Served in the TA as a Para, even started SAS selection until senior officers decided his celebrity status would not be compatible. He was the real deal, we should have seen more of him. Hope he's up there now, still giving grief to Cowley. RIP Lewis 🙏
Without doubt one of the most charismatic and coolest actors this country has ever had. Completely and totally under used after the brilliant Professionals. There's differing stories why he didn't become the next James Bond from he was too aggressive in the interview or over confident or what ever well that's pretty cool in itself, anyway the producers and makers of James Bond robbed the fans of who I think would of been one of the best James Bonds, what a waste😩😥😥 What a wonderful interview this was he was talking about the professionals being 20 years previous and now in nearly 2016 this interview was 16/17 years ago and we've lost him now where does the time go. I wasn't even a teenager when the professionals started now I've got my eye on retirement😢 very sad.

Lewis Collins certainly should have had the lead role in "The New Professionals". Edward Woodward did an excellent job, but if Lewis was at the helm it would of had the continuity factor like Patrick Macnee's involvement in "The New Avengers". I think more people would of watched the show and thus it would have more than one series.
Martin Shaw a serious actor, what a bloody laugh. At best he was mediocre. Bloody ponce with a floor mop on his head. Loved Lewis, he was every girls dream in the late 1970’s. Handsome and charming but tough as well. I wrote to him when he was appearing in a play at Chesterfield because the Sheffield date got cancelled and he sent me a gorgeous signed photograph. @@kimmarievan-ever6599 Lewis was a gent. they all got rerun contracts the main 3 actors. because the contracts needed all 3 to sign for reruns to occur at a certain rate Shaw would basically put the contract on the side somewhere. what happened one time was Jackson's widow told Lewis to try to get Shaw to sign his contract. Lewis phoned up Shaw and basically told him to sign so a widow could get payments from her husbands work. Shaw signed and payments started to come in.
@@genesis1765 wrong....Shaw never signed and Jacksons widow struggled for years. Shaw is so far up his own a**e hence Collins refusal to comment..he wasnt very happy. The 2 of them eventually had dinner and made peace not long before Collins passed away.
I assume the series he was alludito was The Professionals reboot in 1999 that only lasted thirteen episodes and was shown on Sky One? Edward Woodward ended up taking the Cowley role. Shame Bob didn't mention the B movies Lewis did in Italy in the mid 80s with Ernest Borgnine, Lee Van Cleef and Klaus Kinski. I'm sure Lewis would have had some stories about that. Interesting that he could have auditioned for The Beatles and that he worked alongside Mike 'The Scaffold' McCartney. Such an interesting life he had.

I watched the reboot recently. The first episode is atrocious but the others strangely watchable. Woodward and Doig are the best things in it.

@@genesis1765 wrong....Shaw never signed and Jacksons widow struggled for years. Shaw is so far up his own a**e hence Collins refusal to comment..he wasnt very happy. The 2 of them eventually had dinner and made peace not long before Collins passed away.
Most younger people will remember him from Judge John Deed, if at all.

Always loved Bodie and Doyle, I think they were 9/10ths the reason as to why the viewers watched The Professionals.

He was the better of the duo in the professionals and Shaw comes across as a nob, esp when he didn't even bother going to LC's This is your life.
So if he'd accepted the job as drummer in the Beatles there would have been no Professionals. After all I can't imagine Ringo Starr as Bodie.

I assume the series he was alludito was The Professionals reboot in 1999 that only lasted thirteen episodes and was shown on Sky One? Edward Woodward ended up taking the Cowley role. Shame Bob didn't mention the B movies Lewis did in Italy in the mid 80s with Ernest Borgnine, Lee Van Cleef and Klaus Kinski. I'm sure Lewis would have had some stories about that. Interesting that he could have auditioned for The Beatles and that he worked alongside Mike 'The Scaffold' McCartney. Such an interesting life he had.
