Was wondering why the map was called Zerg Canyon until Gyle zoomed in and showed what all the reclaim around the map was. The style of the map is somewhat StarCraft inspired with all the starting locations being on raised hills with ramps, but the crystal reclaim being used as an homage to Minerals, the basic resource gathered in Starcraft, it all made much more sense.
There's also hydrocarbon sites everywhere that take the place of vespene gas
This siege on the bottom of the map was one of the coolest ones ever on this channel.
Cybrans: can't turtle
These Cybrans: "Monkeylords, Gunthers, and Megaliths are the best PD in the game, what are you talking about"
In all seriousness very good play and watching them hold the line was a nailbiter
They only won that because the cliffs absorbed so much firepower from the Tier 3's. Denying the kill on the megalith or any of the Structures.
On the other hand - if they actually defended top site a little bit more they would have seen that monkey.
@@SpicyFiur Team 1 making all the errors there after a really strong first half of the game. Can't help but feel they would have won if they had tried a different avenue of attack

@@veryanonymous3630 Yeah, easy win if they poured their eco into artillery once they had the canyons locked down with PD and their t3 armies to hold it instead of marching t4 in, especially with UEF shields.

I never thought I would root for Cybrans, but here we are! Absolutely legendary game. Superintendent is the best example of "don't judge a player by his rank".
Hey Gyle, simple way to tell if ladder vs custom - the player ratings. Custom games always round to the nearest 100, ladder games show true rank - this is a ladder match.

@Gyle if the name of the replay where it says Team STB vs Team Floppy_ this will show you that this is a Team Matchmaker 2v2 Game and not a Custom 2v2 game all the TMM games will have the word Team in the replay name
Laissez not capitalizing on taking the middle west plateau with T2 artillery was a deciding factor I think. He could have shelled SuperIntendent and Willow's main bases, chipping away at them and softening their ground defenses.
I have never played Supreme Commander, but I love watching those vids of yours...

Survived snipes, com evacs, hectic defense with experimentals and team mates arriving just in time, anti-nuke racing nukes already in the air, and loads more. Deep game, a lot going on!
The map itself is interesting too as the z axis qualities really factored until both attack and defence.

This afternoons entertainment is locked in.
This one was gripping from start to finish. Zerg Canyon seems like a fun map as well. I'm almost feeling like booting up FAF again.

I enjoyed the 2v2. Not as hetic as. 5v5 or higher and could see more action and team work
damn, this one was intense! i could've watched half an hour more of this to be honest
SPOILERS! That sneaky Monekylord is exactly how you want to see them used. See too many people send them straight into T3 armies and wonder why they get wrecked. Without that play, team 2 would have never beaten him with the eco and reclaim he had, completely denying him T3 tech for some time. Great teamwork by team 2 helping each other out for the win!
Otoh a tiny bit of scouting and it would have been killed by air before it touched anything.
What also helped keep the second monkeylord hidden was the fact both had their monkeylords in the same spot. Team 1 already had an idea that there must be a monkeylord in the area thanks to its long range attacks.
But since one ML stayed put to defend, team 1 thought the ML was accounted for and didn't consider there was a second one going top.
I'm pretty sure you can see he turned off the auto fire for the monkeylord to conceal it walking up the side. The long range guns can give a way a monkeylords position excellent micro on that monkey by team 2.
I really wanted WilloWisp to build ten Trebuchets and park them under the shields in his base, they would have gotten insane value.

That Willow's base defence was top class, one of the best battles that I've seen in a while, worth loading your own SCFA and watch it in detail.

29:00 was so painful. Seeing these mobile missile launchers repeatedly exposed to danger like 3 times in 5 minutes then they literally misclick rush the line and don't get punished for it. Part of me died inside to see this.

I couldn’t keep watching after the UEF player just stood his massive t2 army there for so long that the cybrans had time to build bricks and turrets to ward them away. Go in and attack why don’t you? You even scouted them already.

This really highlights how much better SupCom is than Starcraft; taking their bland maps and making them interesting. Projectile physics sims > auto-hit attacks

Gyle, just a FYI you casted a similar map. I don't remember the name, but it also had these or more purple-ish crystals/ground texture and it was also a dark map. Too lazy to find the actual cast but this map is casted by you the first time pretty sure. Watched them all!
Is Supreme commander still pretty active? I remember this game when I was young but never understood really how to play but would love to get back into it. Just found this channel and its so fun watching great players

37:42 - floppy has play of the match by sending his inties to land near Monkeylord. 38:01 - Monkeylord kills airfactory then ignores 3x t3 MEX and decides to target t1 inties.

At 45:27 LaissezFairy has 105k reclaim, while the second best is WilloWisp at 21k, that is some good reclaiming. He only needs a few small adjustments and he would be a crusher. His opponents turtled on less map control, he should've eco'd much harder. Very safe mexes at the rear were uncapped T2 for way too long. Also turning off lower tech production once you have decent production of a higher tech. With the attention to reclaim and map control, this could have been an easy win.
He could also have sniped either of their ACUs with the T3 gunships he had left when he CTRL-K'd. If you feel like you are losing, but you still have tons of mass income and reclaim available, at least consider the snipe. Should have been very easy in this case.
Are shadows on for this cast? I think it would look great with shadows
Dunno why but i was getting some graphical distortions on this one map. Turned the shadows off as a temporary fix.

Even if it wouldnt be balanced despite some tweaking for movement and unit stats. I think it would be cool to see a custom game of supreme commander units vs starcraft units.
Maybe make up for it by having more people on one team than the other.
Perhaps a few extra creative units to help. Stuff that wouldve likely been built if they existed in the supreme commander world.
Like some unique shielding for the zerg and/or mostly buried buildings with extra dense dome covering.

As a mod sure, there are 2-3 "new" factions alrdy - as a standard faction no chance getting all players convinced for that

The topography is a bit wonky in this map making a lot of the high grounds look like low grounds

Imagine not reclaiming 5 and later on 7 exp wrecks just one step outside your main. Average Joes really are built differently.
I've never played this game, so maybe I'm saying something dumb. But Will-O controlled the middle for a good chunk of time, which was absolutely stuffed with (what I believe to be) salvageable wreckage. I don't know what it takes to actually capitalize on that, but I figured that if he wasn't going to do it while sitting on and reinforcing a choke point, he probably just wasn't going to do it.
When did they fix the netcode on this game?
