    • @along1298
      @along1298 Před 6 lety +3

      Actually, he excels in TBs and has won 57% of TBs he played on ATP starting from last year. He also won the 2 most important TBs of his career which first came against Dutra Silva where he saved 4 match points, and then ultimately the 3rd set against Nadal (where he was also 3-0 down in the scoreline). So when it matters most he's very clutch and finds a way. He just happened to have lost the last 5 TBs that he played, but it's really no big deal since he still wins the majority of them.

At 18, that's beyond outstanding for a guy who doesn't have Isner like serves.

  • @cormorant_on_arock7934

    interesting and beautiful moment in the end with Shapo and Bjorn Borg. These retired legends love the current players so much, maybe especially the really young ones, and maybe especially the really good guys, like Shap. I don't think Shapovalov quite grasped the magnitude of the moment, there (something which Federer really has a feel for, and the respect and profound class to honor in the moment), but it's understandable. he just lost a tough one, ATP official tournament or not. (Actually, this tournament is fascinatingly meaningful in mysterious ways - yes, there are no points, and no ATP officialness - but there is something deeper about it; something to do with the fact that it is a tournament organized purely to beneficently, selflessly honor the past greats of the sport - for selfless, generous reasons. It really is Divine. This is why players love this tournament, and why they play as hard as they do.

    Let's not talk about talent or whatever. Zverev, the way he has that huge power, if he can stabilize his game and have more consistency like Djokovic does, he'll be very very difficult to beat in the future. Shapovalov though is much more exciting to watch since he's able to use the wide angle so well and is very clutch under pressure, that's a good bearing of a Champion. He just need to mature his mentality under pressure more like in the Tie-breaks and he'll be off to a great career surely.

    Before I get to the tennis, what in the world did the European bench say and do at 8:30? It was like a bunch of 3rd graders!
    As for the tennis, I think it's highly likely that these two will be the dominant men's tennis stars in 3 or 4 years. It's very exciting that they are both players in the Federer mold. Both have well-rounded games, can cover a ton of ground, play great defense, can do well at the net, can create WOW shots, and have strong serves (with both still to get stronger) - and they are also both tall and handsome. This is certainly a lot more fun to watch than a Raonic-Cilic 130 mile/hr serving slugfest. Hopefully, Shapovalov will reduce his unforced errors and both will get a little stronger.

Let me tell you: even if Shap wins only one major in his entire career, it will mean eons more than zverev's if he gets a dozen. (I do think Shappy will win a few, and Zverev will probably get close to ten). … I saw Zverev play live, once, by the way - at the last US Open. He is a lot bigger than he looks on TV! A lot. Not nearly as skinny as he appears on TV. It's weird, actually.
