There goes a TV Legend.
Damn Right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And an Academy Award nominee
Mr. Waterston still just as handsome and compelling as when I first started watching him '91. Hope you enjoy your retirement sir, well earned!
Sam Waterston wasn't around until '94. In '91, it was Michael Moriarty playing Ben Stone.
@@geoffwilliams4478 Thanks for the correction. I knew it was 90s.
But goddam, his eyebrows are HUGE!😂
@@TheSadlerandrea *snort!!* That's totally true! 😂
Thank you District Attorney Jack McCoy!! Enjoy your retirement because you deserve lt👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Agreed. John Munch once said ,"There's more to life besides just SVU." In McCoy's case, there's more to life beside the justice system.
Loved this moment!!! Producers and writers nailed it, the best way to say goodbye to the McCoy era ❤
Hats off to Mr. Sam Waterston, the best district attorney 😊
Also the longest serving DA in the series I think.
The main reason I watched the show - District Attorney Jack McCoy. Fantastic actor!
Man's been in the DA's office longer than I've been alive.
You do realize this is just a TV show right? he’s not really a part of the DAs office?
Not counting when he was the ADA he and Arthur Branch were the gold standard IMHO.
@@MarshWahaOk Boomer cool story bro.
@@MarshWaha WHAT? LAW AND ORDER ISNT REAL??
@@Animedingo please tell me you’re being sarcastic. I don’t think I have to answer that question.
This episode titled "Last Dance" was like a tribute to Jack McCoy, celebrating his 30+ years as a prosecutor in law enforcement and in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. McCoy goes out with a bang, getting one last conviction before his retirement.
Remembering the words of a wisdom from the legendary Jack McCoy:
"Good lawyers get convictions and great ones get justice."
Actually good lawyers get convictions overturned.
McCoy's closing arguments were always the best!
I've always loved and respected Jack McCoy and I thought he should be the standard of DA's. With honor and respect for the law. I've so enjoyed watching him over the years. Congratulations 🎉. You will be greatly missed.
I started watching Law & Order back in 1993 when it first aired in Italy, and I've been addicted to it ever since! Sam Waterston has always been one of my favourite actors and I will miss his great character a helluva lot! Grazie Sam!! ❤
Things have never been the same since he left. Jack McCoy was the heart and soul of the show. But after spending his whole career to put bad guys in jail, he deserves to call off the career for a cushy retirement.
I would have loved to see his retirement party with cameos of his past & present co-stars.
So many of the old co-stars have passed away. This really is the end of an era.
truly the end of an era
Amazing scene on every level. You will be missed Jack McCoy❤❤❤👏👏👏
Way back in the 60’s, a younger Sam Waterson was a patient of my late grandfather (a dentist).
Based on some old pictures from back then, i can say this man has aged like wine.
Loved seeing him grow into his role of District Attorney. Sad to see him go but his legacy lives on! Happy Retirement Mc Coy ❤️
“I gave a pledge to always act honestly and ethically, without bias or favor. And always with integrity.”
A wonderful line from a wonderful TV show.
Too bad we don’t have DA’s like this any more. At least not enough. Definitely true in the REAL NYC.
As an ADA his integrity was a little more dubious...
I'm a native New Yorker. I've lived in 4 out 5 boroughs, growing up, for school, and for work. NYC is hardly a perfect place, but I've lived in FL, CA, MO, and KY. Annd traveled to other states. No place beats NYC. I don't fault the cops or the prosecutors. They do a tough job very well. No one likes crime or the some of the city's skells, but real New Yorkers don't want their city anodine and antiseptic. A little grit makes New York the cosmopolitan city we cherish. If you want bland and boring, there's a entire country out there that isn't NYC.
Enjoy your retirement,Jack McCoy!!!.You have surely earned it !!!. Your last close was.as good as any you ever did,!!! Sam.Watetston , you are.one.or a kind !!! Thank you for all.the years you brought Jack.so vividly to life !!!
This is how you knew that Jack McCoy was really really angry. It was when the Judge ruled against him and he would say "YOUR HONOR!!!". The Judge would respond by firmly saying something like "Sit DOWN, Mr McCoy!". Jack McCoy knew better to say a word but he would remain standing for a brief defiant moment and then he would just sit down.
I love this character so much…
Always gives a riveting performance
Omg, I have been watching him in Law & order for along time , I was saddened to hear him stepping down, Great actor & legend hope he gets to return
Well, Sam Waterston's contract was coming to an end. Plus, his character Jack McCoy needed to see other things in life besides the criminal justice system.
He’s in his eighties. Give the guy a break. He’s got $50m in his bank account. Why would he choose to carry on working?
@@AnthonyWilliams-ew3wpSome people carry on in jobs for the pure passion for what they do.
Some do it to have something _to_ do, a reason to get up in the morning.
It's not always about the money.
The end of an Era.
❤Loved Jack McCoy what a brilliant character and great actor Mr Waterston was in this. Loved from first time watched until the last time. Enjoy retirement ❤xc
Always a great joy watching Mr. Waterson's spectacular ability!
Jack:I know, you're a fictional character.
So enjoy your fictional retirement!!!!!
Love McCoy, but for an episode that you’re supposed to be his final episode he should’ve been in more of the episode.
What was the verdict?
Guilty
Guilty. Congratulations, Jack McCoy, on your last great win. 🌟
Guilty. Sentence is Sam Waterston's exit.
Best actor for the best character EVER
District Attorney Jack McCoy/Sam Waterston, thank you SO MUCH
I like Jack McCoy he's a g 😅😅😅 is my favorite district attorney on Law And Order
We will miss u jack
I truly loved the character Jack McCoy. I've watched him since '91. I've watched him grow and age like fine wine. I would've loved to see him as a judge, though. Thank you Mr. Waterson, for playing Jack McCoy and for such great performances. Enjoy your retirement. You’ve truly earned it. ❤
Great TV Actor & Best DA in this legendary series!!!
Well done sir and thank you.
🥹 I grew up with his character!
Lenny and Jack WERE Law & Order. There may have been some other actors. Didnt notice.
He's made better speeches, but few more heartfelt.
Jack McCoy's character was inspired by Robert Morganthau, the long term New York County District Attorney and ironically he ended being as old as him when he retired.
John "Jack" McCoy. The 🐐
I'm going to Miss Him Dearly!!!🥹❤️❤️
My all time favorite TV Character - Jack McCoy!!
Yes we great fans around the world 🌍 will b miss
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yes Sir
Thrilling.❤
So long Jack mc coy the goat 🐐 of law and order
❤
Sam Waterston was and is as constant as the Northern Star. A superb actor for decades finding his masterwork role in the second half of his career on a TV show. And he performed the sh*t out of it.
Tears… he was the BEST
Gostaria que a série fosse traduzida para o português Brasileiro
Jack McCoy was here from the beginning and now we presence the end of an era
I’m sorry to say the writers could have done better in giving him his final closing statement.
You just had to remind me of the worst week in television. We had to say goodby to two of the best to grace the small screen. I'll sure miss Jack McCoy and Ducky Mallard.
Rem Jack didn't never back down
Loved this show in the early days, liked most of the characters except Stabler, and I never agreed with McCoy's ethics...but that's just me. 😎
Is that Rob Benedict?
Yes, I googled it to confirm as I thought it was too. Chuck got caught...lol
@@trudznz yeah, I guess he did! Hehe
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I could just see the current DA of NYC making such an argument! 🙄
Sam Waterston is an amazing actor, and he still knows how to command a scene. But the years have taken their toll on his voice. It is no longer the fine instrument it used to be. He's wise enough to know it's time to "exit, stage right." Well done, Mr. Waterston.
One can definitely hear the fire and the fight are still there, but yeah, his voice is starting to fail him. Which isn't terribly shocking; he _is_ over 80.
Two points
L &Order was at it's best when Waterston was the attorney in court
We need a McKoy DA in NY not a racist like Alvin Bragg
With his tenure over the years, I feel like Sam Waterston would be a good prosecutor.
Guy was trying to convict God.
...
I doubt few would get that reference on a L&O channel.
Of all of the closing arguments, that was pretty weak. "He's a murderer. I put murderers in jail. Find him guilty." Thats not his best
You missed a big piece of it.
"Whatever else he has done with his life cannot blot out that he has committed murder and must answer for it. You cannot let anything else distract from that."
Meh. I've heard better closers from Jack.
Huge eyebrows
I like the law and order actors, but the writing is like three day old lettuce.
Hate these final moments 😢😢😢 hurts so bad
