- Ever wonder how to fold an American flag properly? Watch this demonstration by members of the Central Coast Leatherneck Honor Guard. Here, they're using a United States burial flag, which is a longer version of the flag that they use during memorial services. You can use the same technique with a regular-size flag.

You are pathetic.
@@Lungoosehey! Show a little respect!
@@LungooseCountless thousands of Americans DIED for that flag. Your disrespect sickens me. Shame on you!!!
Thanks, guys! I'd like to add that this is also the proper way to prepare an old worn-out flag that is going to be retired. After the worn-out flag is properly folded, you can take it to an American Legion or VFW Post. They can take the old flag for proper disposal and some have drop boxes for old flags. DO NOT put your old worn-out flags in the trash. Long Live the Republic!
god bless america and those who have served

I am a daughter of a Vietnam Vet and an Assistant Funeral Director. An important part of our job is to know how to properly fold our flag, present it to a family and say the correct speech. Today, I am showing a new AFD how to fold our flag. I take it as an honor. Thank you for this video. Thank you for your service.
I was handed a properly folded flag in 1968 at my father's funeral ... I was 4 years old. I am now a few months away from 60 years old and a dispatcher at a public transit company. I have been teaching my drivers, for many years, how to properly fold a flag after it is lowered each night. I still struggle sometimes to show no blood, but I am always amazed at how many people, even military veterans, have never seen a flag properly folded. Thank you for your service and your continued service in teaching how to properly fold Old Glory.
You helped me pass my promotion test, thank you for helping and for your service
You need to prove that you can fold a flag to be promoted?
Thank you for this video. I did a flag detail in Kuwait in 2012-2013 and this has been a good refresher. From one vet to another, thank you for your service 🇺🇸
This is the best video I’ve seen on folding the flag. The detail at 35 seconds about making the blue edge longer contributes greatly to the final triangle, making sure there is no red or white visible. The precision and snap to the movements are very commendable and worth emulating, together with the respect demonstrated in the whole procedure.
Thanks, an expat living in Panamá 🇵🇦; my first 4th of July outside USA. Proudly hung my flag and now wanted to folded the right way.
May almighty God bless and continue to shine on you America, and thank you for a timely patriotic reminder, best wishes from England,
Thank you gentlemen for sharing the proper manner in which to fold our flag. ❤🙏🇺🇸
Well done! I’m a retired Army Infantry Senior NCO and in the 80’s-90’s I was on numerous funeral details where we had to fold the flag for the family. The brand new flags the funeral homes use are stiff and tough to fold. If ANY amount of red is seen after the flag is folded, reject the flag and demand it to be re-folded properly. I see at the last tuck, the man folds the hoist end to easily tuck it into the folded flag, this is correct. The most important step in folding the flag is the very first fold, you must lower the red field about 2”-3” to ensure that no red will show towards the end. If you’ve never folded a lag before, get one of the same flags and practice. Out of around 50 funeral services I’ve only given the order to refill the flag once. We had a man lock his knees while holding the flag above the grave and he passed out and fell into the hole, we just left him there and didn’t bat an eye, he soon recovered and was fine. We take funeral details very seriously and we don’t goof around as us Infantrymen are famous for. The idiot that passed out was PFC Conner and we all believe someone else took his ASVAB test because he was dumb as they came. We warned him to not lock his knees and make sure he was well hydrated for the length of the service but it was a hot day and we’re all in our Class A uniforms so it wasn’t fun. We spend hours practicing to do these burial details and often it’s with rifle squads firing 3 volleys as well and we have to get the timing perfect so it sounds like one rifle firing for each volley, if it sounds like popcorn going off, they’re not well trained.
thanks very simple fold......God Bless America.
Thank you for the demonstration. Your respect and deference came clearly through to the viewer.
Correct. Thank you for your service and for sharing this video. There is incorrect information out there.
When I was a custodian,I took the flag down every day .always had a student help me fold it.got to show many students the proper way to fold a flag.
I am french canadian and I wish we had that kind of respect for our symbols. But I am in a weird spot: 1- My french-speaking parents wanted to separate Québec from the rest of the country. 2- Historically, even if you were not a hardcore separatist, you had almost nothing in common with the rest of Canada. (unless you had the chance to have an older cousin who introduced you to american rock'n'roll, grunge or heavy metal music, but then again nobody would ever translate the lyrics to you) 3- Nobody has respect for our troops here. In the USA, people say: "Thank you for your service!" In Canada... Meh! It's a living... I wish we had respect for abstract things like a flag.
Thank You Christian, I wish we still had a flag not some flag of a political party like we have
Your flag, is cool, but odd.
A maple leaf?
What a great, non-stodgy, and VERY educational, video of an important task! Easily one of the best videos on CZcams! Happy 4th of July, and God bless you sir! Thank you for your service!
Thank you gentlemen! Greatly appreciated, I know I’ve seen it folded too many times but it’s great to have a step by step for it.
This was a tremendous help! Thank you for taking the time to make this.
I did this while at Annapolis naval academy. Evening and morning colors. Special moments
Very helpful for teaching my Cub Scouts. Thanks!
I love the honor of our veterans but the class they exhibit (exceptions noted as exceptions) is something to which every military in the world seeks to ascend. Well done gentlemen and Godspeed.
Thank you. Helpful video.
That give me the chills to see it be done. Thanks
Very helpful for flag detail.
God bless you and your service to America

Thank you for this video I have a American flag in my room and wanted to exchange it with a better made flag and wanted to make sure I folded the flag right
Good to know.
Wow that is a beautiful fold
I think they may have done that to get into a tricorn hat box.
The British were still terrorizing them and the had to hide the flag in one of those boxes.
Under the hat🇺🇸
This is also a grest way to store grocery bags..into little triangles to reuse

Nice video!
Semper Fidelis!!!
I ain't American, but there's something intriguing about this process
Yeah I'm did with the Irish flag, it creates a strange level of respect for a sheet with colour on it, but at the same time it's pretty satisfying
God blesses knowledgeable people.

Some just set it on fire...........
God Bless America
Also, you could flag fold plastic bags...and put in pocket or purse☺️🇺🇸
Wrap the stripes around me goddamnit
I learned that 40 some yrs ago in boy scouts.
Should I fold it lilke this before I dispose of a flag into a fire?
They made us do this in school each day ,we took turns putting the flag up in morning, and then taking it down before the end of each day. If anyone got caught dropping the flag we had to stay in and forfeit one recess... If this was still done in schools today maybe kids would grow up with an ounce of respect.
Sounds like a great idea! Wish my school did it.
I e heard, somewhere in an Iran, a girls school, put an image of the 🇺🇸to be steped on, and the girls refused to step on it.
They may know something, we dont
yea respect some fabric, definitely not idol worship which is also a sin….

One better thing you can do with that flag is Burn it

Same it is a very effective way to store them
Triangle pyramid occult worship.
No, its not!!
It was a way to HIDE the flag in a HATBOX, away from the British
Some were terrorizing the people
They would put their flags UNDERNEATH their tricorn hats

“Thank you for your service” isn’t enough. We must honor the fallen and those who have served by protecting and preserving the Constitution of our great Nation, we must be leaders, we must teach our children as we were taught, we must never stop being the voice of those who have served and those who have gave their lives. Our Nation is at war with great evil, it’s now up to us to fight, as our forefathers bravely did. 🇺🇸🫡
