Title: "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace"ep73-2
The road to becoming an empress is paved with treachery. Ruyi (Zhou Xun) is a consort who quickly learns to navigate the treacherous politics of the the royal court and move up the ranks. Rong respected Ruth not just because she was the empress, she couldn’t care less about her position but because she was the only one who did not treat her like a paria just because the garbage Emperor was obsessed. She showed her respect but also told her the truth, she listened to her and understood her pain, and most of all respected the fact Rong had a duty to her clan but she also had a claim to her faith and whatever little Ruyi could do to help she did.
I just realised that the Emperor made a portrait of him and Concubine Rong, which was against Palace rules. I guess it symbolised the end of his and Ruyi's love for one another, afterall, one of the most memorable moments in their relationship would be when Ruyi and the Emperor finally got married and as proof of their love (and according to palace tradition) they had a portrait painted with them holding hands.
In Yanxi Palace the first empress isn't evil, it's a good drama that you should watch.

Which one?
There are wrongs in the world still, but not nearly as much, especially here in the States, which makes the fact that these types of people are almost always found in the states. If we do unlock time travel, it would be *deadly* for a modern woman to go back in time farther than 1900, and still pretty deadly at any point before like 1960, not to mention trying not to get caught up in a war like WW1 and 2 and the cold war. Modern American woman have nothing to complain about compared to basically every other country.

@@thegoliath9310 It would be deadly for any grown woman to go back in time before 1968. Just look at the tv show Mad Men. I often wonder how my grandmother managed - I think she simply got lucky and blessed that she was able to meet marry my grandfather (who was all for equality. He actually was trying to push for my mother to go into economics when she graduated high school in the early 70s). Same thing with my father's side of the family. I feel thankful that my parents were children in the 60s (as compared to adults, thus avoiding the Mad Men hell), and my mother was able to do what she wanted to in life when she graduated high school, and even more thankful that I was born much later than that.
It goes to show we can never, ever take what we have for granted. Especially now.

After watching this for the 7th time, I finally understand the emperor, he had puppy love for Ruyi, when they were younger. For the first time, he finally fell in love at first site with lady Rong. But she had no feelings for him at all. Just toleration, the emperor and her better be glade Jai and GaoXiyue are dead. She wouldn't last a week with them, thinking of ways to get rid of her. I never understood why Yanwan didn't try to kill her.

It is beautiful and sad , but if you like bitter sweet endings I say go for it!
I’d say the storyline isn’t that of a ‘happy’ ending, nor as fast paced or vibrant as YanXi. But the acting of the Empress, as well as the bittersweet storyline is worth a watch.

She has an integrity that anyone could admire.
