- Skylanders Giant was another huge success for Activision, so they made a third game, this time developed by Vicarious Visions. Today, we take a look back at Skylanders Swap Force, the game that featured swappable toys!

This was also my first ever skylander game, the graphics are so good, the gimmick is so creative, and the experience was so fun. Definitely #1 on the spot

My favourite thing about swap force is how the elemental gates open when skylanders go next to them, I love the animation on the side of the elemental gates, though I wish there were more duel elemental gates over single elemental gates
So I feel that Swap Force was a great step forward, had a better gimmick than giants, a better game engine, had you use your current collection, still had core skylanders be good, and full of content. I'm glad that the legendary treasures give a boost instead if just money. Just wished Giants had a bit more to do instead of having the Giants chests, like maybe have mid bosses that take more damage from them. Anyways it's a great step forward where the next one is a few steps back.
I 100% agree. Trap Team took a few steps back even though it was a good game overall. Swap Force will definitely a classic in my eyes

Swap Force isn't only the most nostalgic and my favorite Skylander game, I consider it as the best game in the Skylanders series. Swap Force definitely is the massive improvement over the previous games and left an deniable impact on the entire series. Swap Force skylanders are hands down the best gimmick skylanders ever.
Though Swap Force isn't really a perfect game thanks to Rufus and Spin zones. And I did play the Wii version of Swap Force which is the weakest version but I still had fun with it. If I want to own Swap Force for myself and replay it over and over again, I must buy PS3 for myself first.
Just like with the previous videos, I praise you for including the 3DS version of Swap Force on this video. The 3DS version of Swap Force is the best Skylanders game on 3DS in my opinion. Just like console version, the 3DS version is the massive improvement over the previous 3DS games. Count Moneybone is my favorite villain in the entire series. Swap zones are much better in the 3DS version. For those people who aren't happy about Hugo and Cali not being in the console version, they are in the 3DS version.
Honestly man, I agree with you! Swap Force gets too much hate just for the longer levels. They may be long on your first run of the game but if you were to replay the levels then you wouldn't need to explore as much if you managed to find all the items.

@@Mikeinoid I remember when I was 6 I hated roller brawl, but after giving her another chance, she’s damn op, I wish I token more care of her since I broke her arm and now I want a new one that isn’t broken. My roller brawl is on the shadow skater path and she was so fun to use on that path.
This was soooo nostalgic. This game was the first that I owned, the other 2 before it belonged to my older brother

Love swap force. I have the wii version which doesn't look really good but is still fun.
The graphics are terrible but it's still the same game to the core.
I recently rediscovered it and yesterday I ordered on ebay 4 cheap used skylanders and with those I'm technically going to be able to complete the game 100%: that means to go to every elemental zone, go to any swap ability zone and open giant chests (yes I had no giants as I only played Spyro's adventure and Swap force) and now I'm so excited for the time they're arriving!

@@tissetrolden I get that there wasn't an Imaginators for Wii because the Wii controller didn't have enough buttons or whatever, but the only thing I don't understand is why the graphics was crap.

While I'm not a fan of swap force I can still see why people love the game and I appreciate what it did for the series such as adding jump mechanics.
Mikenoid I saw a video where comments were complaining why they weren’t any female swappers, it would be cool to also include females but at the same time I can understand why VV wanted this approach so that things wouldn’t get weird

6:50 then why was it possible to use the first two portals in Superchargers and Imaginators? i've always felt like this was a weird lie because the Portal Owners packs didn't sell enough.
You wouldn't be able to use Swap Force figures if you were to use the old portals in those games 😪
i think it’s because you only needed the portal to be able to read the nfc chip on the base with the supercharger vehicle and imaginator crystals but the swapforce figures also needed there top half to be read as well
@@ethangeyer5597 then why do the SSA and Giants Portals read Swap Force characters with 0 issue in Superchargers and Imaginators?

@@Mikeinoid my three favourites would gotta be magna charge, night shift, and fire kraken. Magna charge was my first skylander besides the starter pack and didn’t like him a lot at first, but after upgrading him, he was so damn op and fun to play, the magnetic armaments path is so op, you literally shoot out a fireball.
Man i live in Brazil, and here one swap figure cost R$619 so when you said that there swap figures costs fifteen dollars make me crazy

i do not have any swappers yet but i have the disc for the game and my trap team game and portal will get here soon so i will probably be just using my second controller for the split element gates lolol
i got my first swappers now with the starter pack guys and rattle shake but like this white color variant version and these figures are overpowered compared to the regular skylanders, at least as good as giants but with more damage and mobility and less health
I really wish they figured out my physical gimmicks. Maybe like skylanders form changers where you can twist the waste of the skylander and it’s moves alter? I don’t know how they’d do it and it would cause issues with the figures breaking probably.

So this game introduced accolades, and I'm currently replaying it and I noticed and accolade I dont have cause I dont have any is sidekicks, (the red based ones dont register) do you have any idea, if I collect 1 sidekick, of there is another stage of that accolade to add more sidekicks? I know you have a couple of them

Yes! So sorry I didn't get to you sooner, I forgot which video had your comment 😭 But according to the Swap Force game guide, the Little Chum accolade, which is adding a sidekick to your collection, is the only sidekick accolade so you'll only need 1 Sidekick 👍

I swear I really hated the gremlin lock puzzles ik a challenge is a good thing but I always feel like the gremlin lock puzzles take up so much time and just makes the game boring for me all of a sudden

Actually tbh I like the gremlin lock puzzles more but my main complaint of them is how they’re so hard and challenging to complete like my favourite one would be superchargers since it wasn’t tedious like the shock and bolt but also features OG characters or things. The shock and bolt are not that bad, they just get tedious and long when trying to get all bolts and linking them together

The old portals can read the swap force figures
That's technically true but for one, Swap Force only let's you use the Swap Force portal of power and Superchargers tells you that the older portals can't support PvP or Co-op with Swap Force figures.

5:40 to 5:53. Oh man, I completely forgot about the Lightcore and repainted figures. These only make the cost problem even bigger. Jesus dude, how much did you pay to get all of these? I sure hope you go over this increase of more and more figures and costs as the games come by with yearly releases, especially on Trap Team!
Seriously though, I have clue what the point of the Lightcore's were besides being extra cash for toys for bob. All they did was light up when placed on the portal and be slightly brighter ingame. They could've putted this concept on all the normal figures and called it a day. Its no wonder Lightcores were cancelled after swap force after only 2 games of appearing.

9:42. Thank goodness these 14 levels are long, having about half the amount of levels of Spyro's Adventure would be a huge disappointment otherwise.
12:56 well alot of people were affected by this change lmao. Seeing as how Chompies quickly went back to their old appearance for the rest of the series and only appeared as their comical appearance again in the 3ds games of Trap Team and Supercharge. Ironically, the chompies appeared as their realistic versions in the 3ds version of Swap Force.
13:11 Agreed, This minigame is also more fun and interesting than the lock puzzles.
14:35 I feel like this game glaringly shows off the problems arena mode can have. Since some of these new skylanders are so overpowered with certain upgrades, that they are practically unbeatable. Looking at you Bumble Blast and your Bee Keeper path....
19:42 Someone who would want to get into the Skylander series? Hoowee I feel sorry for that lad then, since they will have to pay alot more money then when the game figures were sold in stores lol. That, or they play on emulation, which is a huge saver on their wallet.
10:04 I'm posting this point last because I feel its the most important. The Sky Diamond. Its easily the most overpowered Magic Item in the game. You can use this Item on the dummies in Woodburrow and practically gain infinite amount of money to upgrade every single skylander you have. Including newly bought Skylanders. You can also possibly upgrade newer figures that come from Trap Team and up to upgrade them quickly. Did you not know this or did you purposelly chose not to go over this? Because this exploit is huge!
....I do wish I never showed more brother this exploit back in the day, because afterword he refused to play the story anymore and only wanted to play Arena now because the Story was "too childish".
A lot of money was spent to get as much Skylanders I have. 😭 I do know of the Sky Diamond exploit and I think you're right, I probably should've talked about it because that was my main way of getting gold for all of my Skylanders.
