THIS is what I always wanted from FFXV since it was first announced as Versus XIII, especially with the moon shining in the clear night sky. No ruins, no Starscourge, just the bustling city nights with the sound of the wind blowing and Yoko Shimomura's somber music.

Man, I would have loved to see more of this city in the game. I would love to see more of FFXV's world in any capacity, but this city + Tenebrae are the things I wish we got the most.
Insomnia, Tenebrae and Niflheim areas. It would be great.

@@RatedRY barely, you just go on some rooftops and in like 3 small areas. You explore more of it on the main game. Hopefully in a couple of years they remake the game or have a sort of 10 year anniversary or something, because it def deserves to have it's problems fixed
I know it’s a pipe dream but one day I would love a FFXV remake like how they’re doing FFVII rn. Spilt this story up into multiple games, might be a bit overkill but then they’d have enough time to properly tell the full story. Would love to explore Tenebrae properly
This is what I always tell people about FFXV.
The entire FFXV universe has an amazing story, but the game on its own just didn't tell it very well....the story part of the game was clearly rushed after Altissia.
The game was under contract to be released before the end of 2016 regardless of how finished it was. Realistically speaking, the game needed roughly another 3 or so years for a proper complete product. It makes me so mad at square dammit

I didn’t keep up to the date with how long and just played the game and to be honest I LOVED IT. Easily TOP 5 I’ve ever played. Though I could see some cracks as sometimes and figured if someone stuff was designed like this by choice or time constraint

Man just imagine this is how the game luanched. Your noctis in insomnia for the first part of the game and you can do all of this. And you get to witness the fall of insomnia first hand. Would be the coolest thing but we got a cgi movie instead.
OMG yes would've been much cooler if Noctis didn't have to leave for Luna and like you said, witnessed Insomnias destruction first hand, maybe even see his father die. Would be cliche, but a much better motivation for Noctis, would make a bit more sense with his random nightmares and wavering mentality during the game. And when he sees Luna die later in the game, that solidifies his goal for revenge and peace so it doesn't happen again.
Also wanted more bonding time with Regis and Luna, maybe touring around Insomnia together before Luna and Noctis travel to Altissia together for their marriage? And then Luna gets dragged away by Ravus and then the main game starts as normal, just with slight changes.
this game was meant for that, look at the earlier ffxiii versus trailer, we got the same city and the live invasion. from this video i can assume they had 60-70% completion on insomnia arc but it's really unfortunate they had to scrap everything

@@jchea1764 WHat? Zodiac Age is literally the best FF game ever made, culmination of years of building these worlds. 15 is literal garbage compared to the genius that is 12. It was underappreciated because of the plot being very crappy and star wars ish. 15 is going to suck forever

Indeed. It's a very iconic and important gaming location for me, even if it seems ironic given how little of it we're shown in the main game... The city really symbolize the amount of hope I had for this game.
This is so pretty. I love the opening of the game but I wish we got to live in this city for a little while

I feel bad for people who put time on making and putting details on Pre desolated Insomnia..
This map is actually used in the game. The mod here puts Noctis into the founder’s day parade from the Episode Ardyn DLC. The signs, banners, and balloons show that this map is the open world for from Episode Ardyn. It’s wide and open cityscape with sprawling rooftops are meant to accommodate Ardyn’s moveset, who is quicker and more nimble than Noctis in gameplay.
This is like the ghost cities built by some countries that end up never being inhabited properly.
Coming back to this after playing FF7 Rebirth and seeing how much life was brought to the cities and towns that game made me realize how this one could have turned out if pre fall Insomnia was a thing.
This Insomnia should have been the opening hours of the game. Spending time with the boys, grow the relationship with king Lucis, get to know the most prominent side characters. Spend some quality time with Luna. Showing a ''happy and simple time'', but with major political conflicts and betrayal in the background for us the players to witness, gradually building up to the catastrophic, yet epic invasion, where we have to fight our way out. Also, in the middle of it begin the drama with Luna where we even might have to fight her because of reasons we don't yet fully understand.
I have accepted that I'll never get to play Versus XIII, but I'll never ever forget about it and the dreams of experiencing Nomura's full vision and the feelings I got throughout all of those 10 years of waiting.
I will also always argue that Versus's development and the result of it, are some of the most tragic stories in gaming history.
A decade of mismanagement, poor planning and terrible decisions. The ground floor devs did their best, I blame the higher ups, and even Tabata and the writer did tons of awful decisions when it came to mechanics and story and more.
Just wait for Verum Rex and Kingdom Hearts 4
@@OrganizationXIII Will Verum Rex be its own game? Not sure about that. I'm not much into the Kingdom Hearts games, not that I think they're bad I've only played very little of the first one, never kept on going. However, after watching the new direction of where KH4 is going that has made very curious about what they're going to do. If Nomura makes his Versus somehow within KH4 and beyond, that would definitely make me play the games asap!
@@takaro0 as far as i know, Verum Rex is it’s own thing.
The box of Verum Rex in Toy Story’s world is seen to only have Square Enix copyright © and not disney’s.
So KH is probably used for testing the reaction while also advertising it.
In recent interview, he did say stella(the girl from Verum Rex ad) is a Verum Rex’s character and not Kingdom Heart’s.
Also nomura is torn from choosing between KH4 or Verum Rex for his next project. And ultimately decide on KH4 because of KH3’s ending.
I hate FFXV for what it was, the combat was bland the story has more hole than swiss cheese (talking about you ignis blindness why tf do i need to pay for DLC to know mf, also why did regis not warn noctis about ardyn what an ass dad, so much hole so little will to write them) and the only good thing from it was Ardyn. (Very evil villain i love it)
I’ll never lose hope for Versus XIII’s return. But all hope seems to be lost. 😔
Personally, kingdom hearts is my favorite franchise of all so i do recommend the game for you.
@@Veltee Yeah, I did look up everything I could about Verum Rex after my question, but that was a while ago now so that interview I've missed. Did he specifically say Stella?
There's still a few things though that makes me question Verum Rex becoming it's own game or IP.
First, it's connection to KH. 4 will apparently take place in the city where Yozora lives, so that makes me think that VR won't be its own thing, but instead at the most be a possible spin-off series within the KH lore and personally I'd much rather see it become detached from it.
Second, I haven't seen Nomura really give a direct confirmation that there will be a VR game, as what he said was specifically that he wasn't sure if he wanted to do a Verum Rex game or KH4, but he chose KH4, for the fans, but as he will be using VR in this new KH arc, I don't think we can be sure that a VR game will even be made and instead whatever VR story that exists will be incorporated in KH.
Even though Verum Rex isn't Versus with a different name, there's definitely enough proof that he hasn't let go of those concepts and will use at least some of them in the future.

I definitely agree with you on XV. The story, combat & general game mechanics are of very low quality.
Versus conecepts was used in XV in the most shallow of ways, stolen and warped into something else entirely, so in that sense Versus as he first envisioned is forever lost, as he won't be able to use those characters that he first drew and the names he came up with, a story taking place in a FF setting.
No matter how much I wish for a Versus game using everything the way they were supposed to be used, realistically that will never happen. The ones in control just won't allow it.
Hell, if it was up to me, I'd just give him all the freedom and resources he wants. I'll let him take back and use everything from XV, use all the concepts about death because I don't give a F*** if it can't be sold in China etc and he can name the game whatever. I see Nomura like Hideo Kojima, I just want to see what the man can do when he's not held back. I'd just make sure his true Versus vision becomes realized.
With Verum Rex though, now we've got every reason to see it as some kind of revival of Versus. Although they will be used differently, concepts of that vision will be used. For now, I don't dare to hope for anything more than that.
Admittedly I'd rather him making that Verum Rex game, but I am happy for you and yes, I'll definitely make sure to have played KH1-3 (+watched the other games on yt) before 4 comes.

every day i find out about something that was supposed to be in ffxv/just didnt make it in at all and i get sad, i love the game but there was a lot of potential to be explored, its been years but its still a bummer to think about

crazy how this is all there in the game/demo, yet we don’t ever get to see it in the full game. as much as i love FFXV, the game overall was so much less than what it could’ve been
I agree 1000% but this is actually from the dlc. Where you do see it. Sadly in Ep Adyran you only get to see a tiny bit and are forced into the objective
13 & 15 suffered the same fate in that regard

Cutting Insomnia from the beginning of XV is like cutting Midgar from the beginning of VII
This game took legit 10 years to develop, but i could've waited 20 years to get what we got + everything that was cut from the main game, i would also pay for that

Bro I'm telling y'all, you can fit an entire Grand Theft Auto game there, the city is so well made, why can't we see more of it on gameplay, i would love to check out other areas like the opera house or the industrial district with that level of details while destroying demons or empire soldiers (or being destroyed, depends on how bad my gear is)
Nah not GTA lol It might seem bigger in video than it is I guess. Once you start going away, things start to be lower detailed and then just background. It would be big enough for a city in this game though, because it's definitely bigger than any other cities from the main game (that's not hard), or for a yakuza game with more freedom, but it's definitely not on the scale of something like GTA, at least not in its current "available" form. If the WHOLE insomnia city was modeled and explorable, in that case yes.

This actually looks like the map from Ardyn's DLC. Or at least the final version. I did see an earlier version which was much bigger though it didn't look as flushed out as the Ardyn map.
It's so sad what this game could've truly been.
I hope one day we get to see this game original vision get made. I know Nomura still holds Versus 13 dear to him, look at Verum Rex.
It's insane how much assets and scenes were build for Insomia to never be utilized or care for, I'll probably end up getting this game on PC just so I can get the experience I've always wanted and not the rushed product we got delivered to us.
Very true indeed. If you're interested about visiting Insomnia, I'm also working on a mod for Kingdom Hearts 3 where I'm expanding on what could be found in XV. I'm expanding the area, making the city larger with more places to visit, as well as recreating places from VS XIII trailers, such as different interiors in the citadel (the crystal room, the conference room), as well as Caelum Via (the tower from VS XIII trailer) and its surroundings. It's still a work in progress, but you can see some stuff on my channel about it. My goal is exactly about that, I'm trying to piece together things and recreate what is missing, so people can finally explore a proper version if Insomnia, something that has been kept from it for too long =(

At some point Insomnia was meant to be playable and explorable in the 2013's trailer of FFXV and im still mad at them for not allowing this to happen

Yeah lol I edited the values with cheat engine to make it like what I wished it was if we could have explored Insomnia in the main game. Being able to freely warp around buildings would have been great

FFXV had such a good story and lore but it was so badly executed it still frustrates me so hard.
Imagine if you got the first 2 or 3 Chapters in the game playing as Nyx in Insomnia, on the 3rd or 4th Chapter the Empire invades Insomnia, you manage the fight through the invasion with Nyx and at the end he sacrifices himself to get the Ring of the Lucii out of the Empire's hands in hopes it reaches Noctis.
After that you play as Noctis as you normally would but with the story and lore of the world told properly without it being cut into DLC's that flesh out the characters.
And less outposts and more actual cities or small villages populated with NPCs to feel alive instead of an empty map with several small outposts with a handful of NPCs.
This game could've been a master piece.
Kinda reminds me of a couple cities in North America while also being like Tokyo, London, and Paris
If only this isn't a mod and I can get inside of this city as I can go around all around since this is a huge city, I'll be more than happy to explore around.
Silent Hills (P.T.) and FFXV are the games that are different, one is horror and canceled, the other is adventure and half-baked, but got a same treatment: both companies made them dirty!

I can't imagine spending all that time and resources to make this, only to choose not to include it in game. Something went very wrong with the management and development of this game.

Just like the other video, very nice editing! If you do another one in Insomnia, I don't know if it's possible to have a daytime version, but there is the station main square as depicted in Kingsglaive, as a cut section in the Royal Edition (blocked by rubbles), with unique assets and buildings, that could shine with your style of editing!

I can change the weather to day light in the royal edition map yes, however I'm not exactly sure which area in particular you're talking about, and where. I also don't know if that would be enough content for one video, but thank you for the info.
@@Larxia You're right, it might be a bit too small for a whole video... But just in case, it's on the other side of Insomnia station, it's a big plaza inspired by Trafalgar Square. There are urban assets that should load like benches and guardrails, but I don't know if they appear if you stay long enough or if you have to trigger a loading point somewhere.
I still love the game. I just wished Square Enix would finally ask the fans what they want instead of wasting time and energy for merchandising and the grief longing for more cash... Even other companies ask for ideas or what could be improved.

I don't think we need a remake, I think we need a sequel.. Cuz FFXV was a masterpiece itself imo....
This mark the beginning of the end for SE. That’s why they fished out FF7 remake in hopes to saving themselves, but they can’t even do that right either, changing the storyline when all people wanted was a REMAKE.

So much detail, so much to explore.. 2:16 there is Luna on a screen on the building which I find strange because this must be the map from Ardyn's DLC which played before Luna was born. Maybe someone can explain?
I think that might be Stella it looks like her 2013 design before being scraped. Makes me sad this should of been part of the base game.
I don't think that's Luna, but like Killerxkoed said, it does look a bit like Stella. There's another poster similar in the insomnia ruins from the royal edition:

Well basically:
That's not Luna but it's something like: Ardyn stayed locked on that weird shaped island you can see through galden (Noctis is also locked there) for centuries or something. And he gets rescued by the empire with the mission to destroy insomnia to allow the empire to go through the blockade, that's when the city falls. By that time Noctis was on his way to galden to get the boat to Alissa, as far as I know Luna was in the city when all that shit happened but escaped, you can see that through a cutscene on the base game and on the movie Kingsglave.
So that happened during the main base game, but you're right Luna wasn't born back in Ardyn's days

@@hackerwolf1995. Actually, there is no doubt that that's Stella. Back in mid 2011, Motomu Toriyama mentioned that FFXIII-2 was originally going to have more FMVs, but it was decided that they'd forgo that so that Versus XIII could have more FMVs. It was then announced that Noctis and Stella's meeting had been redone as an FMV since they decided it would more fully enhance the emotions of the scene.

If you look at the official Stella image from the 2013 trailer, you'll notice she has the same earrings, as well as the same effect on her eyes. i.imgur.com/KX9iJjs.png And if you look at the background, it's very obviously the party hall. i.imgur.com/6qk1CEl.png
Now, taking this into account, there's no way this isn't Stella. The more pertinent question is if it's from the finished FMV we never got to see but heard of or is it a completely new scene made because, as Tabata himself mentioned, they knew people would be pissed about her exclusion and made a new version to be used as an easter egg. We do know a few previous FMVs were used as easter eggs, namely the wideshot of Altissia, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did indeed do this. If they remake this game, hopefully Square Enix will have enough money to make more DLC. I would love to have a Episode of Cor or Ravus. I know there were other Episode's that didn't make it in the game due to insufficient Balance.

You can see it if you play the Ardyn DLC, it's not very long but you can explore the city, although there are ennemies etc.
@@Larxia Ahh cool, i never played the DLC chasing the plat trophy and finishing end game content first, farming Adamantoise with the ring of lucci for lvl 120 then doing the menece dungeons... soul destroying grind lol
@@nostromo2871 Lvl 120 always seemed useless to me, there's nothing that needs it so I never bothered.
But yeah if you're interested in seeing more Insomnia, episode ardyn is a good opportunity, but you won't be able to explore it calmly with noctis like in this video
@@Larxia I just wanted to be as strong as possible, always grind to max level in final fantasy games, i already beat a lvl 120 boss at lvl 90 but i spend the majority of it using heals and phoenix downs for an hour it was tedious lol after 120 im going for 3 ribbons so i dont get petrified on the menece dungeon you can't use items
I do hope for a far future where a remake of XV will be in talk just like they did with FF7R but this time going through with all the potential and promises.

FF XV had the potential to be the best FF, just needed more time like 2 more years, I understand that SE wanted this out but man... so much left , so much potential its sad.

I still think it's my favorite FF despite its HUGE flaws, because I like what exists ot it a lot, and it reminds me of the whole project it could have been as a whole... but yes it hurts.

The game was very good, I did enjoy it. But... When I think back about it, I can only think about how freaking amazing it could've been. Lots of things felt like they were missing, some things felt like they were half assed, but then also attention to detail was more than on point in a moderate amount of places which made me belive that whoever made the game did care a lot about it.
I loved the ending, really did, but it is obvious as a galaxy that the latter half of the game was rushed. That island where gods were or whatever, when I saw it from the Gualding Quay's? docks I wanted to go there. Of course, you can't... When I saw this city on the map I could not freaking wait to explore it. A modern open city that is not on GTA or a game where you are a criminal or a cop? HELL YES!!! I was hoping for snow and mountains, for more lore regarding the past, for guest characters to stay with the party for longer than an hour or so...
Ahhh, this game is without a doubt the most disappointing video game I ever played, and it can hardly be topped :/

They created an entire city... And then didn't use any of it
For anyone wondering yes they used the same city in the movie.
There are even some remains from that, the train station from the movie is for example visible when you fly out of bounds, at certain angles:

I noticed that the ardyn dlc insomnia doesn’t make the buildings light up during the night, you should try out the open combat ver since all the buildings like up during the night

@@Larxia basically when you install ffxv for the very first time, it will start downloading the game/update but while the game is doing that underneath load game it will show a open combat menu where you can play as young noctis fighting demons in a cut insomnia that the entire city lights up & have cut content from versus 13
Or simply delete the game/re install to try it I basically backed up my save data & dlc to try this

This game has very underutilised detailed areas, it feels like they were really ambitious, but rushed it.
