Röyksopp and Susanne Sundfør perform a cover of Depeche Mode's 'Ice Machine' live on NRK's Lydverket, where they also premiered a brand new collaboration 'Running To The Sea': • Röyksopp - Running To ...
'Running To The Sea' is available to buy on iTunes: smarturl.it/rtts - Hudba
This is the best DM cover I've ever heard. It's a fairly obscure song so will be new to many people. The quality is so good because Susanne Sundfor is one of Norways best singers
I love the sound of suzanne
Agreed!
Absolutely incredible version ..what a voice ..it’s not often a cover is better than the original but this is definitely one of those
Röyksopp + Susanne Sundfør + Depeche Mode = HEAVEN
Her voice is hypnotic.
Royksopp have incredibble pick for vocalists!
@@palmiccz Yes, amazing artists.
10 years later this is still the best god d**n Depeche Mode cover that has ever been performed!! Love it immensely!!
better than the original
@@iamyourfuture808 : By far!
Love her voice but I find her stage presence weak.
There is a better version of Enjoy the silence made live by Infected Mushroom, but i have never been able to find it online. "best god d**n Depeche Mode cover that has ever been performed! " imho.
I think the best DM cover is Stripped by Rammstein
I'm so glad they kept that darkness from the original song. Ice machine was the first song I heard of DM at the tender age of 5 years old and I knew it would become one of my favorites. 30 years later here I am finding this masterpiece with no one else but royksopp and sundfør
Как же быстро летит время. Казалось бы, что слушал вчера...
Incredible, just incredible... Very rarely a cover beats the original but this is from another planet.
This OLD and obscure Depeche Mode song that I listened to back in the early 80's.... Never thought I'd hear anyone cover, let alone a cover this good! Bravo!!!
Not so obscure. The live version was a big thing as a BSide to Blasphemous Rumours later on. When B Sides were a big thing!
Top interpretiert. Bravo !!!!☺
It's so old it even pre-dates Depeche Mode, back when they were "known" as Composition of Sound.
Here's a 1980 demo with Vince on vocals and Fletch on an electric bass: czcams.com/video/YYMVXevx4jw/video.html
I saw DM live in London 1982, just no guitars
They were still learning and trying to establish their sound and music
These days they are a massive band, this is fabulous cover
Kind of experimental with the sound, 🥁🎹 pounding drumming and delightful vocals
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Как убежденный фан DM хлопаю стоя!!! BRAVO!!!👏👏👏
аплодируете
Depeche Mode + Susanne Sundfør + Röyksopp = pure gold
Even Depeche Mode has said that this version is better than theirs 😅
That’s quite a compliment!
Can you link me to the interview where they talk about this cover version?
@@Scorp_II Don't know if it true, it was something the presenter said. Have been searching the web, tho. But can't find any proof of that. @asbjornslettemark
@@TheKimmegutt oh.. thanks for checking :)
What a tribute to a brilliant band by a brilliant singer and another brilliant band!!
Makes my heart smile.
What a single. Has there ever been better. 1st 7” single for Depeche Mode.
Dreaming of Me on the A side &
Ice Machine on the B side.
Vince Clarke and Gore even by March 1981 had written a live set of 14 absolute bangers.
1981 Depeche Mode with Vince Clarke were incredible gigs and days that I saw as a 17 yr old. Great Days. We knew it was all time awesome then. Witnessing history.
It’s Amazing that when Ice Machine came out in 1981 via DMode single it was only 18 years after the Beatles 1st hits and only 26 years after Elvis Presley’s 1st hits but here we are..42 years on from the original 1981 DMode hit.
Those first 26 years of Rock n Roll, Pop, Rock, MoR, Soul & Disco & Prog sure crammed some hits in.
Leaves todays music output in the dust.
This song is an obsession .... I can't stop listening.
DepecheMode + Röyksopp... the soundtrack of my life!!
For close to 5 years there was not a single month without this song!
Очень достойное исполнение!! Благодарность от фаната ДМ со стажем!
Поддерживаю! 👍✌️ поклонник с 1986го
С 91
Its actually a cover of Depeches 1984 live version of their own song....Clearly Royksopp remember how good it was.....Its the only version with the double drum in the final musical piece.......
Great cover.....Nailed it
SIKELL1 good catch
I don't have words for how good Susanne Sundfør is. Röyksopp and her are a perfect combo.
Scott Rossi h
She is absolutely amazing.
Yup... ^What Scott Rossi says^ 😍🥰❤
@@MaiaMirabell I think you're gonna love this: czcams.com/video/b3VAnlPwNu0/video.html
Hello. First heard Depeche play Ice Machine live in 83/84 at Birmingham Odeon. Recorded the 84 live performance on cassette from radio, as we all did back then. Never forgotten it. This interpretation is wonderful. Thank you 😊
Most electronic bands cover, Enjoy the Silence, Stripped or Black Celebration. This is the first time I have ever heard "Ice Machine" covered. This was absolutely astonishing. Thank you so much. I am now a Royksopp fan.
Seriously, Susanne Sundfør and Röyksopp NEEDS to do a collaboration album! Pretty please!
I agree
Royksopp stopped doing albums . ...thats why they called their last album “the inevitable end“ but still making songs
DM's and Vince Clarkes best song ever, covered... f... ing awesome cover!
Amen!
Oh how much I would love to hear Susanne and Royksopp in a concert together. Such a shame Royksopp doesn't play anymore.
One of the most underrated Depeche Mode songs and you guys nailed it. Nobody can make a better cover version ever.
I feel the guy at 3:20: he gets it. He is blessed with an exceptional performance from Röyksopp and Susanne. I hope they got a text or call from DM or Vince sometime, they truly deserve it.
I envy him. He got to bask in that awesomeness.
It blows my mind that any Depeche fan doesn't like this!! Depeche Mode is my original musical inspiration and I was blown away by this!!
That is a brilliant version....no doubt about it
DM лучшие!
Read my post 😉
The guy in the audience just standing there with his eyes closed (at 3:20) absorbing everything is just how I am when I listen to this.
Потрясающе. Еще и еще раз спустя время возвращаюсь к пересмотрю этого кавера. Сам не понимаю, чем он ТАК цепляет.
One of the best DM-covers I've ever heard.
This song gave me a little peace, when my mother passed away last week :'( Still does.
Thank Vince Clarke.
Обожаю эту малышку и её голос
An early Vince Clarke Masterpiece in a mature but timeless interpretation - Chapeau!!
The live drums and their choreography fit perfectly!

same here, right now! amazing! :-)
Same here, in late 2020. Found it on the Spotify list Lost Tapes just a few weeks ago --- MIND BLOWN
Yes
Depeche Mode were way before their time. Just shows in covers like this. Love Röyksopp!
really cool!
Word!
Actually Vince was the genius who unfortunately left
Speak & Speak was undoubtedly the best album amongst the many...
This video shows the real ice machine.
czcams.com/video/Z7xa3QiJZYY/video.html😜
Röyksopp, Susanne Sundfør and Depeche Mode together its like breathing ice cream, just a gift :3 :3 :3
This is so well done. Taking a track that is not hit, just a b-side, that neither Vince or the Mode promotes anywhere, and just doing this amazing version.
Its on speak and spell´s second release album
Actually this song belongs to the previous group 'No Romance in China'
@@xavieralbareda Nothing belongs to "No Roance in China", "French Look" or "Compostition of Sound".
Such a wonderful vocal. She is adorable. ❤❤❤❤❤
The best DM cover i have ever heard.
+joydivisiongirl Intending cover as a personal reinterpretation of the original song, I think that "Monument" cover by Gus Gus is better than this. But obviously, this cover is very beautiful (and superior) in many other aspects.
yes!
+joydivisiongirl Agreed!
And a B-Side at that! :)
I always played this more than the A side (Dreaming of Me). Awesome cover.
The best Cover ❤
Phenomenal performance, I wish they'd do a whole album together.
The ultimate cover. Susanne & Røyksopp a match made in heaven. Vince Clarke sh be proud.
You've got an angel's voice Susan. I'm delighted with your singing. Greeting's from Poland
Quelle voix envoûtante, comme un autre chanteur norvégien Morten Harket ❤
Susanne Sandfor is amazing!!
those eyes, that voice and that talent... i'm in love
Am I the only person enjoying this song during quarantine 2020?
Me too. In Perth, Australia
This is my favorite. I'm from the US but in Albania right now. It's weird.
Not the only) I'm from Siberia. Stucked in Moscow for almost 20 years...
Before the quarantine, during it and hopefully after...
Finland
Wow blows my mind everytime ! Pure shivers !!!!!!!!!!
WOW! Depeche Mode is not my cop of tea but this song and music by Röyksopp and the magic singer....Its just MAGIC 🤩
One of my favourite DM tracks (Vince is a genius) and definitely one of the best covers I've ever heard.
This song with this voice is totally addictive. So good
Not just a cover of Depeches Ice machine but a cover of Depeches 1984 live version of Ice machine......The best
exactly
@Ridge Juliann wtf
Original available on Blasphemous Rumours 12” (the yellow one).
Best icemachine cover i could imagine. I worked out a number of versions over the years by myself but röyksopp brings it to an unpreceeded excellence and even tops it with an outstanding live performance.
Absolute masterpiece....visually stunning, reworked synths and her haunting voice, make this song more uplifting than the original and as a lifelong DM fan, from the early 80's, that's as much praise as one can give. Love, love, love this version!
she has a brilliant voice
The perfect voice for this track ❤
Can we get more covers like this? !!! PLEASE!!!!! Honestly this is the only DM cover that does them justice.
DM + Royksopp = case closed game over 🤩 anyone thought that there are subtle similarities between get the balance right and happy up here videos?
wow....voice, tune, sound, execution...simply stunning
Sounds great...Love her voice...
She is WOW, and this music is WOW !!!!!
like looking at the world and reality from a different perspective, a combination of fantasy and melancholic melodies and deep art that moves one in the soul, it takes you to a world between fantasy and reality as if it were a time machine that can take you back in time , a mixture of old memories in a modern set, feels like you are floating in the air
Ho are you
As a DM fan for about 37 years i must say: very very well done.....⭐⭐⭐⭐
The best Depeche Mode cover I ever heard. Greetings from Russia. My great thanks:))
Fucк off Russian bastards

Awesome. What a voice
Susanne's voice is haunting me at night... I can not sleep...
How?
amazing. just hiting replay
I just adore her voice and her solo albums are unique
Magnifique !
Beautiful song and melody ..
I frequently come back to this and Monument from Röyskopp - both are so awesome. This is such an excellent cover. (I'm a huge DM fan as well..)
Just can't keep quiet about this. I read the Berserk manga listening solely to this song and it evoked such feeling in me that I will remember it for my entire existence. Unimaginably incredible.
Wow! Just found this. She has the most beautiful voice. I am enamoured. I love the drum line, the synth, everything. This is one of my favorite videos. Like others, I've lost count of how many times I've replayed this song.
Running through my head secretly
The shouts of the boys in the factory
I ring you on the telephone silently
Like blood, like the wine in the darkroom scene
The darkroom scene, oh, darkroom scene
A letter once composed
Seven years long and as tall as a tree
Reading on the wall
Emissions, efficiency
Efficiency, oh, efficiency
Resurrect
As a feeling
On my window
Of a past reunion
Resurrect as a feeling
On my window of a past reunion
Visions of a picture
Like the city
And the air we breathe
The air we breathe, oh, air we breathe
She stood beside me once again
I knew her face
We met before in the street
Recalling all the children dancing at our feet
The dancing feet, oh, dancing feet
emissions or efficient?
Best ICE MACHINE cover. Amazing
Absolutely amazing ❤️🙌🔥❤️
Juste superbe ! Merci beaucoup
simply a masterpiece
I'm so proud of Susanne, we come from the same small town west in Norway. Thanks Susanne !
Wow! Small world, y'all friends?
She’s pure magic
Too bad she sounds terrible. The original version by Depeche Mode is better.
With my Bang & Olufsen headphones on xfi-creative she sounds not too bad...:D
