The most expensive RV we've ever owned but it's our home. A completely custom RV semi-trailer that we designed and asked SpaceCraftmfg.com to build took 7 months. On our Big Rig's 4th birthday, we decided to share it with the community. We hope it's been worth the wait and you enjoy the full inside tour of our home. We designed this 5th wheel RV but Spacecraft Manufacturing built it.
Welcome. How big are we?
1 minute mark:
Welcome and begin the tour of our home. It's a completely custom RV built on a semi-trailer chassis.
5 minute mark:
A secret room in an RV? It's small but extremely hidden, in plain sight. Custom power recliners make TV viewing with surround sound a pure joy...when we get time from retirement fun! The solution for the center channel speaker is so cool as we incorporate it into a "secret drawer". The Harry Potter room as we call it.
8 minute mark:
We show you the kitchen fit for a chef along with plenty of storage. Lots of cabinets with pull out drawers, adjustable shelves, double sink, granite counter tops and heated tile floors. An appliance garage and slide out tray for the toaster oven make this a super unique home.
14:15 minute mark:
We show the incredible expanding table which seats two...no wait...four adults...and large enough to use for games and working on projects. Chairs for four to sit at the table, where do we store all this stuff? Plenty of storage available. A commercial grade soda machine along with Sondra sneaking a sip of Diet Coke. Also, meet the Beast, the chiller for the carbonated water.
17:15 minute mark:
The foyer or entranceway is important and has our shoe cubby. We enjoy the Hawaiian custom of removing one's shoes, but where to store them? We have a cool solution. And a great place to store and charge our Eufy (robot vacuum). A Dyson vacuum is in the closet as it charges on the wall. We also expose our cache of Whataburger foam cups. No judging! LOL. We explain our Firefly system and how we have a backup to insure we always have lights. This feels very residential.
22:30 minute mark:
We start to head into the bedroom and discover a unique barn door which doubles as an art display. A residential size queen bed with room to stand in the slide out and room on each side of the bed along with nightstand tables for each of us. Plenty of storage in the vanity and cabinets to house ALL of our t-shirts. No judging! LOL.
26:30 minute mark:
We head into the bathroom and discover the full size shower with over 7 feet of head room! Wow! That's unheard of in an RV...but this is a semi-trailer RV so there are more special items to be found. A custom one of a kind closet with a Splendide washer/dryer and a cool ironing board area sets this bathroom apart from any other. A hidden drying rack that pulls out for delicate clothing!

We use the TSD card for diesel fuel and save a bundle each time we fill up our Big Rig. We also use it to fill up our Onan generator.

Our extreme completely custom 5th wheel is built on a semi-trailer chassis with air suspension and air brakes. Completely loaded it weighs 42,000 lbs rolling down the highway. And we do roll down the highway nearly every week. You see, we believe that if your home has wheels they should be used.

Coachnet is our roadside assistance company we use but hopefully we don't use them too often. LOL

After viewing hundreds of RV interiors from many different CZcamsrs I have finally seen one where I can say "Yeah, that's comfy".

"People report having LED light headaches amongst other symptoms like sleep disruption, neurological issues, eye strain, fatigue and blurred vision. If you suffer from low concentration, this could also be a result of flickering lights in your room from various sources like digital screens and light bulbs."

I design custom sticks and bricks homes, "McMansions", for a living these past 30+ years and have to say the tremendous amount of thought and planning that went into designing your Spacecraft RV is nothing short of phenomenal. No space is wasted, unlike many of the homes I work on which have TONS of wasted space. I do not own an RV (yet), but have been researching RV manufacturers for years and Spacecraft came up in my radar quite some time ago, mostly because of their unique ability to customize their builds, as you have obviously done. I stand to inherit a modest (by today's wealth standards) sum at an unknown future date that will eventually fund my RV dreams. I have no idea how much, exactly, I stand to inherit, and so am keeping my future RV plans very modest, which rather quickly eliminated Spacecraft from my shortlist...among other customizable RV manufacturers. However, in my "ultimate dream" scenario, I'd have a set up much like yours, only difference being I'd garage a sassy little sports car (current choice a Miata) on the rear bed of my HDT rather than a SmartCar.

What size is the flat screen TV in the living room
Your "RV" is a comfortable, welcoming home that actually feels like a real home, not just a box on wheels. What you've done with it is amazing, graceful and tasteful. I live in a fairly nice apartment, but I'm jealous of your kitchen...it has about twice the counter space of my kitchen. What really makes it a great, livable place is the two of you; your talent, your wonderfully innovative ideas, your impeccable taste, and your hard work. Keep up the good work!

I love so many things in your home. The laundry set up is genius, and that drying rack is something every RV should have! Having that adjustable table changed my mind about even having a table. I was leaning toward a bar with stools. You two are very clever and I really loved the tour. Thanks so much for sharing.

To me, the spice racks are the only way to go. Easy to see what and where they are instead of trying to find what you need in an upper cabinet. Love the soda machine. Never saw that feature before. The broom closet is a must have. WOW! The clothes drying rack is a great idea and should be in every camper. OMG, an ironing board too. You've thought of everything. That is a complete laundry center. I am amazed at how much you squeezed in the camper, yet it is so spacious. A well thought out and resourced planned home.

I'm a big fan of the channel, reason why I watched this video was out of curiosity, because I wandered what the inside of the RV looked like. I don't like "tour" videos because I've gotten too were I get so sick and tired of the word "Storage" people tend to overuse that word so much it makes me cringe.
All in all you all have a beautiful RV I can't help but to be a little jealous.

WOW! What a great design job you’ve done. Future RVers should not see this great walk before they shop, because they will not be satisfied with any floor plan currently on the market. Weight was not mentioned but I would guess somewhat heavier than traditional fifth wheels. Beautifully planned and built. Happy safe travels for many years to come.

You both are such a sweet couple. My folks RV’d for decades and I would go with them on numerous trips. Dad tried to teach me so much on the workings of the motor home but I don’t retain a lot if I don’t put what I learned to practice. We were on the South Padre, TX beach one trip. My Dad was bored out of his mind and said, ‘do you want to go to FL?’ I was all in for that. We have very dear friends there. I said ‘Absolutely!’ Dad said, ‘great, go tell your Mother.’ She and I were the beach lovers! She was so disappointed but said ok. We had stayed the maximum beach camping so we were having to move anyway. You both remind me so much of them. Happy travels and be safe.

@scottcameron1012 we really enjoy our home and the semi-trailer chassis. It's big and heavy but super stable. Great to drive and very comfortable. You have to be careful on where you go and how you can fit but we've traveled over 140K miles and our size has never prevented us from getting to a location. The Florida Keys to Alaska to California to Texas we've covered some territory. There are advantages to a Super C. That's why we purchased our Class C on a F550 chassis. There are areas we are not legal to drive in our Big Rig. Keep in touch. We have an email on the channel.

Wow, I love that 5th wheel. If I wasn’t a lone traveler, I’d get a 5th wheel like yours. I think it would be too hard parking and whatnot as a lone driver, therefore I have to go class A or super C with the 360 degree cameras. Your house is so homey and the honey colored cabinets really make it Pop with a warm glow.
Doing this alone in our rig would be a definite challenge. We have a few friends who solo in a big rig and it is difficult at times for them. I think the Class A or Super C is the right choice. Thanks for the comment and appreciate you watching the channel. 😊
I lived in an RV for 2 years before moving to my tiny house. I never felt cramped in it, as it felt more like a small 1 bedroom than anything, and even then I thought it looked and felt soo homey, but this rig just blows mine out of the water in terms of comfort! Lol I believe its the best rig I have ever seen on CZcams and you both have done a spectacular job in decorating it and including all the bells and whistles in the build! Two 👍👍 from me!

Two of my cousins went to school in Hanover. New England is best in Sept. & Oct. The Maritimes have much the same climate. I was born in N.B. raised outside of Boston Mass. and always summered in coastal Maine. Have local friends who are heading to Alaska this summer. I have ordered a Mile Post for them as a bit of encouragement. Nova Scotia is a gem. We have been in all seasons. Sorry to take up so much of your time. @@bigtruckbigtravels We have never owned an RV but had considered it ,so looked into places to stay. We go to the Maritimes two or three a year and the Canadian RV of choice seems to be the Fifth Wheel . Big ones from the western provinces smaller ones from the east coast. We have a lot of twisty /curvy roads and some not the smoothest in the world. Have you considered bringing the new rig. That we be no issue and you would have the jeep to tour around in. In the northeast there are potholes that could swallow the smart car. The Trans Canada Highway is fine for the most part but some of the interesting side roads can make your teeth rattle. Also some or the hidden gems for camping and sightseeing would be a little snug for Orion. I will pay more attention on future visits with you in mind. Great to have the option that just might give you the peace of mind needed. If you have any questions , fire away. Jim

Hey Mike. I was wondering who was going to ask about that! We got it down in Mexico at Los Algodones. It's stained glass made for the RV window in the door. They have probably over 100 different designs but it is actual stained glass. It's a nice touch and has been in the door for all 4 years. Thanks for the comment. Hey Pete, we are in our 8th year of full-timing with 140k miles and 700 stops under our belt so far in a big rig. We can't fit everywhere and it takes David more time to plan, but we've never been prevented from going where we want to go. We've also gained a lot of experience in a short amount of time squeezing the rig in tight places. I love both the big rig and the Class C but for totally different reasons. It's definitely a personal choice on how one wants to travel. Thanks for the comment and coming along.

I've been camping for 27 years and have had four campers (36' 5th wheel toy hauler was the biggest, and our 12' Aliner popup is now the smallest). Both have pros and cons. I've got a wild idea to build my own out of a box truck with pass-through boot to make a happy medium... I'm 6'4" and fit 225 lbs, so I really like the idea of fitting a residential shower and California King bed with power base rather than going with RV showers/bedding, while keeping the rig relatively maneuverable with ground clearance for forest roads. We'll see, I have time to figure it out. Meanwhile, I'll keep watching to see how your travels go down the road. Cheers!

Connie, it was a very shiny nickel for sure. It's much less than a comparable Prevost or Foretravel. Our full rig is less than $650K, of course, that was 4+ years ago and the replacement costs would be significantly more. Glad you're along on the journey. Thanks for the comment. 😁
The quality is there to see against normal 5th wheelers, with being a semi trailer without the car could you use a normal commercial hitch or do spacecraft insist on rv hitchs . |Its nice to see a normal length trailer for once most adverts of spacecraft promote 57ft which is just not practicul for everyday use on the move, The question of the day would you buy another spacecraft ? In the UK we have max trailer laws of 45ft although 40ft is more usable in europe and we have cabovers to keep the max length down to 68ft so as the tractors are a lot shorter than the USA we can get in tighter places also at a pinch why buy a car , just use the tractor unit. With all this quality of spacecraft why purchase Newall s etc at over two million when a new spacecraft plus a new volvo is a third of the price or less.
The quality is there for sure. We'd do it again...I'm just not sure SpaceCraft would be too excited about the prospect of us building again. LOL. I think we drove them crazy with all the details. Cabover trucks are very interesting and super maneuverable. We looked at them but very few in the USA. Yes, the 57 footers are too long for us. The concern with the longer trailers is a longer KPRA which widens the turning radius or if the rear axles are pulled in like so many RV trailers are, then you have a huge tail swing! I'm glad we managed to get everything into our 46'. 😊 thanks for the comment and watching the Channel. 😊

That is pushing it, 13' 6" will get you clearance but barely off the interstates
We are legal but we do have to be careful of not only height clearances but also very "humpy" RR track crossings! Small towns with RR tracks are the big worry for us but if they get deliveries of goods to the town then a big semi-truck usually delivers it. Thanks for the comment. We travel about 40% of the time on back roads. But it does make it a little challenging as the back roads generally don't have rest stops or pull-overs to pull over for lunch or bio breaks so we do have to plan more than the average RVer. 😉
you must have high axle capacities. I have seen many 5th wheels that weight much less then yours with three axles and you only have two. I've wondered about this for some time now
Our axles are rated at 20K lbs each. Our tires are the 22.5 size for semi-trucks and semi-trailers. They are fairly hefty. Our axles also are tandems so we are a true 18 wheeler rig running down the road. Thanks for the comment. Appreciate you watching the channel. 😊
