Ran off the road one day with wet roads taking a curve too fast and this thing drove right back up a decent slope while wet and muddy, I'm still shocked over that.
I'm in Minnesota and recently purchased a Q40 with 19k miles for $19k! I've had it for about a month now and I love it! Can't wait to see how it performs in the winter.
I live in the Boondocks of Indiana and considering purchasing a G37X. This video gives me confidence that the Infinity will get me to work reliably in the winter months in comfort. Thanks for your field test and I am heading to the dealership ASAP.
The Infinitis are awesome. I'm in Minneapolis and went through this same storm in my 04 G35x with 20" wheels and 35 series all season tires and honestly I think my G fared a little better with the less advanced awd system. I got 240k and want to upgrade but the damn thing won't break. Good oil and good gas, these cars last forever.
I live in KS and this is a great car in the winter snow. Nissan’s ATESSA AWD is actually very clever and enthusiast minded. I love the fact that it is RWD biased. This thing will drift like crazy in the snow. Also, the more you push the car, the less the front wheels engage. I knows you are trying to kick the rear end out and it lets you.
I have a 2013 G37x. With Michelin Premier A/S tires it handles snow in my Chicago alley just great. (I also have a set of Blizzak winter tires but haven't had to use them - want to buy a set on Infiniti 17" alloys? contact me) The G37x is just a damn good car; fast, reliable and practical. Between the traction control and the AWD system's "SNOW" mode it was just great in the 10-inch snow I've driven through.
Solid cars I have a 05 G35 with 175k still running strong basic maintenance. Only things had to fix is windows motor, radio, power seat and radiator over the 13 years I've owned it.
Well I own both a 2008 g35x and a 2008 g35s 6mt. And I can confirm the awd is great for snow. My 6mt is awful in anything over a trace, it isn't much better than a mustang or a camaro. Love drifting around in our X in the snow lol. But beleive me if this is your only car and you get a lot of snow go with the awd. Obviously if I put some winter tires on my rwd it would probably be drivable, but IL still bet my awd with uhp a/s general gmax's will still out perform my rwd with winter tires. I have summer general gmax rs's on my rwd now so I won't even try to get it out in this weather, but last year it still had michelin ps a/s 3's and they were shit in the snow. Not that they are known for being good in the snow anyway so it's not the best comparison, but figured some of you would like to hear from sombody who currently has both.
I've got a 08 G35x and live in canada ,,,,these cars are awesome ,,,but if i saw properly ,it looked like you had all season tires? Winter tires will be WAYYYY better then all seasons. I've got studded winter tires on mine and it's killer.
In my City we can only drive studded tires if its currently snowing or if it snowed the previous night. Once the plows come by you can get a ticket if a cop catches you with studded & chained tires. Even if it its not totally clear on say day 3 or 4 after the blizzard. Which is why I roll nothing but all seasons on my G37X and I get around tremendously better than any other car on the road.
That is normally due to ice build up. Best thing to do is find the nearest gas station and try to get the built up ice off the caliper or inside of the wheel. Or just try to block the wheels from the elements if a bad storm/freeze is coming.
Same here I'm car shopping at the moment to replace my 2007 Acura TSX. I've found a 2007 lexus is250 awd (200km) and a 2010 infiniti g37x (175km) for the same price... I think ill go for the g37x
@@carlosdavis2073 Love, love, love the car. What a machine. Hate the low gas mileage, but that's what you get when you want to be a BADASS! LoL! Mine's black!
It's a real shame these G's aren't made anymore. The S version with the LSD is a hoot, a big departure to the new Q50 which is depressingly unresponsive with the new steer-by-wire system. I hope they tweak it immensely over time, it's gonna need it.
hi do you have winter tires on? i just bought a 2020 q50 and im concerned also about snow with this car. we get so much snow here in ontario canada during winter.
I'm thinking of getting me a g37 x coupe because here in NY and NJ we get heavy snow. so that AWD will come in handy plug it got power. my current 4cyld car got no power.
Angel bluerider I have a 2013 G37xS (awd sport) and honestly the awd isn’t that good in the snow sad to say. The snow button helps but the awd only comes on when the rear wheels slip making the car sorta go side to side.
Looks like hes running Snow Tires on this Q40. So people please dont attempt to do this with your 4/32 tred OEM Goodyear RSAs and then say the car is shit in the snow! I have also run up to about 8 inches as well in my G37x with Blizzack WS80s however hes right as far as the scraping from the underside cover. However that gos away if the plows have gone down the major streets.
Good question, I believe that most people know this car as the g37. Other than this leftover year of 2015, the Q40 is a completely redesigned car. So for me it was easier to call it the g.
The Infiniti is for people who want a rear-wheel biased car and more luxury than a Subaru can offer. Audi, Subaru or other vehicles with symmetrical AWD systems (50/50 split by default) will forever be dominant in the snow, but a rear-biased car has the ability to be a 100% rear-wheel drive car when the extra traction is not needed. A lot more fun! Easier to drift and goof off in than a Subaru or a Quattro Audi. However, I will say that Audis and Subarus stay glued to the road, which is a good thing if you want something safe. I've never felt a loss of control behind the wheel of my A4 or A6.
Do you know how to drive in the snow? I seem to have very limited issues. All the negative responses I hear about this car is mostly due to people using the OEM tires or summer tires in heavy snow conditions. I have no issues running Conti DWS 06s in light(up to 3 or 4 inches) of snow and have run Blizzack WS80s for the deeper stuff. My only gripe is how it handles in white knuckle conditions suck as an icy day. but I tend to stay home on those days..
@@ntstkg37x62 I have all season tires and my g37x just plowed thru 6 inches of wet snow just idling in drive. I backed up a icy incline just idling aswell, haven't even used snow mode yet. I live in wisconsin and I'm use to driving fwd cars in 12 inches of snow and not getting stuck. At some point I just blame the driver.
I don't really like the newer one's either. Nissan went too bland. I wish my 1st gen G had the Q's interior and I'd never drive another car again. New subscriber, fellow Minnesnowtan, and miles don't scare me ;)

Please do an update on your Infiniti Q40, great video and thank you for sharing my friend!
Will do. Just waiting for the snow to melt! Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for the info I live in NJ and your video really helped me out. I've seen a 2013 g37 for low as 12k

Brother Infiniti all the way , never doubt the king of AWD lol .
subis? evos?
I'm a Mitsubishi guy. They had the best AWD (Montero's and Montero Sports) back in like '98-'04. I'll admit that Subaru is the best now.
