A SUPERB VALUE GPS WATCH - Suunto 9 Peak Pro GPS Watch Review

- Here is a cracking value GPS watch, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro watch. It's just £315 which is excellent value for money. It's perfect for hiking and backpacking but it's a true multisport gps watch too so you can use it as a running watch or for cycling or in the gym. This Suunto watch finds gps signal quickly and maintains the signal throughout the day.
The battery seems to last forever, far better than my Garmin gps watches. They say it will last for 40 hours in GPS mode. I'm not 100% convinced of that but the battery does last a significant amount of time. When not in GPS use it truly lasts for a good few weeks.
It's a easy to use multi sport GPS watch. There are less features than others but it's got more than enough for me. The Heart Rate Monitor appears to be accurate and it even has a touch screen too.
Charging is really quick. It's lightweight which makes it a great running gps watch.
Some people may not like it's smaller size and the maps have less detail than more expensive gps watches.

This is what they say:
Suunto 9 Peak Pro is a powerful multisport watch with extended battery life and
military-grade durability. The ultra thin and timeless design makes it beautiful on the outside, too.
In sports, every second counts. Thanks to the powerful chipset, Suunto 9 Peak
Pro reacts faster to your touch than ever before.
We also completely redesigned the user interface, making it even more intuitive to use and easier to read.
Even on longer adventures, Suunto 9 Peak Pro is a reliable companion. It features the best battery life of similar-sized sports watches: up to 40 hours in the best GPS mode.
The superior GPS allows you to see your location, pace and distance with greater accuracy, even in challenging environments.
The robustness of the Suunto 9 Peak Pro was tested according to US military standards. Waterproof up to 100 meters, it is built from the highest quality materials, such as sapphire glass, stainless steel and titanium in selected versions.
Toughness can still look elegant. Together with its predecessors, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro is the thinnest GPS multisport watch on the market.

Thank you for the review, I am a fellow Suunto athlete and prefer these watches over Garmin and Coros. Love your perspective and functional review.
Awesome video Andy! I really enjoyed the 9 Peak Pro, bulletproof, comfortable and great battery life. I hope Suunto bring maps to their next version 🔥
Thanks for sharing 👍
Nice video. Small size and light weight. Good looking for outdoor adventures and daily wear watch and also sleep tracking.
Can you pull latitude and longitude with this also a 10 digit grid ? I didn’t watch the video just a quick question
Hey Andy great vid I’m trying to decide between the 9 peak pro and the baro, the baro being a larger watch. Do you know what size your wrist is? That watch suited you wrist well, thanks
The Peak Pro is about the same size as my Garmin Fenix 6s (s denoting small). If you’ve got larger wrists go big 👍
Garmin tactic 7 pro...way to go
Hope the straps have improved on the core, I wore mine 5 times and the strap snapped in half and I didn’t av it tight at all
The straps been fine on mine but I don't wear it really tight, especially when exercising because my wrists swell.
@@BackpackingUK same here m8 always keep them bit looser, had same Casio G shock 15 plus years wear it all time but the core I’ve worn handful time and fell off in restaurant and it had snapped all the way across the hole so hope it’s not a problem with them all🤞
I thought this watch is 49mm. Am I wrong? Great video 🙌🏻 Thank you.
Mine's not that big.
@@BackpackingUK do you know what size it is? I really thought these were a fairly large faced watch. As in 49mm.
This is 43mm 👍
@@BackpackingUK thank you very much for clarifying. Very much appreciated 🙌🏻
It’s not for me too much fafing about
It's genuinely easy to use!
Sorry but why would I want this done 30 miles today with a map and compass for Lazey idiots boots are holding up well since you never replied tonhiwbyou treat yours 😅
Does your map record your activity and all the data too? I think you're missing the point, it's not just about following a route.
No Pal hahaha but phone dies tracking done another 26 miles today Mish mash of West Pennine way GM Ringway and some roads 💩 feet in bits did 20 miles yesterday anyway the Aku have now done 300 miles since 1st of march 🤪 liking them actually also say's inside the boot hand crafted in Serbia by specialist boot makers
@@davidroberts6977 wow you sound like fun. Anything else you want to tell us about??😴
Watch out with Suunto. They don’t honour their warranties. I received a broken product direct from them and they demand I accept their terms & conditions to enable a return but the conditions allow them to charge me! Don’t buy Suunto.
MSR and other Brands are similar too. It's mainly because it could be out of warranty or a fault caused by damage from the user.
@@BackpackingUK agreed - in my case bought directly from them and signed for - reported in writing the fault within two hours of receiving the product.
@@chrishamilton2527that shouldn't be a warranty return at all. You can return a faulty product under consumer protection rights. In fact since you bought online you can return regardless of reason.
I didn’t have that experience at all. Out of warranty my watch suddenly stopped working just stuck on the upload screen. Suunto gave me a huge credit towards the 9 pro.
@@karybakk of course they did - to get you to spend more money on an overpriced item. They are not an honourable company. They supply a faulty product and then demanded that j accept new terms and conditions to return their defective product which includes me accepting to pay them to make a return. That is not reasonable service or proper customer service. I will continue to expose them at every opportunity. Why are you defending their abysmal service?
These watches are gadgets that we don’t need, certainly at the prices that they charge! If you don’t know how far you have gone or what altitude you are at, you should not be out on the hills! People who are adventurous and get out into the hills and mountains need to learn basics skills and not rely on fiddly battery driven toys like these ‘smart’ watches, they need to get ‘smart’ themselves. Sorry.
Does your map record your activity and all the data too? I think you're missing the point, it's not just about following a route.

My phone does all that. It is just profiteering by the manufacturers to create these gadgets, (like Apple watches etc). I think that your channel is excellent, but sometimes you can promote stuff that is way over the top when it comes to cost and actual usefulness.
